Overall, there is no "perfect theme". If you look at the avi arena at current (week 17) You will se loads of wraiths. This is due to the lunar scythe. But, although looking quite cool, they won't win (or at least i don't think they will) as there are so many.
To get te perfect looking avi, you must get a theme and work with it. Some of the common ones are....
1) cosplay 2) Pixie/fairy/spirits 3) Someone in real life Sinister Element Based

If you have seen an avi you like, copy the page it's on, and send it to me.... preferably avis that are in the arena, as they tend to be best!

I see your point(s) on the disreguard of themes, but if you look at the rexcent winners, they do all seem to have themes!

i think that the themes are important. i guess mine is an elemental theme, and my friends say it looks cool
