Quote: It had been a long time since Rahima had travelled in step with another. Her children, when young, had often run up ahead, trailed along behind or been carried carefully between her fangs. When hunting with others, everyone had their places that were stategic rather than social and she'd often been the one to flush prey towards an ambush alone due to her vivid colouring. Since Ewan and Nogea had left the family den to seek their own fortunes Rahima had been mostly alone.
So it was both novel and oddly nice to be trying to match the strides of Akamu. Simularly it was both strange and comfoting to be able to glance sideways and see him. The large male was protection as well as companionship on this little venture, and something about his red pelt made her feel more at home. At ease with herself.

“The ocean it really something different... Rahima; it’s like a pool of cool colors toppling over each other as the tide settles in. It has waves that just pull in and out freely without care or worry... and it can be as welcoming as it can be freighting.”
As the two moved onward Akamu smiled over at her periodically and spoke out freely, enjoying the conversation the two shared. He had grown attached to her and found himself adoring her soft gaze. Rahima was just good company and made him feel... safer in a way.
Funny how that worked. He was so large after all; if he ever told her how he felt; like she protected him... she would think he was out of his mind, for sure.
His green eyes narrowed as he pulled them from her form and sighed deeply, taking in the air around himself softly.
“I am sure you will love it.”

Quote: The tide?" The word was new. Rahima repeated back the term, turning her head though she stilled walked straight, to smile a questioning smile his way. Luckily it wasn't a word that required skill to pronouce. Akamu was her guide and guardian, and she was swifty becoming fond of his friendship. In many ways they were simular and she was sure he wouldn't mock such a question.Old lions could still learn new tricks despite what 'they' might say.
The birth pride Hima'd been born into was much like the Firekin in many respects. Fixation on military attributes, on a spacific fur colour with connections to divinity and notebly in this case their arid living conditions. But even visiting the Mistweaver valley, were there was once pools and rivers and falls, the red female had never heard yet of the tides.

“Yes, the tide.”
He spoke again with a soft nod before thinking to himself once more. How would he explain this to her...?
“It’s the ocean water pulling in and out... it can be a soft tide or a rough tide depending on the climate and the time of day. It’s not like the Mist valley... the ocean it a huge body of water, stretching out over many... many miles. It’s really just as far as the eye can see! I swear it. It’s just... you really have to see it to understand.”
And oh how Akamu longed to show her what he spoke of. This place that he now called home was so strange yet… it soothed him and made him feel at peace with himself and his inner daemons. The soft waves seemed to carry away all of his worry.
“I can’t wait to show you. We are close...”
His black toed paws shifted as he moved himself a bit closer to her, as if to keep a better eye on her and the lands around them. He didn’t want any harm to come to her after all.

Quote: "So it's like the water's breathing upon the shore? Rippling in and out, in and out..." The ripples caused by waterfalls, the wind across a sea of grass, the rise and fall of a ribcage - Rahima tried to piece them all together. It was hard to imagine, that much water as far as the eye can see, moving. Soon though she'd actually be here. From Akamu's discriptions she was going to fall in love with this ocean of his.
"I can't wait to see it myself. Thank you so much for this, I'd have taken a while to find it on my own."
If she noticed he'd moved closer to Rahima didn't give any sign of noticing beyond that same small smile she wore so often. For a while, she went back to looking at the surrounding lands and glancing at him during a companionable silence. Until suddenly she stopped perplexed and lifting her face to scent the air better.
"I may be going mad, but it's getting stronger. It's not blood, of course, but something upwind is nothing but salt." Rahima felt stupid. The tides question wasn't so bad. This however? Rediculas.

“Haha! That’s the ocean water! Come on Rahima... I’ll race you there!”
He was acting like a cub again, moving his paws up a down with tender joy and excitement and for a moment he almost forgot his old age and was flirting with the idea of just pinning her down and laughing with her… like how he use to play when he was so very small. His eyes went wide as a playful smile passed his dark maw and with a soft nudge for his forhead he moved himself closer to her and spoke again, trying to provoke her inner cub. He wanted to see her inner flame spark; he wanted to see her muscles move with suspense.
“Lets go!”
With his last words Akamu moved himself into a mad dash, pushing out his large paws. His black and white mane danced within the wind as he started off a head of her, laughing aloud.

Quote: "Oh no you don't!" Rahima lowered her head and chased after him, laughing as she picked up speed. Pushing herself and enjoying it, she managed to not fair too badly. Well enough to playfully bat at his shoulder at one point with a velveted paw as they raced and bounded along - and invitation to play.
The inner Rahima cub, who'd never really been a youngester in truth but had been brought out by her children's cubhoods rejoiced.

