Cat flung the door open to the house. The double doors swung back only slightly, they were used to this sort of treatment. Cat walked in and set down the bag of things she had bought with her new little companion only today. Ptah walked in after her, his head swinging back and forth looking at his new surroundings.

"Now I know this doesn't quite feel like home yet, but I'd like you to do your best to treat it as such." Turning Cat looked at Ptah trying to give the warmest smile she could.

Ptah in return smiled in a nervous way. He had never really been one for talking and though Cat was really nice and fun he still felt out of place with out all the other kids at G's to hide behind. Cat noted the nervousness and walked up to Ptah and knelt down to look at him at eye level.

"I guess this is kind of nerve racking, eh?" Cat said with a gentle look

". . . .Yeah . . . ." Ptah said staring down at his feet

Cat put a figure under his chin and looked into his eyes. "I'm your guardian now Ptah, and in time I'd like to be your friend. ... I now this was all a bit sudden, but I want to do my best to be your friend, and to protect you, is that cool with you?"

Ptah eyes grew big, this was all very odd to him, before G he had known no home and G had not been the best father figure. Staring into Cat's eyes though he felt a little safer then before, and like he was really being noticed for the first time.

"...yeah" He said with a small smile and hugged Cat.

Cat wrapped her arms around him, picked the child up and headed for the stairs.

"Come on, I'll show you your new room, you'll love it, it's huge."

((sorry it's a bit sappy guys I'll try to keep it down from now on))

(A journal entry from Ptah's journal)

My new mom and I went out and did a lot of stuff today. It was tons of fun. We went to one of mom's friend's houses. Her nickname is Bop, well mom calls her Chuubop but mom said I could call her Bop. We had cookies and mom and bop talked about the pots and stuff they make, and we left after a while.

Then we went to get mom some art supplies and me some too. We got markers and colored pencils. And we met another of mom's friends Dt, he's G's nephew. He was kinda tall. I liked his hair. Then we went to this weird shop. It had weird pets and kids in it. And we picked up this little girl named Ceridwen. I guess she's sorta my new sister. She's younger then I am a little and she's got shinny blond hair. She stayed really close to me and mom. I think I like her, I think she likes me too.

When we got home mom told me that Ceridwen was a vampire and that I might as know now. I thought that was really weird because vampires are supposed to be all scary and pale, and I have lighter skin then Ceridwen. Mom told me that vampires weren't scary and that they were just like normal people, only they did things a little different.

Like Ceridwen could drink blood if she wanted instead of eating with us and that she didn't like sunlight. I thought it was kinda cool. Mom says that Ceridwen would be living with us from now on. I think I like that idea. I'm going to draw everyone I met today soon, and put in here. But I have to go now, mom's got dinner ready and I want to see Ceridwen eat!

Sitting around the house Cat was thinking about the past month with Ceridwen and Ptah. It had been awkward at first. All the little things one had to deal with when one is living with others seemed to come in the way of the three really making a proper friendship. Instead they had all fallen into a kind of routine.

Cat would get up around 4:00 in the afternoon and start dinner, and make some business calls. Then Ptah would wake up around 4:30 and take a shower, the child apparently was starting to develop a slight phobia of being dirty, nothing life changing, but it obviously gave him discomfort when he wasn't able to take a shower in the morning or wash off observable dirt.

Then Ceridwen, who had grown a fair bit since 1st arriving, would come down to breakfast with Ptah. All being night owls as they were, this seemed rather natural to all of them. The thing that bothered Cat was not timing of this all, no. It was the fact that each split to do their own thing after eating. And would only talk to one other out of absolutely necessity or for their dinner at about 8 or 9 in the morning.

It was frustrating to Cat, I'm supposed to be taking care of them and beside the basics I have no idea what these little ones are doing.

Cat knew that Ptah enjoyed wondering the house and the rooms in the basement, opening doors and finding old machines to take a part and put back together. And for the most part Cat offered him things to examine, but that was the only thing the two really seemed to talk about.

Ceridwen on the other hand went off into the woods for long periods of time and gathered things. Plants, animals, friends, she seem quite adept at taking care of herself in the dark cool woods. Cat had gone with her once, and she had done her best to follow but she had lost Ceridwen in the woods and felt lucky to know which way was home. So both had decided that it was best if Cat stayed behind.

"I've had enough." Cat muttered to her self as the two walked in to the early evening meal.

