I'm pretty in to Tolkein, but I realized lately that thats really the only fantasy I read. Does anyone have any good fantasy suggestions? Thanks!

I have to say my favorite author (other than JKRowling) is TA Barron. I loved the Lost Years of Merlin series. It is so good. Its all about the boy behind the man behind the myth. Who he really was, and how he became The Merlin that we all know.

I enjoy RA Salvatore, but his stuff is a little tedious if you don't really like him. He's kind of a like it or hate it author. Its really good if you like it, its boring if you don't.

I never thought anyone else read The Lost Years of Merlin >.<

C.S. Lewis you can't forget about him (even with his hidden imageries XD)
Robert Jordan
some Stephen King novels cross the line into Fantasy (apparently)
Terry Pratchett
Tamora Pierce (not 100% fantasy but there are parts of it)
Tad Williams
Terry Brooks
Eoin Colfer.
Libba Bray
Elizabeth Haydon (some of her stuff is PG-13 xd )
Peter Dickinson
John Wyndham

If you want to know what they've written just message me or post it on here. I'll let you know *laugh*

I actually love "The Wish List" it was really interesting. More fiction than fantasy but it was a particularly interesting concept. I have to admit I have yet to finish the fourth book of Artemis Fowl or Eldest by Christooher Paolini.

BTW Psmith: Have you read the Silmarillion by Tolkien?

I'd have to recommend Mercedes Lackey. I adore her. Although, I'd say stick to her earlier books. The newer ones, imo, aren't as good. The novels set in the Valdemar universe are probably my favorite. Let's see if I can get a list...

Heralds of Valdemar
Take a Thief
Exile's Honor
Exile's Valor
Arrow of the Queen
Arrow's Flight
Arrow's Fall
Vows & Honor
The Oathbound
Oathbreakers
Oathblood

The Last Herald Mage Trilogy
Magic's Pawn
Magic's Promise
Magic's Price

The Mage Winds Trilogy
Winds of Fate
Winds of Change
Winds of Fury

Kerowyn's Tale
By the Sword

The Mage Wars
The Black Gryphon
The White Gryphon
The Silver Gryphon

The Mage Storms Trilogy
Storm Warning
Storm Rising
Storm Breaking

The Owl Mage Trilogy
Owlflight
Owlsight
Owlknight

Brightly Burning

My personal favorites are the Mage Winds, Last Herald Mage, and Owl Mage trilogies.

I like the Avalon series by Marion Zimmer Bradley (It's another King Arthur book).
The Crystal Cave, by Mary Stewart, is another nice one about Merlin.

Also, The Blue Sword by Robin McKinley is very nice.

I adore Eragon and Eldest... you must finish reading them. I love it partly because the last page of the first book leads right into the first page of the second. I love that. I hate when you read a book and every page has something like.. Last year Harry saved the Sorcerer's Stone... etc. That was part of the reason that The Chamber of Secrets was my least favorite HP book. 3nodding I like that if you're reading the second book of a series, you should have read the first one... thats the point..lol..

Yes in fact I have. It sort of made me feel like I was reading the bible. Did you get that impression?

I agree but I also felt it was more of a history textbook. I had to put it down. I don't even remember where I put it actually. Should go find that *puts on to-do list which is out the door*
