I have a very serious issue, and it's nagging at me. It has all of these little rules that just piss me off.
I hate the english language.
...That's it.

Eh...people's German is becoming confusing!! I am a "grammar narc" as well, but yes, I agree. English is pretty stupid. Dummkopfs invented it. Other languages make so much more sense. I like Japanese. And romance languages are less irregular than English, which needs to eat activia. domokun narc indeed...

Hmm... I, personally, love the English language. It's so expressive, and you can pretty much say any one thing a hundred different ways. I love the emotion that you an infuse in your words with just minor changes in expression or inflection... I do, though, LOVE words and writing... maybe that makes me different.

I agree it's very articulate and beautiful used properly (like sex), but it's just so irregular and confluzzling.

Reviving thread yet again... i know...
But still, I think English is pretty simple, compared to other languages... Yeah, you could say something in like a million ways and probably in half the space than in other languages but for me it kind of lacks passion for that very same reason... You can find something like Pride and Prejudice, which is passionate to a degree of being like formal but it lacks in the aspect of being a little bit more savage if you get what I mean...
I could say something in english, but if I say it in spanish is more passionate or more romantic to say the least... When you write it or speak it you get to a point in which it feels more natural, more explicit... you get to elaborate more instead of omitting descriptions, which would otherwise make it more addictive or flattering...
Don't get me wrong... I love writing and I use english a lot... I'm just saying what it feels like for me... lol 3nodding

Aye, english grammar is very confusing. I speak english, but have trouble with grammar a lot. Might I recommend Japanese? it takes a bit of work, but it's pretty fun when you learn some of the words and phrases 3nodding

After reading '1984' my argument has become even more ingrained in my mind. It is VERY important, in my opinion, to be able to say the same thing a million different ways. The grammar of the English language really is not that difficult, despite the comparative difficulty. However, it is MUCH more free than most other languages. There are a lot of words in Spanish, as far as I know at least, where there is only one word for something. But in English, there is more than one word for almost everything, I believe. except for the articles, but... whatever. I do, though, believe that freedom is important for everything -- the freedom to say anything in any different way to anyone you want, is something that I believe to be truly important. It's the way that we show other people what we look like to ourselves. Diction is a very easy way to look into another's soul, in my opinion.
