Iilya...god, there's a lot revolving around her. In fact, I know a chunk of her back story.
See, she loves Shirou almost like a brother. She even refers to him so, and you COULD make the link.
To explain...(Spoilers for Fate/Zero (prequel to F/SN))
Iilya's mother and Shirou's adoptive father had a child together. Well, sort of. They used Kiritsugu Emiya's sperm sample I think. =d
Either way, Kiritsugu is Iilya's biological father, and Shirou's adoptive father; therefore, they're sort of like brother and sister.
Whether she actually knows that or not, I don't know, but she certainly loves him like a big brother.
Interestingly though, Iilya is actually the same age as Shirou and Rin. =o
For some reason (can't remember why, I'll look into it) she doesn't seem to have aged as rapidly though.
Oh yeah, Iilya is important for a particular reason; (spoilers) she's the vessel for the holy grail. That's why Kotomine takes her in the last couple of episodes.
I really like Iilya myself. 3nodding

Ilya is popular. Also known as the "Loli" or "Lolita" To Nero (spoiler) I think your right about Ilya being like brother to Shirou which also explains why archer didnt try to kill Ilya. Well if she is about the same age....well then she doesn't freak me out as much.....although...maybe she still does. Once her servant is gone she doesn't seem so bad...she just freaked me out when she would act all innocent and then just kill someone and think nothing about it.
lol but she did make me laugh a lot in the anime. She's a pretty cute character. ^^

I think Ilya's personality and just the way she acts is funny. She's my second favorite character in FSN.

Spoiler: kind of incredible that she's so powerful of a magician to have summoned something like Herecles; and at such a young age too! Though from what i've heard, she's just as old as Rin and Emiya but doesn't age properly ( question ). Cant blame her though, she WAS the one chosen as the vessel to bring forth the Holy Grailimage!

Illya's actually 26. This makes her even older than Taiga by one year (Taiga's 25, BTW). Homunculi age slower than regularly-born humans, but I have a question. Are the markings on Illya's (adorable loli) body her command seals or her magic crest? In the anime and game, it said that those were her command seals, but they seem to function as a magic crest, as well. For example, they are only visible when she's casting a spell. Also, can someone post a picture of Illya with her command seals/magic crest activated? Preferably 1280x1024, or any other wallpaper dimensions.

That is why they not only activate with a command but a spell as well.