"What was that mom?" Ptah said sitting down at the table and digging into beef stroganoff.

"We're going out today." Taking a long drink from her cup Cat took her half eaten food and put it with the rest she had made saving for leftovers.

Ceridwen and Ptah seemed a little disturbed at the news. "But mom I was going to go to the creek tonight." Ceridwen said.

"No we're going to a party, all of us, as a family. You two are old enough to go out and about this house on your own, your old enough to suck it up and have fun together, cool?"

Ceridwen and Ptah looked at each other. Both thought that arguing would most likely get them no where.

Ptah smiled "Sounds ok to me, I've never been to party, you Ceridwen?"

Ceridwen looked to Cat and answered "No, I presume. When are we going?"

Cat smiled at the question "Once we get you guys the right clothes and I explain the rules..."

Jingling filled Cat's ears as they walked away from the car. A smile crossed her face, and she was doubly pleased to see that, her two young companions also had genuine smiles. The jingling was from the small outfit worn by Ptah. He had protested about wearing the pants considering the cold night, but Cat explained that the party was going to be full of very active people and the room would be very hot very quickly. And Cat was overjoyed to see the pants made with intertwining black belts and straps adorning the young boy. Along with the blue tight shirt saying *"Happy Capitalists ... Because Sad Communists Buy Fewer Shirts" Ptah looked like the cutest thing she ever saw.

Though Ceridwen does come in a very close second.thought Cat looking over at Ceridwen. In all white bondage she seemed a light in the dark damp night as they walked up the stairs to the old post office. The front of the building looked cold but bright, with limestone facade. The old structure was lit up with the small lights of the bouncers frisking people as they entered. Cat emptied her bag and was walked through soon followed by Ceridwen and Ptah, neither of who seemed to enjoy the idea of entering a place that required this kind of security.

"Oh relax you two, now a days you get this kind of treatment at a base ball game." She said while paying for their tickets and getting stamped on the hand.

"Yes but that is because of terrorists." Whispered Ceridwen as she and Ptah were stamped and Cat was saying Hi to a friend a foot or two away.

"Yeah but this is pretty cool, isn"t it..." Ptah looked at the stamp just placed on his hand and with a mischievous smile looked over at Ceridwen, who returned the look nodding.

Ushering the two into the main room Cat smiled as their jaws dropped. She had to admit the room was packed tonight, but the crowed was happy and very mellow on the side lines. People were dancing; groups near the front were jumping in time with the beat and rubbing against one another. Closer to the back liquid dancers moved and flowed with the music. Lights and lasers flashed through the soft smoke, and off in the distance behind the plastic glass that once separated employs from customers before a new post office had replaced this one, Cat saw the tale tell flashing multi colored lights of the mini lightshows being held for those taking a break from dancing.

The song ended and blended into another as cat grabbed the little ones hands and moved them gently toward the other side of the glass away from the dancing.

Pulling from Cats hand gently Ceridwen looked up at her. "Mom I want to dance, may I..."

"In one moment sweetie, just let me cover a few things." Turning to Ptah she continued "Ok this is our safe zone, if one of you can't find me come here, not that I plan to really let you out of my sight." Cat glanced around the side lines and spotted her friend like she had hoped she might.

Being a regular, her best friend Starburst, had been Cat's 1st choice to help with the kids at their first rave. Pointing over to Starburst Cat continued. "Ok if you want to stop dancing and you plan to come back here tell me, then go hang out with Starburst. She's pregnant and so she won't be dancing much. Plus she's cool, only problem is she has no idea vampires are real. So no letting that slip, no matter how cool she would seem to take it, got me?"

The two nodded and Cat smiled and went over to Starburst and introduced the three.

"Oh yeah I've heard so much about you two, ahhh your so cute! Want a candy?" Said Star and held out her hand.

Ptah being the bolder of the two with people held out his hand, and was visibly surprised when a small bright plastic bracelet was placed on his wrist.

Cat laughed "Yeah you'll learn quickly around here, every thing has just about two meanings. So what do you two want to do first?"

"I want to see what those guys are doing." Said Ptah pointing at a dark man finishing a light show for a small girl laying on the ground.

"Brooklyn!" Cat yelled over to him.

Brooklyn looked over at Cat and nodded. Looking over at Star, Cat continued "Hey could you make sure Brooklyn shows Ptah some stuff? If he gives ya any crap? "Which he wont." Interrupted Star. "Which he wont." Cat continued smiling "But if he does remind him he owes me for last month Tuesday."

