With the weather finaly resembling Spring, though some of the breezes that gusted through the park and nudged the crocuses and early rising plants were still somewhat chilly, even some of the most Curmudgeonly sorts found themslves out of doors more often. This, in this case, included the faintly gargoylesque figure of Erik Nihls, who was, in equally uncharcteristic gesture, trying to practice and review out of doors, though if an viewer were to judge by the ripped open pack of markers and construction paper, and the large sign taped to his music stand that read "PRACTICING!!!!!" The day hadn't gone terribly well so far, though he was hoping that, having found a comparatively remote corner of the green, he might, might....have a little peace without being mistaken for a vagrant. Though all things considered, his self righteous indignation was embarassingly tempered by being forced to accnowledge that his clothing could be...by some...mistaken for something of an semi victorian hobo.

It was another increasingly beautiful day. The woman could tell by the scent of blooming or growing flowers, she could hear the leaves in the breeze, and the air was getting a bit warmer. But the light wind of spring was perfect and cooling, tousling her white hair that sometimes slipped across her cheeks.

Taeria was walking slowly, one hand confidently in her pocket, right hand gripping her ivory cane with a proud wolf-head on the top. The cane was her guide, mainly as reassurance. She could 'feel' where people were, having obtained something of a sixth sense with her blindness. It was shocking to see her avoiding people on the street, though some recognized her as blind due to the cane and forward stare, clearing her a path. The rest, she would dodge around when she'd feel or hear them near or tap a foot with her cane.

Finally, she reached her destination. One of her usual places she always came before the 'incident.' It was nice and calm around this area. And quiet. Not very many people, and that made her happy as she was able to be. Taeria stood perfectly still nearby, just listening, both hands on top of one another on the cane, leaning into it slightly. Her lips held a slight smile. Someone else was here, rustling around with items and paper. Before she freaked them out, she stepped in the general direction of a tree until her cane hit the base of it. She pressed her back to it and lowered to her feet, back flat against the bark as she sat straight. Eyes closed, and she breathed in, deep in thought. What was she doing...?

The rustling of paper stopped at the sound of her cane against the tree, though it's silence was underscored by the sound of the music stand tipping over with an metalic clatter and an curse of "Oop! DAMN!" Startled by the sound of the cane, and the sight of the woman, who in his distraction, he'd failed to hear approaching, he'd bumped into his music stand, knocking it over. "Sorry I was just...." He gestured, at his things, one hand still gripping the music, and then floundered some more, tugging at his shirt cuffs as he realized where the sound of the tap had come from. "....I hope I'm not in the way. I was setting up to practice my violin...." He cleared his throat slightly, glancing her over, not sure quite how to handle this situation. "I can move..."

For a moment, Taeria concentrated on what she was doing. Inhaling, thinking, keeping her back on the tree. Then her back relaxed, and her eyes opened.

Head shook and her smile widened. The clumsiness was rather cute to her, and amusing. It actually got a little giggle out of her, something very rare. Apparently, going out and about was a lot better than moping at home. "You're fine, dear. I could use some amusing company." Though she was speaking to him, she still stared ahead. Cane had been placed horizontally in her lap, and now that she was relaxed, she was just using the tree for back support, instead of... whatever weirdness she was doing. Crazy, or... what? One would only have to question it if they were curious.

Hands gripped the cane in her lap, still. She realized just now... she seemed to always have a hand on it, never letting it go... else her world would shatter, she'd be lost amongst the crowd, and never find her way home. The cane really IS a reassurance...

"...I'm amusing? Thats a first." he chuckled slowly, tucking papers under his arm that smell faintly of age and dust. He wasn't used to being amusing, though he was starting to relax faintly, if only faintly. He didn't know her, she wasn't part of 'that court'. Or he didn't think she was. "Well, I suppose you can be my test audience for a bit then? Any preferences?" He asked, righting the music stand and using metal clips to afix the music, to prevent it from blowing away before he knelt again and clicked open the locks on his violin case. This too has a decided scent of age, old leather, gently handled wood that smells like many loving hands, but most of all his. His own scent is an strange mix of things, which includes faint traces of something that might be an well faded trace of blood, dust, something animal....and of all thigns....caramels.
His own anchor against the chaos was his violin. Not the finest piece of work, but one he'd become long familiar with. It was his focus, the one thing that seemed capable of withstanding time, or at least, the music it represented did. He was fragile. His violin was fragile, even the post powerful vampire was, to some degree...fragile. He'd seen examples of it, and wondered if he'd live long enough to feel the ugly pull of a mind too tired to grasp the changes of the world, weepingly trying to crawl back into the past and pretend that the present simply was not.

