Amber Ying-Hui (Mandarin Chinese for Strong Blessing) was born at 3:04pm on Wednesday, April 18th, 5 weeks early, and measuring only 2lbs 12oz and 14.5in. She is unusually small and so was my placenta which they think couldn't keep up with her growing needs or her amniotic fluid, thus she showed signs of distress that she needed out!
She was flown air med evac to Albuquerque to be in the NICU and hubby flew with her. His mom and sister drove up (hour and a half) to fetch our older daughter and bring her down there while I stayed in the hospital recovering through Friday. On Friday hubby drove me down to finally see and hold Amber. I'm staying with his parents in Albuquerque for the next 3 weeks or so while she's in the NICU, visiting daily, and pumping milk for her. Hubby and daughter are doing half-weeks back home to attend work and school on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, and coming down to be with me and the baby on Thursdays through Sundays. It is tough recovering without them, and also hard being away from home.
Here are some pictures to share.
