To Ms. Spiral,

I am wondering how you managed to gain the satisfaction you did by delivering an overly simple, cryptic line to a man who was simply introducing himself. I realize there were ideological differences, but weren't there more poised ways of going about the ordeal?

Actually, that's not really what bugs me: to you, and everyone who supported you:

What if I had the audacity to deny a women a proper greeting (or painfully cordial) because she had an abortion?

"Oh I'm sorry but I can't possibly shake the hand of a women who thought it write to murder her innocent young child long before it had a chance."

I believed that type of instant judgement was frowned upon by both groups?

It took me a while to realize that you were responding to something from another guild. I was looking around in here and in the main PLG forum for a while.

*grin*

What I thought was not a very good idea was that this person rather insulted a guest at their place of business. At least this person refrained from saying more and losing their job over their dislike of a politician.

I looked up the guy that person didn't like. I guess he used to be a very outspoken Democrat when he was younger, and broke with the party over issues with abortion and (according to Wikipedia) homosexuality.

I know that the Democratic Party is known for being more Pro-Choice, but there are plenty of Pro-Life Democrats (and some Pro-Choice Republicans for that matter). I think this guy left the party for more financial policies, personally, but that is just speculation.

I don't feel that it is ever justified to be rude to someone. Though I know that if one really dislikes a person, it is hard to be polite. I think that I would have a big problem being polite to the current Leader of the USA, for instance, especially if given leave to speak my mind to him. However, the issue of abortion isn't one I would bring up (since the war and the economy bother me far more).

Hmmm... knowing someone had an abortion would put a teinge in me, and I would probably not respect them the same as normal. However, I would be civil as with anyone else, so long as they weren't out to rub it in my face. For example-
"Hey, guess what lifer, I had an abortion, so lol!"- which someone told to me in the debate, btw. lovely introduction, don't you think... "I disagree with everything you stand for, and rather than try to debate or understand, I will simply rub in your face the act you see as deplorable"... nice.

I could be cynical and callous about his statement, but I've blocked most of the redundant and hyper-sensitive posters to save myself a headache.

Mind sending me the post in a PM so I may read?

What are you talking about?

So you'd be polite to Hitler, Pol Pot, and Jefferey Dahmer, and (out of courtesy of course) agree with thejr poicies, right?

It's stupid for you to say it's "judgemental" of her to not like someone based on X, especially when you do the same type of thing yourself.

Read the "National Pro-Life T-shirt day" thread and compare the two, just for the lulz you get.

Eh, I'd do the same thing to a politician I hate.

I don't even shake the hands of drug reps.

That would mean physical contact, and that's how they steal your soul... stare Looking them in the hollow voids of their eyes can be dangerous, too.

I just take their food and throw their propaganda in the trash.

I don't know if I could bring myself to say that to anyone unless I knew for sure that person was intentionally causing harm. Even with pro-choice politicians, unless I have good reason to believe that person doesn't give a damn about women and keeping their rights, I'm not going to disrespect them like that because it'd be disrespecting myself, plain and simple. "Hi, you're fighting for a cause, and I'm fighting for the opposing cause, but I have so little to go on that I need to disrespect you and pretend you're Satan in order for me to feel good about my cause!" If you can't look at people fighting for something and say something good and instead say, "That person only wants to hurt people," because that person doesn't agree with you, it indicates you've got a pretty weak grounding in your cause. I can be firmly pro-life and still recognize that most pro-choice people are doing what they feel is right, just as I'm doing what I feel is right.

Anyone who can't recognize that, even if they disagree with it, I feel slightly sorry for.

I'd joke about it, if I was in a bad mood. The thought might cross my mind. But then I'd think about it and realize I was acting emotionally, not rationally.

Amen.

I still believe Pro-life is the better side for that matter. I see many more instances where we are demonized rather then us, demonizing. Maybe this is merely my perspective, but it's what I see.

People can jus tbe a little too insensitive and too quick to find an enemy, I feel.

It's just your perspective. 3nodding I have yet to see Choicer's trash someone's car for being pro-life. Conversely I have had my vehicle destroyed for being pro-choice.

EDIT: Oooooh, I get what you think I was saying. No, no, no. I wasn't saying "it's just your point of view, and lifer's are evil", I was saying "It's just your point of view, both sides have their s**t heads and it's a function of the general community in your area".

Peer, something tells me there was a provocative bumper sticker involved, or you used what are referred to in law as "fighting words"... stare

Working at Jiffy Lube, and dealing with cars all day, if had quote a few cusimers ramark about how they had their head lights broken and the pro-life bumber sticker scratched off. It happens on both sides. (although I cant understand why out here, and at the same time I can. Reno has a higher pro-life population, yes since its a city it also has a high a** hole population)
