Akila had finally found the ocean...and she was fascinated. While the shy, skittish Mai ghosted along, disliking the lack of brush to hide in, the blue filly frolicked in and around the waves, running from them and then chasing them back out to sea, pawing and snorting while her striped tail waved about like a banner. Had her sire been present he would have smiled and laughed, remembering his own first encounter with the ocean. He had reacted much the same as this filly now was, proving more than just looks were passed down through blood.

Lovey had found herself with a free day from basket-sitting, as Caelen had seent he dark rings that had begun to form under her eyes. It was a nightmare for the young mare, living day in and day out not knowing if the babe's parents were going to leap into the fray. Lord how she hoped not. Watching the little blue and black filly play near the water made her smile, but it was hard to dredge up the energy to go play too. Her blue-purple hair stretched out the full length of her body and Lovey breathed deeply, it was beautiful out... and so relaxing...

Akila squeaked with surprise as she whirled around, waves momentarily forgotten in her haste to see who had just spoken to her. Spotting nothing spiky or webbed, she smiled brightly, figuring that at least it wasn't a kalona! "Hi there!" she chirped cheerfully, eyes widening a little in delight as she took a second look. The stranger's mane was so long! Akila trotted up to the mare, eyeing the mane unabashedly.

Lovey grinned down at the little blue filly with delight. She had the loveliest bright blue coloring mixed with pretty stripes. For whatever reason, young ones tended to be extremly interested in her excess mane. "I'm Lovey Dovey, but please just call me Lovey... What are you looking at with such... uhm enthusiasm?" The answer was probably obvious, but there was no need to feed her ego unless it was warranted.

"Your mane, it's so pretty!" Akila replied promptly, continuing her awed examination. Not even was this mane even longer than daddy's, it was shiny too! "And long too, it's the longest one I've seen ever." Delicate silvery hooves lifted and placed themselves neatly as she turned to get a better look at the purple mare. It took her a moment to realize she hadn't given her name as well, causing her to look back up at Lovey's face. "And I'm Akila!"

The little filly certainly was sweet, and excitable. Not to say that wasn't a good thing, having energy made life a lot more fun. "Well thank you, Akila, but I must say that your shade of blue is very striking." The sun fairly glinted off of the bright pelt. The filly would be a knock-out to poor unsuspecting stallions. For now, playing was more interesting. "Have you wandered into the water very much?"

Akila flushed a little at the compliment, but was quickly distracted by the question that followed. "Oh, no I haven't, 'cause I don't know how to swim," she admitted, pawing at the sand with a pale hoof. "Haven't been deeper than my chest in the river, and that," tossing her head at the waves, "gets a lot deeper than the river, I bet. It's huge!"

"Nobody has taught you how to swim yet?" The filly was getting longer legs it seemed and soon enough she'd probably be an adult. However it work it seemed that most children just grew overnight and came back giant. "Well, today is as good of a day as any to learn don't you think, that is if you trust me already." The water would be cool so only a short, very short, swim would do.

Akila gaped a little, mind turning over the offer in her mind. Learning how to swim would be awesome, and why wouldn't she trust Lovey? She bore no horns, no webbed wings, no coyote pelt or spade-tipped tail. With the innocence of her youth she assumed none lacking such 'bad' accoutrements were untrustworthy. "That'd be great!"

And indeed Lovey had no ill-will towards the little one, nor did she plan anything to happen save for the little filly learning to swim. She eyed the water for a moment or two, getting ready for the hours of hair-drying that would ensue. The little one had best hope she didn't grow obscenely long hair as it was most defintely a nuisance. "Alright! Into the water and I'll follow to see how deep you can go still touching bottom!"

"Okay!" With only a little hesitation before putting that first hoof into the waves, Akila waded in as deep as she could. Wary of the way the water kept going up and down, the water was only halfway up her neck, though each swell brought it to nearly under her chin. "Is this deep enough, Lovey?"

Lovey moved carefully and quickly into the water, being sure to gauge how cold it probably would be for the little filly. She was much smaller and if it chilled her own coat then Akila would probably be drowning in cold. "Yes, alright now just push off with your legs and once you can't reach start to carefully push your back and front legs in the water like you're running. I'll be here to haul you back if needed so make sure you stay calm!"