"Play me your favorite, stranger. I do love real music such as this," her smile was ever present, if not a bit wider, teeth bared in all her joy... even some weird little fangs, four of them on her upper section of teeth, though small. His scent was strong, at least to her, and a very unique one. So unique, she could pluck him from the city crowd a mile away, or even more! And it was a surprisingly pleasant scent, highly enjoyed!

But why did he smell of blood? He's either a murderer, a vampire, or bleeds from his man-thing and has PMS for men. The first one was hard to believe, her judgement told her this man wasn't some mass murderer. He could be a vampire... but it was clear daylight... and the PMS was just a joke to make herself smile. Being blind made telling these kinds of things so much harder... sigh.

Then she turned her head, looking in his direction, perhaps a tiny bit off, just using her ears and sixth sense to locate him. It was a gesture to show he had her attention, and her curiosity.

"My favorate?" He debated, lifting the violin to his chin and pulling the bow across lightly, testing the sound thoughtfuly. Her sharp teeth caught his attention, different from the fangs he'd seen on most vampires. Most Nospheratu ghouls, even if they were unfortunate enough to pick up their donors more outward traits, usualy developed a full maw, and even an flesh crafted follower from some of the darker clans tended to have an 'all or none' philosophy on reshaping the mouths of their servants. Somehow she didn't strike him as ghoul at all...maybe more what he was? A half breed? One of natures little 'oops' moments, when something that was supposed to be dead made something that wasn't. Dhampir were rare though, maybe one in a thousand vampires, and given the low population of vampires in the world, that was pretty few, which would make the coincidence of meeting another extraordinarily strange.
His own mouth even had a trace of 'fang', but not the double set, a little more wolfish.....
Dear god, she wasn't a shapeshifter was she? Couldn't be...could she? Every story he'd ever been told said she'd have been chewing his leg off so she could use it to beat him with by now....
"I don't know that I have a favorate per se..." He admitted, returning to his tuning for a moment. "Though I heard a rendition of an classical peice I wouldn't mind trying. Someone put it to an much more modern tempo. Much faster. More difficult." He contemplated out loud.
"Thats quite a smile. You haven't even heard me play yet." He fished, thoughtfuly, still trying to puzzle out this strange woman. The teeth...the hair....it was either an very elaborate job of roleplay, or she wasn't any more human than he was. Though being inhuman looked a lot better on her.

((the surprised picture: <3 http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/54039941/ Maybe he's reacting to her teeth? XD <3))

"What can I say, I told you I enjoy music. I'm not so much one for most of the music nowadays... rap, hip hop, R&B, stuff like that. I'm an old-fashioned woman." A curteous bow of her head, smile obviously there to stay for gods know how long, all the while showing off her double set of canids. Woof.

Had she a tail right now, it'd be wagging. She felt like it was, though she was in her flesh, rather than her fur. It'd take her a while to figure out if he was inhuman, or build up the courage to ask without coming off as insane.

Milky eyes closed, and she waited, listened... very intently.

"You strike me as rather young to be 'old fashioned', so we'll put it down to good taste. How does that sound?" He offered out, adjusting the violin to play. As long as she didn't turn that 'The better to eat you' Smile on him with a mind to use her good taste on him He considered, though having the violin in place rather put an pause on his ability to converse, so he communicated instead with music, starting into the stains of Bach, starting out slowly then picking up speed gradually, trying not to loose the intensity of the piece. He knew a few more obscure peices, one of the traits of knowing people who'd been walking darkened streets before Rome fell, but the more harder to reference the peice, the more likely he kept it to a very selective sort of audience.
Still, he was frustrated to note that he still couldn't quite match the peice as he wanted to. When he was first learning, his tutor had been convinced that he'd be aa savant, a genious, a master of the violin. He'd never become anything more, even to his own ears, than an particularly good mimic. Something always seemed to be missing.

((Difficult to respond to, so feel free to just assume we skip over to the end of the peice unless you randomly want branches or something to fall on Nihls in protest. XD <3))

"I stick to most of the ways of past reincarnations," she said blatantly, uncaring of who knew her beliefs. She hushed and listened silently throughout the piece, almost ready to get up and perform a lovely dance with some invisible phantom of grace. But... she hadn't danced since she could still SEE. After her incident, that hobby was murdered as were most things and people in her life.

When he came to a stop, she awarded him with her constant smile, a giggle, and applause, "Bravo! Bravicimo! Very beautiful indeed." She was no violinist, but she knew what she liked. The artist is their worst critic, so if he downed himself, she'd react and boost his esteem!