Ceridwen pulled lightly on Cat's pants. "May we dance now?" she asked with a longing on her face.

Cat smiled full-size and held onto her hand rushing out to the floor. "Come on!"

As the night went on Ptah and Ceridwen got the hang of the party. Going from dance floor to the side lines, talking, trading candy and generally having a good time together with Cat. By 2am the party was winding down and the three had had enough for the night. Biding good bye to Starburst and her boyfriend Joker; Cat, Ptah and Ceridwen headed back to the car.

"Hey mom.." started Ptah

"Yeah" replied Cat looking over at the happily sweat covered boy

"I'm glad you took us out tonight." Ptah finished smiling

"Yes, I feel the same way. This was really enjoyable; may we do it again soon?"

Grinning Cat helped the two get into her truck "Yeah sweetie, anytime you want."

Crash! Squeals ... then silence. It was the middle of the afternoon but the house was very dark. The windows were open but the curtains closed. And upon hearing the crash tired feet leaped from their bed in search of the source.

Fear ran through Cat. Were they hurt, are they in pain, what had happened? With her heart beating in her ears she ran to Ceridwen's room; the one next to hers in the upstairs hall, nothing. Next she flung herself around and out the door toward Ptah's room. Flinging the door open she saw the two huddled half under the sheets and half peaking out at her with scared faces.

Their eyes are so wide she though as she crossed the room calmly and went to their sides on the edge of Ptah's bed.

"What's all this about then?" said Cat touching Ptah's shoulder.

"I heard something in my room ... and I ran in here, and it followed me." Whispered Ceridwen looking embarrassed but still slightly frightened.

Cat looked a Ceridwen then at the slightly older Ptah. They both seemed scared and were waiting for her to make things right. Looking to her right she saw the source of the crash, a window had been broken and the curtain was slightly ajar.

"Well what happened to the window?" Cat said in the kindest most motherly voice she could muster.

Ptah's eyes grew wider and his cheeks grew very pink "I saw something move in the dark, so I threw my book at it."

Cat smiled, she was amazed at how cute they looked. Slipping off her robe to her silk semi long dress underneath, she walked to the window and placed all the glass into the robe and wrapped it up.

"Alright no coming over here until I've properly cleaned all the glass up, got me?"

Both nodded and Ceridwen piped up "Mom ... could you leave the curtain open? I can't sleep in the dark now..." she rubbed her eyes while trailing off.

Cat contemplated the situation for a moment, she was tired and going through the classic long explanation of the fact there was nothing but their fears out to get them in the dark seemed far too much effort. Not to mention the arguing of "But I saw this, but I heard that." So instead she opted for the much simpler answer and the one that, she thought, would teach them more in the long run.

Cat laughed and walked over to them "Ok guys I'm going to tell you a very valuable piece of advice my dad told me when I was a child. It's very important so listen carefully ok?" both nodded and Cat continued. "What's there in the dark, is there in the light, wither you can see it or not. Wouldn't it be nicer if you didn't see it coming?"

The look on their faces nearly knocked Cat over in laughter. She wanted to break so bad, and she now understood her father's supposedly cruel treatment when she had been scared in the dark as a child. If she didn't show them now that facing their fears and going on with life was the right choice they'd never learn.

Ptah and Ceridwen were visibly shaken. Ceridwen was clinging to her rather large t-shirt and Ptah's eyes had grown again, Cat was afraid they would pop.

Smiling Cat continued "Today you two can sleep in my room, but tomorrow you sleep in your own, with the lights off." Moving to the bed Cat hugged both of them "I'm not trying to be mean, but learning to face your fears is essential in life. You two are old enough to understand that, right?"

Ptah nodded and Ceridwen crawled out from under the sheets and clung to Cat. Picking her up Cat lead the way to her bedroom. Crawling into her bed she felt the two small bodies on either side of her, and held close.

"You two do understand, right?"

"Yes, it's alright ... you wouldn't let anything happen to us right?" murmured Cewridwen in the dark.

"No, I would give my life before I let anything hurt you." Holding them close she heard Ptah start to snore faintly.

Cat and Ceridwen laughed slightly and soon fell asleep as well.

Ptah was bored. Anyone could tell if they gave him half a glance. He was scuffing his feet on the ground, rubbing out a mark that had been left by someone else's shoe. He looked up and crossed the hallway in the mall. His guardian Cat, who he had come to think of as his parent since the months since she had brought him into her house, was talking to a rather tall attractive man.

