I made a translation of a magazine's try to make demons for the Storytelling world, because at the time there weren't any yet. I don't know if there are already... But they can be easily adapted for any other system, so I decided to put them here. Maybe you would like them...

Demon: the Negociation

The original Article by Dragão Brasil 12

Vampires: tormented creatures, that praise themselves for their immortality and have fun torturing the weaker, to compensate for the loss of their humanity. Werewolves: warriors in love for a war they already lost. Mages:people with wonderful powers, chased and controlled by an even greater one. Ghosts: lost souls, confined to this existence by an unfulfiled wish.

With their Storytelling series, White Wolf covered almost all o four great terrors. They even covered the small ones, letting them be creations of others (the Frankstein monster, for example, would be created by a Son of Ether mage, and the zombies would be creation of vampires). But one of the greatest ones is still wihout it’s own version (maybe because of the USA’s big censorship): the demons. Here we offer an optional demon version for the storytelling system. As we have said before, if White Wolf publish anything about demon it is gonna be above this article, that is not official. (Obs: the following is narrated by Ar'Shana, the character of the tale that opened the original version of this article).

Personality

We demons are businessmen by nature. For our powers (and to live), we consume the energy from souls, like a vampire consume blood. But the energy of souls can be transferred from a demon to another, and it became used as a sort of money. Besides, a demon can only “drink” the energy of a soul if the owner was sacrificed in his/her name or if gave it willingly (of course the last one still lives).

We can recover wounds just like a vampire, but faster, by turning our soul points in health points. Besides, every Sunday we lose two health points, and need to use two soul points to recover them.

Appearance

The appearance is very important. Most demons have monstruous shape, and their appearance is zero. So put an X after it, and not it means how scary it is (negative Appearance). Some demons, however, have human appearance, and are even good-looking (like me).

Obs. – the Appearene power work the same way for both kinds of appearance, it can both raise beaty or ugglyness.

Hellish Powers

There are thirteen powers that a demon can have. They have three types: amplification, normal and special.
(In a following article more were added to the list. I’ll put them here too. If anyone asks, they can have any power they may need if the Storyteller let them)

Amplification Powers – the first four powers are so called because the levels are added to the respective attribute: Strength, Resistence, Manipulation and Appearance. Notice that the other five ones can’t be raised. The Amplification powers work this way: the demon uses the number he wants of soul points, up to the level of the power he is using, and raise, till the end of the scene, the corresponding attribute the same number of levels. They can even get to ten, if both the attribute and the power are level five. No dice throw is needed, but the top value the Attribute is the normal one plus the power level. Appearance is the only one a little different: besides raising, it can be used to lower, at player’s choice.

Normal Powers – the following seven powers work exactly the same way: the power level means how many dices the player can throw to try to use the power, and the soul points used are the difficulty, the power being successful or not.

Illusion: This power let the demon make other people… I mean, other beings, see things that actually aren’t there. For the difficulty, think about the image complexity. A person acting as usual would be difficulty 5.
Important: demon illusion affect all senses.
Incorporation: Lets the demon take control of a human body. It doesn’t work on awakened beings (vampires, werewolves, mages, fairies, ghosts… Hey! Ghosts don’t have bodies!), for those different powers are needed. The difficulty is the Willpower of the victim and, if it have True Faith (look at the Vampire Player’s Guide or The Hunters Hunted), add it to the Willpower. If the demon only wants to use the body, without controlling, only throw dices if the victim has Faith. In this case, just throw against Faith
Metamorphose: Let the demons change the shape of their body. The difficulty depends of the complexity of the change: create tail and horns (or eliminate them) would add two or three to it.To come back to true self there is no throw needed. If the demon fall uncounscious it will go back to his/her true shape. Obs. – This power can’t be used to change Appearance, for this you will need to use it together with the Appearance power.
Occult: This is the opposite of illusion, since it works for not letting something that is there be seen. Difficulty is based on the volume of things to be hidden, and a test is made every time someone look for the direction.
Teleporting: Let the demon go from one place to another without phisically going the distance. Difficulty is only the demon’s intimacy with the place: 3 for intimate,(own home), 4 for related, 5 for well known, 6 for a place it has being once, 7 for somewhere he/she heard a description, 8 if only knows where it is, 9 if not even this. For a demon it doesn’t matter the plane or the distance a place is. Lower the difficulty by 2 if it is following someone. And if the dices fail the demon is just gonna end in the wrong place.
Transmuting: Change the shape of inanimate objects. Difficulty depends of the object and the result complexity.
Vision: Not exactly a power, but an object (mirror, crystal ball, well, lake, pound…) that, looking inside, the demon can see somewhere else.
Difficulty is the same as for Teleport, first for using the object, then for actually seeing something.