"So what is your name, violinist?" Her eyes were staring at him now... a creepy feeling to some, when a blind woman is looking at you! Yet, all it means, is she knows exactly where you are.

He lowered the bow from the strings thoughtfuly, curiosity peaked by this bold admission of an curious faith.
"I'm glad to have an appreciative fan. Last time I tried to play out doors, people threw coins at my violin case, which caused a wonderful discussion about weather or not I was soliciting people. A wry tone at this, to match a grim smile.
"But Reincarnation? Thats an theory you don't hear many people talking about these days. Which school do you follow? I'm under the impression that there are a few of them..."
It always made him wonder where Dhampires fell into the scheme of things, and full vampires, who in some theory, lost their soul when they became undead. Did that mean that thier soul reincarnated while their body lived on? That could be horendously confusing.
"My Name is Erik Nihls, by the way." He offered, uncertain of weather or not he should offer a hand. Her seeming blindness clashed with the certainty with which she looked his direction. "And yours?"

"What I lack in eyesight, I make up for in many other areas, such as brains. Most people who can see, don't use their eyes too well," a cocky smile for once.

She extended her hand forward, hoping he'd do the rest and take her hand to shake. "Merry meet my dear, I am Taeria Farrell."

After the handshake, "I'm a solitary Pagan," she replied. There were many, many versions of paganism under that big umbrella, and she was just one of several. "Well, ever since I left my pack to find a mate, that is." She accidentally slipped... either that or felt she could trust the man. It just popped out! She bit her lip with a double-set of canines upon realization of what she said, looking a bit nervous. Would he think her crazy?

"Well you're not missing anything to look at, Miss Farell...." He quipped, carefuly fitting the bow and violin into one hand to free his own to shake. His own hand is slightly cool, not a weak grip but an boney one. Calloused and long fingered, but definitely faintly cooler than most peoples. Especially for someone who's just run through their paces on an violin, though in the handshake, it's probably quite obvious that he tenses with nerves the moment the word 'pack' registers, and he forces himself to relax in incriments as he continues, clearing his throat.
"You're a very strong woman aren't you? A lone practitioner, an open beleiver in reincarnation....and a shapeshifter strong enough to be out on her own. Thats....very impressive from my.....very feeble grasp on things." He said slowly, guessing that she'd possibly pegged him for something not quite human himself before she'd even stepped out. His half vampire blood made him not truly enjoy open sunny days, but right now he felt very very grateful for this one. Hard to get away with a mauling on a sunny day in the park. There was a chance she was just fishing, but it seemed slim, given the rumors he'd heard about the powerful shapeshifting races. "I...presume you're not hunting anything at the moment?"
PostPosted: Tue May 08, 2007 5:17 am

He caught her by surprise! Not only did he not call her insane, but he recognized her being. "Shapeshifter," she mused, smirking and bearing a double-fang. "Well," she whispered with a shockingly eerie giggle, "My pack and I do not call ourselves Shapeshifters, but yes that is what we are. We are Loup-Garou," the words slipped past her lips in a silky soft pronounciation,
loo gah-roo,' where a lot of people said it the more roughly tongued way. Clearly, she was a graceful woman, and the way she said it, maybe her family and friends were as well?

Hunting? Was he... scared? Scared moreso than the average human. It made her wonder... what really is he? She thought vampires were the ones who intimidated her kind, but... they did usually do it out of fear. She felt the aching need to reassure this kind man, however. "No need to fear, my friend. I only hunt small animals in the woods. Squirrels, birds, mice, fish from the river, rabbits... sometimes deer, they were a favorite. Even though it's become a slightly harder task, I may only use my nose and hearing now, and a slight sixth sense where I can... feel where things are by vibrations in the air." She put her hand out toward him. She could feel the surge in the air...

Wait a tick... that's more like energy than just some random surge of phyiscal vibration. The wolfess had a suddenly delighted expression, like she just came to a life changing revelation! And... she had. She felt impatient to contact a particular pack member when she got home, now.

Nihls relaxed, faintly, but relaxed never the less. A slow unwinding of tence muscles. "So nothing with two legs? Oh thats good to hear..." She could of course be lying, but where would the point be? She had him where she wanted him. "That must be...rather incredible." He admitted, listening to her description of how she saw the world. "....Sound must play some part in that then?" He eyed her hand for a moment, as they'd just shaken hands, not certain what she intended otherwise, though her expression makes him turn cautious again, if only because he has no idea what she means by it.
"Forgive me for being just a bit paranoid, I've never heard anything about LoupGarou that didn't include someone getting hurt, usualy not the LoupGarou...."