He couldn't blame her but he was bored none the less without Ceridwen here to keep him company (she was at the house playing her new video game and had flat refused to go shopping with them).

Being so lost in thought he completely missed the sounds of someone approaching until a voice sprung up behind him.

"Hey!" Starbrust?s high pitched joyful voice washed over him and after being startled by the loud sound he smiled turned around, hugging her.

Looking over to Cat, Star nodded her head toward his distracted guardian. "Mmm she looks busy." After a sneaky smile, a wink she and a laugh she continued. "She told me she was taking you shopping for new cloths today ... wanna give her a thrill?"

*********************************************************************

Two hours later a frantic Cat was searching every inch of the mall, speaking to every shop owner she could each telling her "Oh he's just been here, such a cool kid."

Omg omg omg Cat kept thinking over and over again. I've lost him. I'm such a bad guardian, god I hope GD doesn't hear about this and take him back. Omg how is he buying all this stuff.... I don't have enough money if he goes wild with the credit card I gave him. Oh god I'm going to be forced to become a bum.

Then Cat caught a glance of her elusive young companion. At first Cat had mistaken him as someone else ... someone more "on the market" if you get my drift. Doing a double take Cat turned and stared as Starburst and Ptah walked down the mall coming toward her.

Neon was all she could think. Neon everywhere, on the bags in his hands, in the streaks in his hair, on the fake tattoos on his skin, on the skirt he was wearing and most of all on the n****e rings he had acquired, and all of it green.

"I don't ... I mean ... How did yo... I.... just ... ******** wow." Babbling seemed to be her major forte at the moment . . . . and staring her minor.

"So ... do you like it?" Asked Path blushing slightly at the scene he seemed to be causing.

Laughing Cat seemed to snap out of her revere, and with an explosive "YES!" and a huge hug the matter was settled of Ptah's new cloths.

The woods were quiet and refreshing. The night felt like a craving for something she couldn't place, elusive and desirable. She had been exploring these woods for about 7 days now, having told her mother she had joined a camp, with a fake permission slip you could do just about anything. And the $100.00 dollar check she had asked for along with the slip, to make everything seem more real, had gotten her a nice pair of hiking boots too. Ceridwen wasn't sure it was a right thing to do, but she was happy and so was everyone else, so what was the big deal?

Stepping out into a clearing her jaw dropped. She finally found out what Cat's property bumped up against, the big mansion Ptah and the other confused pretty boys she had met came from. It's large towers and cold stone surface loomed over her and she crawled out on the edge of the woods closer to the estate's main structure. The bushes and moat were a bother but nothing major to her.

Being so often in the woods had it's perks and Ceridwen had certainly been in the woods. When not at a rave Ceridwen was in the forest, mind you this was the longest period she had been in them strait; but by this point she new the ropes well. How to step on a dry twig without drawing attention, how to find food that wouldn't kill you, and how to run flat out without falling on your face or breaking a leg.

Creeping in through a window Ceridwen quietly explored the house a bit. It was huge even bigger seeming from the inside then it was from without, if that was possible. Rooms everywhere and it seemed for almost every room there was a little boy to occupy it. though that could just be my imagination ... Damn there's so many if I'm not cautious I'll be caught.

Just then a pair of strong hands griped her shoulders and she felt the most compelling response to scream she had ever had in her life. But she held her ground, she was a vampire after all... her kind didn't scream unless they were dieing. .... She was dead right? not yet said a nasty little voice in her head and she subsequently rubbed it out.

"And what, pray tell, do you think you are doing lurking around a residents not your own at this hour..." A cold firm voice crawled around from her back to fill her ears.

"I ... I ...." that's right you moron walk into his trap... "I was just sneaking in for a thrill sir, please don't kill me, I know Ptah, EEP!?".... by god that's it! she thought "... I know Ptah sir, he requested I come here to pick something up for him."

"At this time of night...?" Turning her around she finally saw the owner of the stern voice and strong hands, a man that seemed to just be ebbing into his "golden years". His eyes seemed so cold and calculating when they met hers and she felt inclined to return the favor.

"He said it was important sir."

"Well then he must have been the inquirer about the egg." Then the man grabbed her around the shoulders and lead her starkly to the kitchen and retrieved a small very oddly colored egg from a carton. "Well you'll be needing this then..." he forced the egg into her hands while giver her a cold glare.

