This is just a list of some sites/things that have been recommended to me since I wanted to learn more about Judaism. In case anybody feels the same, here's a list, which is FAR from all-encompassing.

Websites*quoted from Divash; thanks for the information!! biggrin *
http://www.chabad.org -- Excellent outreach with a Chasidic outlook
http://www.rosenblums.com -- Large Judaica store (spend your money in the Jewish community, not by Amazon!)
http://www.convert.org -- A Conservative rabbi's view on conversion, also contains much information for a Jew who wants to be more Jewishly educated
http://www.jewfaq.org -- An Orthodox man's research, but also sensitive to non-Orthodoxy.
http://modestworld.com/laws.html -- An Orthodox approach to modesty, mostly geared towards women, but men benefit from this as well, since the laws are very similar. The only difference is WHAT you use to cover yourself: trousers versus skirts, a kippah/yarmulkeh versus a wig/scarf/snood/cap/hat.

Books

ReVisions: Seeing Torah Through A Feminist Lens - Rabbi Elyse Goldstein
To Be A Jewish Woman - Lisa Aiken
The Red Tent - Anita Diamant (fiction, but very well written)
Embracing the Covenant: Converts to Judaism Talk About Why & How - edited by Rabbi Allan L. Berkowitz and Patty Moskovitz
Body & Soul: A Handbook for Kosher Living (call 1-888-GO-KOSHER; I think the suggested donation is about $15)
The Reform Judaism Reader - Meyer & Plaut
The Chosen - Chaim Potok
The Promise - Chaim Potok
Sarah The Priestess - Teubal
Becoming a Jew - Maurice Lamm
A Hedge of Roses - Norman Lamm
To Pray as a Jew - Rabbi Hayim Halevy Donin
Settings of Silver: An Introduction to Judaism - Stephen M. Wyler
Life on the Fringes - Haviva Ner-David
Living Judaism- Rabbi Wayne Dosick
Judaism for Dummies - Rabbi Ted Falcon, Ph.D. and David Blatner
A Guide To Running A Jewish Household -Blu Greenberg

What's up with all the posts that keep happening during Shabbat or the holidays?

Heh. I'd wondered whether folks were outside the Western Hemisphere and therefore their Shabbat was over while mine was just beginning, or whether folks simply weren't shomer Shabbat.

Does it say your time zone or theirs? I don't post on Shabbos, but I never got around to setting the time zone on mine, so it could read that. sweatdrop

The posts say your own timezone, unless you haven't set it, in which case it shows everything in Pacific Time. It's impossible to tell what time it was for someone else.

As much as I see the scientific and rational use of timezones, it's annoying that you can't talk to people at the same time as you. xp

They may be having some site issues. It's been a while since I visited there, so I don't know what's up there.