“Hey!”
Akamu laughed as pulled his gaze back to her and without any real words stopped his moment and turned around to face her. By this time they were already moving onto the sandy shore of the beach; the ocean water could be seen glittering with beauty just a few feet ahead, past a small sand-covered slope that lay just ahead of them. His paws pushed past her shoulders and neck as he jumped at her, tackling her softly to the ground. Though he used force he didn’t in anyway harm her, he knew better then that, he would never harm her! - Akamu simply wanted to play.
He wanted to be so young again and care free... as he fell onto her his body rolled forward and his paws wrapped around her, as if he knew that she would be forced to come topping down the sandy hill with him he let a soft chuckle pass his chest as the two rolled down the hill slowly. His eyes closed tightly as the two came to a stop, his body rolling over hers and hers rolling over his one last time.
When he reopened his eyes he was beside her with a paw held tightly around her. His body was slightly arched over her own and a silly grin passed his maw as he gazed at her with soft eyes. They were both covered in a thin layer of sand now and his mane was a mess but this didn’t seem to bother him any. He simply lay there and laughed, resting his head back down onto the moist sand below them.
They were just a few feet away from the ocean now

Quote: It was an odd sound that came from Rahima, when her soft snarl of surprise that lacked any malice have given way to a mix between laughter and purring. The former died in favour of the latter as they lay on the sand. She hadn't had this much fun in so long! She reached over, placing a paw on his shoulder and stretching her neck out to nudge him playfully around about his throat where his mane was thick and fluffed up with sand. With warm eyes and a grin she got to her feet afterwards and shook off the sand like it was water, showering his with it anew.
"Coming for a swim?" Rahima finially took her eyes off her laughing friend to fully look at the sea. The sea! What had been her last goal in life before Akamu had give her new purpose. It was amazing. It was massive beyond all belief. It made her whole expression light up like a cub discovering something new and wonderful.
"Oh we just have to." The thought made her smile down at him, asking and nudging for him to get up so they could go.

As soon as she moved herself from his side a wide grin passed his dark maw. She seemed so happy now, gazing out at the waves without a worry in the world. He was happy to see such a sight, she needed to be happy. She needed to smile always.
He moved himself up and with a soft nod padded behind her and smiled again before shifting his paws into the ocean waters. The cool feeling against his fur made him purr softly to himself. He adored the water, and it was an odd thing to see, such a large Firekin… standing still with the most silly simple upon his maw, gazing out at the ocean. He was a walking contradiction.
He gazed at her backside as he passed her slowly and moved deeper into the water, until it hit his chest line. There he wiggled about and moved slowly within the water, splashing every now and then, giving her a kind yet playful look.

Rahima took much longer to get into the water, for all her urging Akamu to go for a swim. She stopped to watch him as he over took her, noting how content he seemed, and the rumble of his purr. It was good to see him so happy and peaceful. The ocean had that effect.
When the sea went back, she padded down to place a paw delicately in the cold white surf. And when it came rushing back to meet her she laughed and bounded back. Like a kitten batting at the water and retreating. Three times, she played tag with the waves before giving in - it wasn't too cold and it did look so fun. With a look Akamu's way, she took the plunge, running forward into the sea until she was in so that she had to hold her head up and the water lapped over her shoulders. She swam about him playfully, and experimented. She'd never swam in salt water before and a quick sip told her not to drink it. But despite this, Rahima adored the ocean and thanked her lucky stars she'd met Akamu.

“Ha-ha, you look like you are enjoying yourself.”
Akamu beamed with a soft smile and batted at wet paw at her nose as she passed him once. He was so glad to see that the ocean had not overwhelmed her and that she was enjoying herself.
He wiggled himself beside her and slowly lowered his body into the water, until it hit just at his chin. He sat there for a moment and gazed at her before completely letting himself become lost within the waves. He had vanished! - And only tiny bubbles lat left in his place.

"Akamu??"
Now, Rahima, was of course a cat. And she was a cat that did like water, somewhat. But she still baulked at the idea of putting her face under salty, eye stinging water. She could see the red of her companions fur through the water and he seemed okay. Not drowning or smarting from the salt. So she paddled her way away a little bit so she could be sure not to kick him, and waited for him to surface.
Meanwhile, there was the horizon to stare at until he did. It seemed further away, across the unbelievable expanse of water. Blue faded into blue...it was like nothing she'd ever seen. It made her feel so small and insignificant but in a good way. Rahima felt like she could come and go, her children would come and go, and a thousand generations could come and go and the ocean would still be there. Regardless.
It was good to play in and seemed crocodile free, as well as spiritually comforting. She should have come to the beaches years ago, when she was young.

Resurfacing slowly the large male laughed and let his full mane out with a twist of the head. Water went flying in every direction and it soon fell limp against his face and chest. The black and white strands of mane felt heavy with water still but that didn’t bother him much, he had grown to love the water even though it was salty.
He took his time opening his eyes though, he didn’t want them to sting but when he did open them, the first thing that he saw was Rahima’s soft face. She was gazing off into the distance… enjoying the view. It was a lovely sight, indeed.
He moved himself closer to her now and let his body slowly resurface, just enough to see the outline of his black toed paws. His fur was so wet now and it dripped all over.
”It’s quite a sight, if I do say so myself.”
He spoke out to her softly and gazed at her with his envy colored eyes. They were full and glanced over with tears it seemed. Tears… perhaps water from the ocean, at this point it was hard to tell.

"Yes..." Rahima gave the view a long gaze, then turned to face him once more. One eyebrow rose, questioning, her expression soft and joking. It did just seem so contradicting to see the large Akamu, who many would automatically assume to be a fierce warrior by looks alone, seemingly weeping at the beautiful scenery. While it looked endearing, she was in such a cub-ish mood she couldn't help but tease him.
"Now. A big strong male like you can't be crying, can you?" She purred.