"You"ll be leaving now." He said coolly and grabbed her once more and lead her to the door.

"I ... but... wait, you never told me your name." She babbled once they had reached the door and he was about to send her once more into the quiet cold night.

"I'm the Butler ... good night madam." And the man who seemed to own a face of placid stone shut the door in her face.

What an odd fellow .... Ceridwen thought while heading quietly down the long journey through the woods and back home.
PostPosted: Fri Jul 29, 2005 2:25 am

Cat was staring off into space, the day had been long and the night even longer. Markus had sent her a job, going to a Naga refuge and making a deal between a prominent vampire businessmen and the Naga?s of the area. It hadn?t gone well for either party, though it had been worse for her. Being between two very pissed supernatural creatures and trying to translate everything but insults to one another was not a good time. The night had come to it?s displeasing end by a Naga haling off and hitting her for not conveying the fact he thought the businessmen?s mother was an egg eater.

After calling Star, who had been watching over Ptah, and telling her that she?d most likely be later then she had thought and going to the hospital for a hair line fracture in her jaw, Cat had finally stumbled home and was now looking out her big bay window in her study wondering how much longer her work life was going to be like this.

Just then a click from the door startled her and Ptah popped his head into the room. "Mom ... your home. Hi." Walking over he joined her at the window.

"I was wondering ... you know those fake n****e rings I got at the store ... do you think I could get real ones?"

Cat just stared at him. She was too tired for this, the night had been to stressful and all she wanted to do was sit here alone. Ptah finally looked up to see her face, and became disgruntled by her sour look.

"But Mom! I''m old enough, if it''s the money you''re worried about I''ll just go clean someone''s yard until I have enough cash." Ptah crossed his arms and leaned back against the window and glared at her.

This was the last straw and she felt her shields of self control crumbling. In truth she hadn''t cared about him getting n****e rings. Hell she had given Ceridwen a hundred dollars for her bogus camping trip when she had know she was just going to go exploring in the woods for a few days. What did she care if he got n****e rings?

No it was the fact he wasn''t asking ... he was demanding. What had she done to deserve this sort of treatment? Was she really that much of a tyrant? Taking them out to parties, treating them like friends instead of children? it had been their idea to call her mother. And this is what she gets for it ... preteen angst.

"No.." she mutter softly as she widened her eyes and stared at the floor to hold back her tears.

Ptah''s eyes widened "What! ... But mom!?" he babbled aghast at his guardians blanket statement.

"No ... your no adult ... an adult would have understood that I have had a bad night .... and adult could have seen the blue mark a crossed my cheek and the blue plastic bracelet I''m wearing with my name on it. Your no adult ... and only adults get adult things..." standing Cat stagered to the door more weary then she thought was ever possible.

"Goodnight." And she closed the door.

Ptah sat in the silent room, he had never felt so bad in his life. With out Ceridwen around he had been bored and looking for things to do constantly, and because he had taken apart even thing in the house and seen every room he had become quite bored. The only thing he had to do when his mother had gone out was to talk to Star about changing his appearance. He thought she would have been glad to hear his new idea, the thought had never occurred to him that she might not have been in the mood to hear it.

Ptah had never really asked about Cat's job and she had never really talked about it. All he knew was that she got a call from Markus (who was a powerful vampire related to Ceridwen in some way) and that she would go out for a night and come back late in the morning. He had never really given it much thought, she had always had enough money for whatever they had wanted, so why care?

But now she had been hurt, and not only by the wound she had received but by his caulis disregard for her well being. Standing up he went down the hall and up the stairs then into her room, she was already laying on her bed. She hadn't even taken the time to take off her boots.

Walking over softly he began to unlace them as he talked. "You were right ... I guess I wasn't being an adult ... I didn't mean to ... well not care. I was just so excited. .... I guess what I'm trying to say is ... I'm sorry." He ended his poorly coordinated sentence by taking off the first of her unlace boots.

"Oh ...." crying Cat sat up and hugs Ptah tightly "I wasn't very adult like either, snapping at you like that .... it's just been .... a hard a** night." Pulling back Cat looked at her young friend and continued "When Ceridwen gets back we'll go out and get those piercings hell one for each of us, what do ya say?"

"Sounds great!" Ptah said hugging Cat and letting out a sigh of relief he hadn't known he was holding.

