First of all, I would like to introduce myself to all the members. Yes, I'm new, and being so I thought I would let you know my tastes in literature. They vary widely... From Stephen King, to Sprague de Champ. A large book to me is a challenge, not a roadblock. I even attempted to read a dictionary when I was younger. Word of advice: don't do this unless your really... REALLY bored! or strange, like me. (though it did make an improvement on my spelling) I will not correct ppl for typos or shorthand. Post freely in here with your impressions from books from your favorite authors, or ideas you get from texts. And I will try to oblige everyone as best as possible. ^.^

Mm, I'm not much of a fiction people any more. I started reading Dodie Smith's I Capture The Castle, but I rarely just sit in my bedroom so I'm on chapter... three? And I read a random Narnia book at a friend's the other day, just because they're legendary.
-drags out favourite list on profile-
# Dragonriders of Pern series - Anne McCaffrey # Watership Down - Richard Adams # Jonathan Livingston Seagull - Richard Bach
Okay, I may have I thing about animal sub-cultures.

I'm a big reader, actually. I have a blog spot on WordPress where I do book reviews, and let Google Adsense and Adbrite peddle their wares to people. I just finished the companion novels A Great and Terrible Beauty, and Rebel Angels, both by Libba Bray, and I'm just finishing Corydon and The Island of Monsters by Tobias Druitt. If you want... come see my reviews... My Reviews!

Has anyone ever read "Ender's Game"? by Orson Scott Card, awesome read if you like scifi. But I actually liked reading Shakespeare plays, Hamlet, or Macbeth are good ^.^ Never fell for Romeo and Juliet as well though. Too bad some authors aren't really appreciated until they pass away. oh and I love to read about ancient civilizations, or bizarre phenomenon. Like Native Americans, or odd things like the Bermuda Triangle. I remember something about Dante's Inferno...about a volcano or some siesmic activity. I never, unfortunately, read the book though. I love reading more than watching adapted movies because it leaves it open for your own mind to paint

Lol, volcano? It's about a late 13th century poet narrating a path through Hell, guided by the ancient author (and resident of Limbo; the first ring of Hell) of the Aenid, Virgil. And I've finished it. Right now I'm reading Understanding Dante, which is a non-fiction reference towards understanding the complete and entire system of Dante Alighieri's works, including the libello, Vita Nova (New Life) which contains the first poems of Dante's life, written when he was nine years old, proclaiming his love for Beatrice in both his new style of writing, and a Calvalcantian style of writing. A full review of this book is Coming Soon to: My Reviews

Annimalicious Right now, I'm reading an adapted, modernized version of Dante's Inferno. the last Jodi Picoult book I read [[The Tenth Circle]] had a lot about Dante in it.. and the name was taken from it.. it has a little comic strip in between each chapter cos the mother teaches about Dante at a uni... made me quite interested... x

Lately I have been in the mood to put aside my heavier reading and recapture the moments I spent in my youth traveling through wardrobes, speaking to Whatsits on tilting planets, trying to catch vampire rabbits, playing outside with Pippi, Tommy and Annika, solving mysteries with the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew and crying over lost adventures that should have been but will never be in Terebithia.
To that end I have made it my mission to purchase all of the books I loved as a child so that I Auntie Yoda can read them to the lil ones in her family.
While I am in this mode I admit that I have read nothing heavier than the A Series of Unfortunate Events box set by Lemony Snicket but when this nostalgic melancholy passes I will go back to reading the Journals of Leonardo Di Vinci. Not the BS hype about secret societies and divine bloodlines which is, at best, historical fiction and, at worse, flat out lies meant to mislead the masses placed on the sacred face of paper and hocked by newsies on street corners but the actual compiled and unabridged thoughts, plans and dreams of the master himself. Astounding stuff really and absolutely awe inspiring.

Jodi Picoult does sound interesting, and I might pick something up by her, and do a review. Also, Ladykins, I was wanting to see Terebithia, but didn't know it had been a book as well. I love YA fiction, et cetera... It's almost all I read, but lately, I have been reading some old people books. An enemy once said I should read real literature... I took that more to heart than I did about the comment that I should dye my hair, lol.

If you do see the movie Bridge To Terebithia let me know how it is. I am very scared to see it because I don't want to ruin the imagery still in my head from being in 3rd grade and having my teacher read it to us at story time. Sometimes Hollywood can really ruin a good thing.
