It's called Dancers, following on from last week's thread, in case there's anyone who doesn't know they're coming back. Also, you hadn't made a thread when I started typing the first post!

I know! The front pig was doing this weird little dancy thing! It was very funny!

Just a random medical note - Martha has been training as a doctor. If someone has been electrocuted, you're not supposed to touch them until you are ABSOLUTELY SURE they're not still charged with the electricity!
Even I know that and I'm not even an adult yet!

Le gasp...was this what happened before "The Last Dalek"?
*Ponders for a moment.*

This episode reminded me a lot of Torchwood (remember that? ;D) in that it was a shambolic entity devoid of any sense of direction or purpose beyond that of leaping from explosion to explosion O.o

I honestly don't know what the scripted prompt must have been to encourage a scene in which two daleks blow through a wall to take centre stage in a theatre whilst dragging their recently deposed leader with them upon a leash like a dog, either. For this reason alone I shall probably now consider this the scariest Doctor Who episode of all time forever more.

Having said that, Sec as a hybrid was irritating for the first five minutes of the episode and then I really started to like the way they played him. Having him pretty much turn into the Davros from Genesis of the Daleks by the end of it all was an awesome nod to the past, too. He gets two thumbs up for that :3

Martha pissed me off inordinately this episode, mostly because she did bugger all and her accent seems to be slowly deteriorating as if she's subconsciously mimicking Chavarella herself. The resolution was suitably chaotic and as nonsensical as the rest of the episode, and I still don't actually know why the daleks *had* to go into hiding in the sewers. The doctor was right, four daleks could conquer a planet. Especially a nineteen-thirties set planet.

Oh, and the daleks failed to exterminate the doctor A LOT in this episode. Sure Sec called them off occasionally, but come on...first they send the pigmen in the lift rather than go themselves, they miss chances at Hooverville and the theatre, then at the end Carn legs it rather than just toasting the lippy t**t. This was stretching credulity a little, surely. We *know* the daleks need the doctor just like the doctor needs the daleks, but there has to at least be a semblance that they're *trying* to annhilate him. Otherwise they just look ineffectual, which was what happened a lot here, which made it a confusing episode on the whole :s

Why did they not just kill Sec, rather than chain him up?

But overall, i liked the episode.

I liked it, because I like Doctor Who. But....

It was silly, really. A lot of the plot seemed to be a front for a huge moral point about genocide and humanity. Still fun, but the combination of morals and flashy special affects was just too much.

This one tried too hard in the end. Too many huge sweeping themes.
I will repeat - still fun.

Nah there have been loads of other stuff I found way to tacky before..like the moon, the witches. This was just more pig obession. The cool bit was the Macra and only because I am a fan of all the old old stuff they chuck in. Like the discription of gallifrey was somthing Willam Heartnell once said.

"Can you imagine silver leaves waving above a pool of liquid gold containing singing fishes? Twin suns that circle and fall in a rainbow heaven? Another world in another sky? If you come with me, I will show you all of this - and it will be, I promise you, the dullest part of it all."

I have been informed that this quote was also used later but my book credits Willam Heartnell and as It's on ofical book I am sticking to my story.

I was chewing my nails through this one! And I'm not really a nailchewer.

The bit that made me chew them most was when the Doctor was trying to get the Dalekanium off the mast and he dropped the sonic and took the lightning himself.

Overall, a pretty good episode, although I did laugh at the Emergency Temporal Shift. The Doctor's willingness to be exterminated was a bit strange though.

Favourite quote:

Doctor:
I have to go, the Daleks just changed their minds. Daleks never change their minds.

I'm not going to rant because I'm trying to be nice to the new series and it has been getting better I think... but...

The only thing worse than the fact that all the major plot points were repeats of stuff they'd already done (zombie-esque people, Doctor climbing tall mast, emotions conquering all, pig people, love between human and alien...) was the absolutely terrible science! I'm not asking for much, I'm a sci fi fan I take all sorts of science crap, but since when does lightning transfer DNA???

I didn't mind them mixing DNA up in a test tube and injecting it... fine... but lightning?

Plus, even if the zombie-Dalek-humans (who walk suspiciously like Cybermen...) had Timelord DNA, why would that stop them obeying orders? Timelords are suckers for obeying orders! They didn't absorb the Doctor's memories or feelings did they? They couldn't! *sobs*

And I agree with whoever asked why the heck they were walking Sec round like a kinky sex slave dog... Eh?

P.S. I know that's a rant. I'm sorry.

I think it was meant to be like in Frankenstein. The monster comes alive during a storm...