She was hungry for real home cooked food. The woods had been a nice little vacation but in her own way she missed her bed, hot food ... with pepper, and her family. But apparently that wasn't what Ptah had in mind.

"Ceridwen! Your home! Score! ... listen I've got to talk to you."

Sighing Ceridwen walked from the back door to a chair in the kitchen. She could hear the heavy beat and high pitched whine of Cat's trance music in the distance, apparently she was coming down from a bad day or she had had some fun activity planed.

"Look I was talking to mom yesterday and I found a few things out ... you got a couple minutes to ... Ah talk?" Ptah said bending his head down to look at her in the chair.

"I suppose so, I just got home and I wanted to eat but, that can wait." Ceridwen said looking pointedly at him.

"Oh no problem, thanks for giving me a minute." Walking over to the two wooden sliding doors that divided the kitchen from the living room, Ptah looked all around for Cat then closed the doors.

Sighing he made his way over to the refrigerator and found some leftovers from the night before, steak, potatoes and can pees, placing them in the microwave to heat he continued. "Ok I was talking to mom right? And I found something out ... Do you know what mom does for a living?"

She paused "No, and in truth I don't actually care. After all she provides well for us." Giving Ptah another pointed look Ceridwen walked over to her warmed food and started eating slowly.

"Well she came home the other day and she was hurt."

Ceridwen raised an eyebrow at Ptah. "And your only telling me this now ... why?"

"Because it wasn't bad but I was thinking ... Mom translates between species. Her job's only dangerous because she goes out and she doesn't have anyone to watch her back."

Ceridwen had finished her meal by now, having picked up to a vigorous pace, putting away her dishes she cut in "So your thinking we should hired someone to 'watch her back'?"

Ptah raised his eye brows looked down a little and blushed.

Ceridwen finally understood "You want us to protect her?" she finished at a slight high pitch.

"Well you know mom, she would never except help. I mean Markus probably already asked her if she wanted a body guard and she refused."

"And what makes you think she won't refuse our help as well, my charming brother."

Ptah raised an eye brow (which he felt he was doing to much lately), at the charming brother line, and replied "Who says we're going to tell her?"

Ceridwen thought about this for a while. There were many pros and cons to weigh.

"I'll make my decision later ... for now I have news." Ceridwen started to pull out the egg when a loud cry erupted from Ptah's lips.

"YOU'RE GOING TO CHOOSE LATER?!" Then he clapped his hands over his mouth and made the most comical glace Ceridwen and ever seen toward the direction of Cat's room. Luckily her music was to load to hear his little out cry.

"Yes later" Whipping out what she knew would shut him up, she placed the egg softly on the table. "Look I got it from the butler at GD's house."

The egg wobbled slightly on the even surface of the counter top, it's blue hues swirling in a almost hypnotizing way.

"Wooooow." Ptah just stared at it.

Ceridwen smiled. Ptah was really a bright kid, but he was easily distracted.

"What is it?" He asked in a sort of wonder.

"That's a very good question." Entering from the closed doors Cat walked into the room and gave Ceridwen a big hug. Ceridwen couldn't decide if she had wanted it, but until then, she realized, she hadn't felt like she was home.

((sorry if this is crap I just need to get back into posting again, feel free to pm me about how you feel about how this is moving.))

Cat opens a leather bond book awkwardly and puts pen to paper.

Hmmm so yeah ... I haven't used you in a long time huh? Not since I started living in this house?

Well let me update you, yeah?

Well I now have three beautiful adopted kids. Yes three. One of which I just got today. I''ll list them for you.

There's Ptah. He's a rather hansom kid, and a total flake sometimes, but he's truly intelligent and kind hearted. He's young and has yet to fall in love ... but I know he will, after all he's had enough people hit on him at all the raves he goes too. He's been going to quite a few on his own of late. Falling deep into the subculture and I couldn't be happier.

Then there's Ceridwen. She's pretty, quiet ,loves the woods and raves. I think being lost in all that color and movement makes her happy in both instances. She's quite passionate though you'd never be able to tell, she's hidden it all. I blame that on her parents death. Ah oh well she's happy, well adjusted and very smart; she'll be fine.

And there's our new family pet... Abidemi. Lol the little thing just got to the point it can get around the house without help and he's a handful. I found him sleeping in my underwear the other day ... gah. lol. He's blue and came in a weird egg that we just placed in a little toy bed and it hatched... odd thing and it grows quickly too. I hope it doesn't turn out mean. I mean after all how do you discipline a tiny winged, closed eye, child? And If I don't now, how am I going to later?.. Well I'll worry about that later.

