The SW section has one, so why not this one? Well, now it does. I've got a friend who got me into Trek some time ago, and after I wacthed the TNG series, and talked to her about some ideas, I ended up making a story of my own. I can't post links since I never really saved them. ( Doh! ) However, I can describe the basis of it, and I do have some links to info on it. It takes place during the time of the Enterprise E, uniforms being black with purple shoulders, etc. The ship is called the Retaliation, and the main char and CO of the vessel is Col. Nemesis. Ship info: http://h1.ripway.com/TwilightVampire/Divinityspecs.jpgSenior Crew: http://h1.ripway.com/TwilightVampire/Divinityofficers.jpgThe ship itself is designed differently. It's more of a dagger-shape, opposed to a saucer shape. CHARACTER HISTORY:Nemesis was born from a human father and an E'lorian mother that died when she was young. ( NOTE: Since E'lorians are so long-lived and she's part E'lorian, Nemesis barely looks 18, despite being 29+ at the rank of Colonel and on. She maintains a young appearance throughtout the entirety of it. ) She had a knack for some skills and got into marine training. She was always within the top few of all her classes, and became a prodigal marine. She still didn't have all the experience since she was fresh from the academy, but she got a few medals and so forth rather quickly. She wasn't appreciated as much since her father is a Starfleet Admiral, and many believed she was being pushed through the ranks because of it. However, she earned everything she received. She ended up in a love affair with an officer aboard a ship she was serving on as a tactical officer and her lover turned out to be a traitor. After he attempted to flee with vital information, she had to lead a team in pursuit of him. She was the only one that caught up to him, the others falling a buit behind. They had a brief phaser fight, ending with the traitor dead and Nemesis losing her left eye. Ever since, she's had a red cybernetic eye to replace it, preferring an artificial look about it as a reminder to never make the same mistake again. Shortly after, she landed the chance to command a vessel of her, one of a few recently commissioned ships that make up the new Divinity Class. The original USS Divinity was destroyed due to an unfortunate mishap with its functions, but the others were thoroughly looked over and tweaked so that such a mishap would never occur again. She meets her new crew, takes her place as Colonel Nemsis, commanding officer of the USS Retaliation, and this is where it begins.
THE STORY: The Federation is trying to make peace with the Romulans, hoping to end the uneasy relations and bring forth a possible alliance. Meanwhile, the Borg are approaching ever so slowly. Commander Rivers takes a liking to his new superior, and falls in love with her over time. Still scarred from her previous failed relationship, she gives him the cold shoulder at every turn. After several patrol missions to maintain a quick reaction time in case something happened in their sector, they come across a new race known as the Gaexl.
The Gaexl are humanoid creatures with an adversion to anything unnatural. They are otherwise nearly identical in culture to Klingons, minus the code of honor. They are warriors, but don't have any problems doing underhanded things to win a battle. It eventually breaks out into a war. Nemesis becomes their most hated enemy after a number of encounters. Because of her cybernetic implanted she is reffered to by them as the " red-eyed demon. " It comes into a large scale assault byt the Gaexl against both the Federation and the Romulans. The Federation convincing them that their interests are mutual, the Romulans agree to combine forces and attack the Gaexl forces. The Gaexl are driven back, their forces crippled.
A final, somewhat devious and underhanded order falls into Nemesis's responsibilities. She is to take a team of other highly-trained and experienced marines onto the Gaexl homeworld and rig up a bomb that will cause the planet to fall apart. The bomb is supposed to make it untracable as to what really happened, making it appear that the planet collapsed on itself or something. Despite the obvious lack of standards and morals in the mission, Nemesis had to accept it. Surprisingly, their opposition on the planet was few in number. Their mission coming to a close, the Borg appear, and prevent the planet's destruction by rendering the bomb useless. The entire team of commandos is killed, save Nemesis. Something happens inside her and she increases in her abilities several fold for a few moments, slaughtering the Borg in the room before making an escape, and coming back to her normal duties.
She is visited by the Q. ( Not John DeLancie's Q character precisely, though it is supposed to be him a few times, but other Q as well, each varying in personality. ) The Q took notice of her sudden burst of power and bring her a revealation. Being part E'lorian, she has some manner of psychic powers, though they are very mild and mostly dormant. They foresee her becoming a god-like being in a few centuries. After a dire incident where the Retaliation is more or less doomed, she is forced into agreeing to join the Q when they deem her ready so that they would have no worry of an unsurpassed godly being roaming free that could destroy the universe without the right control, etc. In exchange, her ship and crew are kept safe from harm, but she must start to look into her powers as time goes on and evolve.
