So you may have heard this on the news, but the freakin' pope thinks the harry potter books are 'corrupting children's mind and soul'. And my step mom agrees. Thank god i don't live with her. Isn't that ridiculous? I mean, it's a fictional book. And they don't say anything about the church or anything, it's not like it's supposed to be an attack against christians. Ridiculous.

How can a book that makes people happy, and teaches children to love reading be currupting our soul. Really, I see no sanatic messages between the pages. The book is more about being good and concuring evil then anyting.
And has the Pope ever read the series? I'm sure he hasn't. =/

Seriously? Ouch. I'd have a hard time living in a family that couldn't accept the things I love. Luckily they are open people who pretty much let me like what like. Yeah my dad teases me, but who wouldn't?
From the devil, I'm sure a writer as amazing as Jo, who is a generous philanthropist is writing messages fromt he devil to currupt children. =/

And ironically enough, my dad doesn't give a s**t! That good ol' apathist...

My grandfather on my Dad's side is a roman catholic , so he's very strict religously. Luckily my dad doesn't agree with the religion.
He gave me holy water for my birthday. @_@U

It's because the books are about witches and wizards... And SOMEWHERE in the bible it says something like : Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. And then there was all the witch burning and there's stuff like that probably elsewhere in the bible.
Jo has spoken about this sort of thing, several times I think.
My parents don't mind. Mum reads the books (even though technically she's a catholic and should be condeming it) Dad read one of the books, and enjoys the movie (apathy!)
And holy water for your birthday? Well... It's uhm... Original?

Well, I am Christian, very much so, in fact, and I have nothing against the books. Obviously, I'm obsessed with them!
The old Pope liked the books. I don't like the new pope...

I don't see how anything's wrong with the Harry Potter books. They don't corrupt minds! They make them better and they expand vocabulary! Books are the future! Besides, I wouldn't care what the pope said about the Harry Potter books. His opinion isn't going to change my way of viewing things. I'm going to think that way I want to think because I am me.

In my religion class I had a preist come in and he spoke about Harry Potter breifly. He said that he had read all and enjoyed each of the books. He said he didn't think it implyed anything about going against the church and that they were good books for children! xD I liked him.

Well, it depends what religion you are usually. If you're senveth day adventist, most are vegetarians, don't wear make-up/jewelry, or even shop on Sabbath. So they're really eccentric; it's annoying. I doubt any of them approve of The Harry Potter books.