The there's our newest addition, Ethan ... He's the main reason I started writing in this journal again. He's an odd child, and this is coming from an odd woman, who works as a translator for supernatural beings, and has two visually interesting adopted children.

Ethan's quiet and soothing without moving a muscle, and he's seemed to walk out of another time. I would have pegged him as a Shaman's son in the woods of the early America'ss conquest. He's said very little but every word seems to count ... and I think he can see the future.

I know you now think I'm crazy ... screw you I work for a vampire.

Anyway I was going to talk to Dt about seeing Ceridwen. After we went out to get some piercings, after she came back from a long stint in the woods, she'd left again, and I was a little worried that she might not be home that night. Anyway after finding him and his adopted son and getting that she was at the adoption center training, I settled down and decided to head home.

Coming down the stairs I saw Ethan, dressed in his buckskins holding a medical kit. I said hello and he told me that I was going to take him home and he was going to live with me from now on, and that he was happy, because he liked me. I was so amazed by the childs seeming strait forwardness I barely heard what he said next.

'Move down the stairs.'

Just then a kid with famling red hair skate-boarded down the stairs and smacked right into me and I fell forward. In that moment Ethan run before me and caught me, laying me down on the floor, slowly my movement and cushioning my fall through a kinda knowledge of movement; like zen.

I was so gratefull, then I looked at the kid next to me and I saw a big gash running up his leg. Ethan looked at me and said 'I don't know how to use this yet, you'll have to heal him.' I asked him how he knew to get the kit and how he knew to tell me to move and everything. He said 'I saw this in a dream, I know you'll know how to help him.'

And that's how I came to have a third child living at my home. He's odd in another way as well though, he's not once called me mother since he's gotten here. My other kids within the 1st few hours they latched onto me for fear of being marked as alone. Ethan seems to see me more as a equal ...I think I need to talk with that kid about what he knows ...

The house had been quiet once Ceridewn and Ptah had returned from their adventures. Cat had decided neither needed a mother at the time and that pushing about what had happened would end negatively.

Lucky for her one late night ice-cream session and cured her curiosity and both had mentioned what they had done while away from the house. Ceridwen her roaring battle tale, and Ptah his odd meetings and plans for a party at GD's.

But nothing of noted had happened for weeks since and the house it self seemed to have an air of stifling doldrums, and deafening silence. No one could stand it, even Ethan with his seemingly unbreakable demeanor appeared on edge.

Finally Cat could no longer take it. She found each resident within the house and crooked a finger at them leading all to the front room.

Pulling little Abidemi from his perch in the potted plant container he seemed to love to sleep in she addressed the entier group.
"Ok listen, I'm bored, you?re bored, we're all bloody bored. WE have the summer funk of not wanting to leave the house, but being bored within it." As if to emphasize the idea she was right she nodded and placed Abidemi on her head.
"So we have a why to fix this... FAMILY VACATION!" grinning she unfurled a large map from behind her.

Confused Ptah, Cerdiwen and Ethan looked at one another all confused and bound in the fact none of them could think of one thing to say.

"We're going somewhere! Now I think we should go for some site seeing I don't know about you guys but I seem to miss the out doors, so I'm thinking a natural wonder 1st might be the best idea. So Rainbow falls is my vote? Poking her finger at a star on the map making the sheet wobble back and forth a bit she continued. ?Anyone else have any ideas?"

Looking back and forth at the stunned faces Cat decided this had been the right idea to break the funk around the house after all.

Clapping her hands together she continued "Ok everyone go get changed so we can do a little hiking and be sure to pack sunscreen and swim cloths."

Turning Cat went to go find a suitable place to keep Abidemi in the car for the long drive, seeing as he loves to break things when no one's looking ... or pinch people?s asses ... the little bugger.

Once Cat had left the room Ptah looked over to his two adopted siblings. "I think she's nuts."

"I do concur; her random events are starting to become bothersome." Added Ceriedwen.

"You two are just disappointed she thought of something to make you feel better, when you couldn't yourselves." said Ethan quietly walking off to pack his things.

The two looked at one another and frowned at his point making abilities.

"I hate it when that kid knows things." commented Path sulking up the stairs to pack.

"Agreed" added Ceridwen.