It's back to the usual patrolling with random incidents here and there, Nemesis getting some control of very mild powers. She is capable of limited clarvoyant vision, can see into the immediate future ( though it's usually not enough to understand how to alter anything ) and at times, she blacks out as a result of a psychic overload. As well, her powers activate on their own on random occassions, since she lacks the proper control.
During the course of everything so far, Nemesis slowly realizes that her 1st officer truly does love her, and finally gives him a chance. They start dating on the side so that it doesn't intefere with their duties, and eventually, she finds that she shares the same feelings for him.
The quiet time is over when she and some of her crew are sent on an undercover mission aboard a luxury cruiser. They are to keep an eye on a specific individual that is believed to have vital information and deal with it as the situation demands. Enough of them go so that someone is always able to enjoy the ride while someone else is always on the job, so it's not all bad... Until a Gaexl raiding party shows up. The ship is crippled as the Gaexl forces invade the vessel and take over. Everyone is captured, including Nemesis and her crew. The moment the chance arrives, they fight against their captors and escape from them, running into a room where a figure is standing. Still in their bonds, they're helpess against what they assume is a Borg, only to be shocked to see it's a Gaexl as the figure turns to face them. Unlike the others, he doesn't see them as enemies.
The Gaexl frees them from their bonds and explains that he sees the truth. The Borg showed up shortly after the Gaexl forces and both are fighting each other. He was the victim of an assimilation attempt, however, as the Gaexl have abnormal immune systems that are extremely anti-non-organic, he did not succumb to will of the Collective. However, his supposed comrades immediately rejected him as an abomination. When asked his name, he introduces himself as Arcanus. After a short conversation between him and Nemesis, he decides to help them.
The ship starts falling apart. The sudden shift in the artificial gravity convinces them that they don't have long, since the life support systems are failing. Nemesis stays behind while everyone else makes it to escape pods. Alone, she decides to use the ship itself to block the Borg from the pods so that they can get away safely. The ship is destroyed in the process with her still aboard.
Nemesis finds herself in a void of nothingness. One of the Q approaches her. He tells her that she can't die just yet, as that would screw up their plans for her, but warns her to not mistake that as a promise they'll always save her if she recklessly throws her life in danger. The Q warps her back through time, moments before the ship is destroyed. However, a tiny change is made. An extra escape pod is waiting for her use, and the ship is destroyed agian, but this time Nemesis makes it out.
The Borg turn back. The Gaexl have been oblierated. What remains of their race was assimilated, Arcanus being the only one left. After a short time Arcanus is granted the chance to help out, and finds himself aboard the Retaliation as a new officer.
Time goes on, and all Hell breaks loose. The Romulans are now allies with the Federation, but at a high price. The Klingons lose faith in their trust of the Federation and become enemies. At the same time, the Borg show up in Federation space. An all-out war for survival starts.
Nemesis is promoted to Brigadier General, and given more authority to help with defenses. The Federation holds a valiant defense, but is slowly losing against the Borg. Every so often there's a few less ships in service, and 1 or 2 more planets that fell to the Borg.
It ends with all sides crippled. Very few ships are in service for the Federation, Romulans, and Klingons. The Borg back off for unknown reasons. The Federation then attempts to rekindle old ties and rebuild, as well as continue to discover new worlds and once again flourish.
It goes into the epilogue part here. Nemesis continues to slowly control her powers and maintains a loving relationship with her 1st officer. Years turn into decades, and Rivers is lost without a trace when he himself flies his own ship in a kamikaze charge into an enemy as a last ditch effort. The decades then turn into centuries. Nemesis has mastered her powers very well, and embarks on a final mission. Aboard a new ship with a new crew, she herself causes the ship to warp into the heart of Borg space. She looks at the main Borg vessel on the viewscreen and holds her hands out. It vanishes from the screen and appears in her hands, where she crushes it, and all the Borg are spontaniously destroyed, erased from the universe. A quick return trip, she is approached by a Q, who tells her she has reached the point of her ascension, and it's time to join the Continuum. She retires from service, and after a short farewell to the heads of Starfleet, she makes her way into an empty hall, where she snaps her fingers, and vanishes. She appears back in time to the moment before Rivers's ship makes impact on the enemy vessel in his kamikaze charge, with time frozen. Picking him up from where he's seated, she comments " Huh, so that's why there was no trace of him at all. " and vanishes again, taking him with her. They both reappear on Risa in her present time ( which is about 300 years into the future from the storyline time ) and she turns him into a Q as well, giving him the same eternal youth she has as well as the same limitless knowledge. It ends there with an alternate intro the way TNG does, only it's Nemesis talking, and though I can't remember the exact words I had before, it goes something like this: " Space... The final frontier, unless you're me. These are the voyages of several races as they explore interesting worlds and seek out new life. I only wish I could share the entirety of what there is to see with you all... To show you all the marvels the universe has to offer. "
