Caius has surpassed mere excitement, and entered the phase where it was just pure delight. The reason?
His first visit to a playground.
He had explored the sand pit, triumphed over the slides, flown on the swings and crossed crocodile-strewn paths on monkey-bars. Peter had long since retired to a bench, tired; but Caius was still going strong. It was astonishing how much energy a child cold have, really.
Of all the wonders the playground offered however, the swings were currently his favorite. And swinging high into the air, he released and jumped - and landed a few moments later, feeling like he'd been in the air for ages. Moving to hurry back, he bumped into someone.
"Sorry!"
Chirped out with a beam, it didn't seem like much could damage his good mood.

First off, Caliga had only come to the playground because Raeven wanted to teach his newfound charge to observe, to learn. Secondly, the boy was none too pleased to discover that he had certain rules attached to this lesson by his guardian.
The parameters of this exercise? To meet with another person, discover everything he could about them, and report back to Raeven. To not divulge anything about the situation with himself and Raeven, to give nothing but the basic information.
That was the reason he'd let the boy bump into him. "You should be careful where you go," Caliga commented dryly, considering the other boy. Strange, this boy-- obviously one like himself, but... not at the same time. Too emotional.

While Caliga was observant enough to realize that they were of the same ilk, Caius never even paused to consider such a thing. But rather then hurrying back to the swings for another leap (which Peter hadn't been too happy about when he'd seen the first one - luckily, glancing over at the man, he could see that he hadn't seen that second one), he stopped.
"Wanna play?"
Most of the other children had formed little groups, or already had people to play with - Caius wanted to play with someone, but he didn't want to barge in on anyone. This boy wasn't really playing yet, so maybe he was just waiting for someone to play with?

A child who didn't respond to an admonishment-- perhaps it was because he was the same age? Another child directing... or one who didn't think, who wasn't taught. Caliga didn't want to play with a child as careless as this one, but had to follow his father's instructions... "Play what?" he asked, glancing around the playground. What did one usually do in a place like this?
...perhaps this was the lesson he was being taught? In different places, different events took place, different actions had to be taken...

Caius simply didn't respond, because the way he saw it, an invitation to play was as much an apology as an actual one. After all, wasn't it better to make apologies with actions, instead? That was what he'd overheard papa say on the phone, the other night; and it seemed to ring true to him.
And of course, wanting to play with something himself had nothing to do with it. Nothing at all...
"Anything! I was playing on the swings, but we can do something else, too."
Flying was fun, but playing with someone else might be more fun, so Caius was willing to give that up for the moment.
"There's the slide, an' the monkey bars - those are fun, I went across them earlier..."
He came to a stop after listing a couple more things, and was apparently waiting to hear Caliga's preference; he'd done them all already, so he wasn't picky. Then he realized.
"Oh! An' I'm Caius."