Special Powers – the last two have special rules.

Operation: let the demon awaken powers in a human being (same as incorporation, but works for mages). These powers can be magical, psychic or hellish. For magical powers read Mage – the Ascension. For psychis read Vampire Player’s Guide or The Hunters Hunted. And, for hellish powers, read... well, this article!
To awaken magical powers, the demon must use tem soul points. For psychis of hellish, one point for each power level of the player. The number of soul points the demon can use is the Operation power level multiplied by five.
A human being with hellish powers hás a new attibute: soul. He/she will begin with 50 points, even if sold his/her soul. Those are the points the are gonna be used to use the powers, and when they get to zero the human will die. To avoid this, the human can “buy” more points from a demon (for example, make a sacrifice, the demon absorb the soul and receive some back – let’s say 50%, 75 tops).
Operator Demons usually give hellish powers, so the victim is gonna need to negociate again later.

Flight: even if the demon hás wings it doesn’t mean he/she can really fly without this power. On the other hand, even demons without wings can fly if they have this power. The level is the top speed, and no dice throw is needed. It is used one soul level for each three minutes of flight. Top Speed is: *6km/h; **50km/h;
***130km/h; ****666km/h e *****1313km/h.

(these come from another article)
Claws: many of us have claws, but not all of them have any use... The ones with this power can make more damage with their claws than usual. For calculating the damage, the number of dices is Strength+Claws level. Just a little addo... and can become even more if used with Strength Amplification!
Seduction: sincerelly I don’t know why no one told me about this one before, since it is a common power for a Sucubus like me... it is some sort of hipsonis. Throws Manipulation+Seduction of Appearance+Seduction, depending of the type of seduction (appearance for attracting them for you, manipulation for actually going to them and make them fall). The difficulty is the Willpower, and one soul point is used every hour. For this time the victim is completelly submissive, the number of successes being how far this “completelly” goes. With 5 you can tell a guy to kill himself...
Disgrace: Really few demons have this rare power. This can only be done to someone who sold his soul. After using only 1300 soul points, the victim is turned in a demon (a mage I knew thought it was a modified version of what Lord Satan made to Caim). If the vistim already has hellish powers it loses every one but the stronger, and must gt stronger to get them back. DETAIL: no one with a caste lower than corruptor can have this power.

Castes

The demons have a rigid social caste system.
Unlike other caste systems, a demon’s caste is bought meaning that to go up he must pay the soul points to Satan, the Emperor of Hell (of course there is only one emperor, so it’s impossible to get to the caste 13).

Castes
Caste – Average Price
*Vermin – 0
*Lackey – 20
*Soldier – 50
Cobra – 100
Torturer – 300
Knight (HELL knight) – 500
Corruptor – 666
Unholy – 900
Duch – 1300
Rimer – 1500
General – 2000
Lord – 7000
Emperor - ?
*These always obey someone

Demon X Vampire

There is a theory that says that a vampire is a kind of demon... One way or the other, the relationship between us and them is a little more complicated than with the others:
Vampires have no soul. Or at least their souls have no energy. “Drink” a vampire’s soul gives no soul point.
Demons don’t have blood. But if a vampire bite a demon he/she can drink the soul energy. Drinking a demon’s “blood” gives the vampire an euphoric state that raise the vampire’s strewngh for one level for a number of days (or should I say nights) equal to one third of the stolen soul points.
Demons have “first generatin”. Some say that Caim was turned in a demon. When a vampire does Diablerie to a demon the vampire’s generation will always be lowered, as if the demon was Caim himself. But it’s not easy to do this, because we aren’t paralised when bitten!

Character Sheet and Creation

The Demon’s Sheet is a lot like the other Storytelling ones. With a little changes you can use any one of them.

In first place, demons don’t have Backgrounds. That may sound weird for experient Storytelling players, but the concept doesn’t work in this case.Actually we have backgrounds, but there is only one possible one, that is the Caste. So there is no place for Antecedents on the sheet.
The Caste must be marked somewhere. There is no caste 0, the lower oe is 1 (Vermin), Besides, it is gona need somewhere for the soul Points. Since it varies a lot, I sugest using the back of the sheet.
Powers also take a lot of space, being thisteen (sixteen) and all. A good way would be like the Mage Spheres (an horizontal space in the middle of the sheet). Demons have lots of choices about Talents, Skills and Knowledges (almost all the ones avaliable for the other games of the series and Player's Guides, at the storyteller’s choice), so it would be convenient to let na empty space so the player could place his own choices.

