Tetemeko had snuck away from his father today, looking for something fun to do. He found his father to be fun, of course, but after living around other cubs for awhile he found it kind of boring to be an only cub and hanging around with just one adult. There were a lot of lions in the Pridelands, and on such a lovely afternoon he'd seen a couple in the distance, but didn't go up to them. More keen on finding cubs, he headed towards where he knew there might be someone to play with, the area where Tai had told the story to everybody.
Worst case scenario, he got to see Tai and that was ok with him.

Recently, Mzuza had been feeling jollier and jollier. Far from feeling all to playful, she seemed to have realized that you only got one life to live - and that she had better live hers the best she possibly could. And so, rather than being down in her knowledge of so many terrible things, she had begun to focus on lighter, happier things. The color of the sky, perhaps. Or the hint of rainbow behind the clouds. And to tell the truth, she found that this was much more enjoyable than what she had previously done. Moped around feeling sorry for her own burden of wisdom.
The copper cub trotted along, her tail swishing happily now and again. Oh, what a glorious day! She remembered one not so long ago when she had met Kialio and the two had had a fine day of fun. What about today?

Meko, ever attentive to where he was going and who was around that might be fun to talk to, spotted the copper cub heading in the opposite direction he was at a fair pace. With a slight grin, the cub darted for some taller grass so he could hide. How well he hid depended on how tall the looker was, how much attention they paid and how much attention he paid. Unfortunately, his attention was on watching the approaching cub and not on his hiding.

The copper cub suddenly stopped. She squinted against the bright sunlight as if to confirm her eyesight. And yes, she was right! There was something hiding there! She had seen a flash of white, just momentarily, and then it had disappeared. And now, she could see something white and gold, and a little bit of a dirty tan, peaking out at her through the tall savannah grasses. It had a mane, which could only have meant that some boisterous cub was waiting to ambush her on her way. She chuckled to herself, glad that her maturity had leant her a hand in quickly realizing what was lying in wait for her. Oh, she'd play along alright. Without a second glance at whoever was hiding in the grass, she swung back into a happy trot with her head high in the air, eyes closed as she breathed in the rich aromas of the land, treading just outside pouncing range. She fought the urge to grin.

She stopped, the hiding cub noticed, but he couldn't tell that she squinted in his direction- only that it looked like she could be looking his way. Meko ducked lower into the grass, hoping not to be seen. He wasn't going to give up on the ambush, though, especially when the target continued on as if nothing was wrong. He was not thinking enough to realize she might know and play along anyway. He also didn't realize that she was just out of range when she loped by.
"Hey!" he shouted with a grin as he leapt from the grass towards her, landing short but still having fun. He realized it was probably better not to actually get her, and didn't mind where he landed.

Mzuza grinned as she turned her head to the sound of his voice, and watched as a shaped of predominantly white shot from the bushes and landed about a stride away from her. "Hey!" She replied, her ears pricking up as she sniffed at him. "Do you live here?" She could have sworn his coat was familiar. Even if she hadn't met him before, she had most probably seen him at some point or another. But she couldn't be sure. There were a lot of cubs in the Pridelands, her own family was proof of that!

The white cub hardly noticed how early she turned her head, having fun no matter the outcome and grinning widely as he stood at the short distance from her. He didn't get much chance to look at her and decide if he'd seen her before he was being interrogated.
"Yeah, I live here with my dad," Meko answered proudly, "I'm Tetemeko."
After introducing himself, he looked at her expectantly- hoping she would do the same. She looked familiar, but he couldn't place it. After all, he'd been rather occupied at the story when he'd tried to look for Tai's cubs other than Ayato.

"Cool!" She bobbed her head enthusiastically. "I'm Mzuza. I was born here." She grinned and waved her tail behind her, tilting her head as she tried to remember where she had seen him. "Where..." She began hesitantly with a small frown of concentration. "You were there when Tai told the story about the baby elephant, weren't you?" She asked, proud that she had remembered him.

