The museum is down right now, so I can't check it out personally, but it sounds to me that the admins have set up a system to pull item values off the Marketplace, similar to the tektek item list. Of course, for now it only has Dona-- err, Collectibles, so price guides will still have a place tracking event items and rares.

Finally, the museum is up and I checked it. All I get about the estimated values is:


It seems like this feature isn't really ready so far...Let's see what'll happen.

In any case, I doubt that people will use the museum for pricecheck issues in the first place. The navigation is slow and if you don't know which month your wanted items are, you're doomed to click through all pages. I think the most interesting part of this feature is the equipping one which interacts with your current avi.

When it comes to navigation and pricecheck, tektek is still on head of the game. 3nodding

Official Gaia Priceguide...the latest release of the beta marketplace testing phase seems to become pretty much what we would call an official Gaia priceguide:

I'd like to call this "the better tektek" and if you ask me, if the marketplace should really work like it seems to, tektek will seriously loose its price checkers. I mean, who'd use an outstanding pricecheck of the marketplace if there's already an official, thus a more reliable one?

It also seems like the ultimate end of every priceguide ever made. If the new marketplace should really work well for price checking, say good bye to the old "estimate the values of exchange forum vends"- and "let me see what tektek says"-days, because Gaia would have finally made what everyone was looking for since the beginning of Gaia's lifetime. 3nodding

As the GEN is no longer the major priceguide on Gaia, this guild is more like an economy discussion place now. So I'd like to throw in a little mismatching discussion into this thread, which will lead me to a rather enforced topic change:

The new marketplace will have a 2% fee for every item sold on the market. What do you think about this? Could this really help the gaian economy to gain more stability? Or do you think that this'll change less than nothing?