To create the character, depending of the story type (see later):
For Hell Ascension, where the character start as Vermin, use 6/4/2 points for Attributes, 10/6/3 for Abilities and 2 points for Powers (actually power, since he would be too weak to have more than one. Caste is going to be one, of course, Willpower will be 5 and each character will begin with 6 soul points. Besides, each one has 6 bonus points.
For Torment stories (like me), use 8/5/3 for Attributes, 15/10/5 for
Skills and 6 for Powers. Caste will be three (Soldier), Willpower 5 and each character begins with 20 soul points (recomended; storyteller’s choice). Each soldier will begin with 15 bonus points.

Bonus Points and Experience

Characteristics can be raised with bonus points when the character is created or with experience points later. Each risen level costs:
Attributes cost 5 bonus points at creation and in experience cost 4 times your actual level.
Abilities cost 2 bonus points for each level. The first level of a skill cost 3 experience points, to rise an ability you already have the cost is the double of the level for Talents and Skills or actual level for Knowledges.
Powers cost 5 bonus points each level, or, in experience, 6 times the actual level. First level costs 10 experience points.
Willpower costs 2 bonus points or the same number of experience points as the actual level.
Soul Points can be exchanged for bonus points for 2 soul points each, but not for experience points. Soul points can only be raised through the game.
Castes can’t be raised neither with bonus points or experience.

Stories

We are really powerful beings. So what could menace us enough to make stories exciting?
I’ll give you two ideas, but they are absolutely NOT the only possible.

Hell Ascension: The characters begin in the lowest caste, vermin, and are discriminated and ill-treated by their superiors. Good time to remember that Vermins, Lackeys and Soldiers always obey someone. The characters get along to get some “money” and get out of that life. Good for who likes conspiracy, because kill for money isn’t crime in hell! Obs. – for this they will need enchanted knives for extra damage, because trying to kill a demon with normal damage can only be called foolishness!

Torment: The characters are stuck in Earth, like me. They could have come together or met each other on their exile. Here they are gonna meet other awakened beings and have to go back to hell, at least if they want to buy castes! The demons are more powerful than the others awakened on one-on-one fights. But there is the problem: one! Demons are always alone, counting only (and not too much) with the rest of the group. Vampires has a powerful social organization to support them (both the Camarilla, and the Sabá, and een the Anarchists). The werewolves also are strongly organized, even being a few compared to vampires their organization is reinforced by loyalty. Besides they have the help of (some) mages and fairies.
Tradition Mages are also strongly bonded by surviving instinct, and, at least against demons, they can count with werewolves and fairies. Same goes for fairies (Changelings). Only the Redcaps of the Unseelie court would tolerate the presence of a demon.
On the other hand, Tecnocracy and Inquisition, traditional enemies of the above groups, wouldn’t be more friendly. Quite the opposite, they would surely let go of important projects to hunt one of us, that is the worst thing possible for both organizations (and fight only the technocracy is bad enough, trust me…).
The only possible allies of the demons would be the Nephandi Mages, that after all are banned from Earth, and the vampires that use the dark arts. However, vampires like the Tremere would more likely try to control the demon (with good chances of being successful, Manipulation+Occult against the demon’s Willpower). Personally, I would suggest neither company...

Now it’s my turn…
Well, from what I remember from the Spawn movie and some really few magazines I read, HellSpawns are humans that are soldiers for the demons in their wars against angels. So they are almost as powerful as a real demon. They can only be killed by cutting their head out, by an angel or by a demon. So demon must not be so different, right?
We can understand now that demons can be killed by holy energy, demonic energy or by having their head cut out.

Half Demons, by me using the previous texts as a reference
Being only half demon and half something else, they have half a soul of their own. So they can’t be killed by losing soul energy. Even if they needed to use more soul points than they have in stock to heal, their own soul would recover with time, meaning that as long as they can survive the attack they may take longer to recover, but will do so. They also aren’t hurt by Sundays, for their soul counter this.
They can use hellish powers, but they can’t use their own soul for this. And when “drinking” someone’s soul, half the energy is lost.
Half Demons are considered in the middle of their caste and the previous one, unless they are lords, in which case they are equal to pure demons. Even the pure ones not liking to admit being a Demon Lord is an honor no weak one would ever get close, even being half.
Although Half Demons can use their own soul if needed to recover wounds, and the soul recovering meaning they wouldn’t need to worry about wasting it, if the wound was made by holy or hellish energy it wouldn’t be possible and it would take much longer. They also die instantly if their head is cut off too.
Vampires won’t take soul points unless the half demon has extra ones besides his own soul, and beign only half no generation change would happen. Still would not be paralyzed by beign bitten, and his demon half of the blood saves him from becoming a vampire. The blood also doesn’t feed much but it is a much tastier than usual ones.

I there's anything missing, just tell me.