Meko was pleased with her reaction and grinned widely as she introduced herself. When she added on that she was born here, he tilted his head a little bit. He wasn't sure about where he was born, just that all he could only remember being with Tai before his father showed up and that Tai was not actually his mother. Ah well! It didn't really matter, he was here now.
"The story? Yeah, I was there!" he puffed up proudly, "I wouldn't have missed it. I don't really remember seeing you there, where did you sit?"
The cub assumed she'd been sitting or she would have drawn more attention to herself. He'd gotten up and run around a bit, and that's what he credited for being noticed. Mzuza looked familiar, but he might not have been able to place her.

"Oh, I was, uhm... at the front," She said almost sheepishly. If there was anything Mzuza didn't like, it was flaunting. Flaunting anything, be it where she sat during a story, or the royal title she had been born with, or even if she managed to catch a glowbug out of the air at dusk. "With Safuma and Sarakiva. And Kialio too." She nodded. "Where were you? I think I saw you a little bit, but after that, maybe I was just listening too much into the story." She grinned. "I saw you switch places or something."
Talk of the story brought back memories of the images Tai had played into her head with the words of the story. The baby elephant and his pushy siblings, and the crocodile, and trunkless elephants. It all brought back happy memories of that day, and she wondered if Tai would tell another story any time soon.

Meko didn't notice how reluctant she seemed to tell where she'd been sitting, and only took in where she'd been sitting and then who she'd been sitting with. He didn't recognize any of the names, but he'd probably seen them all.
"Oooh! I was kind of near the front," he explained awkwardly, not really giving any clear indication of where he'd been sitting. When she commented on his switching places he shook his head firmly, "I didn't switch places, I was looking for some lions. Ayato was the only one there at first, and he stopped me from looking too much just before Zira and Udha showed up." He stated this all matter-of-factly, as if she would just know who everyone he mentioned was.

She nodded with an almost indulgent smile. "Of course," She said, although she only really kind of knew who Ayato was. She had no idea who Zira and Udha were, although perhaps she may have recognized them by sight. "I got dragged to the front by Sara. My sister." She added with a slight nod, although everyone knew how much of a princess Sarakiva was. She didn't really like that about her sister, but she couldn't blame her, it was only natural. After all, Sara had been heiress all her life. It wasn't really her fault she had become spoilt.
"Well... What were you doing?" She asked, deciding to change the subject after mentally wincing at the memory of sitting in front. If anything, Mzuza liked to lay low. The front was embarrassing.

Meko seemed pleased with her humoring him, content with just her simple nod on the subject. He made a face as she explained how her sister had dragged her to the front, it didn't sound much like that's where she wanted to be- especially since she'd been reluctant to say so. He didn't have any siblings, none that were still alive - though he didn't know about them, but he could guess that it might not be so fun based on her reaction.
"I don't have any sisters," he replied proudly, "And I don't think you should let her push you around- did you want to sit at the front?" The white cub wasn't going to allow the subject to change so easily, oh no.

She was almost surprised by the ease with which Tetemeko had brought the subject back to her sister. It was almost unfair, it was, everyone focusing on Sarakiva at some point or another, be it positive or negative attention. Every time she had a conversation, Sarakiva came up. A did her best to keep the flash of annoyance from flashing across her face. It was the same with Ma and Papa, it was always something about the heir and heiress. But she went along with him all the same.
"Well, it's easier said than done," She said after a moment's pause during which she decided on what she should say. "Sarakiva's... well... Sarakiva." She said, smiling dryly. Perhaps it didn't mean anything to this white cub standing before her, but within the family, it was simply understood, so that the term 'Sarakiva' had almost become like an adjective to her.

Tetemeko's ignorance to the annoyance and frustration the topic caused Mzuza was perfectly clear in his expression as he just looked at her blankly as she explained. He wasn't sure he understood, but he nodded none-the-less.
"She doesn't sound like much fun," he commented bluntly, "We can do whatever you want now, if you want! I bet you know something real fun to do." Meko beamed at her as he spouted the idea. If it wasn't easy to do what she wanted when her sister was around, he would make it easy when he was!
