A few things I discovered help with beginning to eat healthy:
1. If you're addicted to soda, switch over to Mexican soda or another type without corn syrup (I don't recommend that diet stuff for this purpose.) Give it a month, then try to give up soda. Much easier than going cold turkey. Be cautious, though. You may end up addicted to juice. wink
2.Carry a water bottle. If it's in reach, we'll put it in our mouths- we see this all the time with babies. Put something without calories, fat, or anything else in your reach- water.
3.If you don't like it...why the heck are you eating it?!? If there's an unhealthy food you're eating that you aren't fond of, stop. And- unless you hate all vegetables on the planet- you can cut most of the ones you can't stand, stick mostly to the ones you like, you'll end up eating more of the good stuff. (Though make sure you DO get a varitey. Try cooking the ones you don't like differently. I've found that, personally, I can only withstand certain vegetables if they're soaked in lemon juice. 3nodding )
4.Substitues. No I-can't-belive-it's-not-butter or anything like that. Olive oil instead of butter, fruit instead of jelly, etc. You've certainly heard other people say this before.
5.Warm is a flavor. Ever eaten a pancake without syrup? Cook one, and eat it while it's still warm. Not half bad, right? I eat warm pancakes, not syrupy ones, how about you? whee

Added tips:
Make your own dishes, you know much more about what goes in it.
Soda: Diet sodas have Aspertame, not good for you. Most diet sodas are also made with Splenda, probably not good for diabetics since it's made from SUGAR.
Get your whole family in it. It's hard to eat healthy when no one around you helps.
Stock up on fruit and vegetables so you have something besides chips to reach for between meals.
Eat a handful of nuts, they are good for you.

Also, look at it at a different view. Would you rather eat a grease covered potato piece or a nice, shiny, crisp apple? I would rather eat the apple.
