I was also recently hacked (and NOT scammed, either!). I feel your pain. And it takes so bloody long to get the issues resolved and your account restored... 9 - 12 months I was told!
I never really understood how dreaful it all is, and what an emotional toll it can take.

We will get them back. Eventually. I am going to take the bull by the horns and actually write them a letter.
That is a terribly long time to wait, with no excuse.

Yes the focus isn't on dealing with such things. The mods are too busy worrying about the ToS and not dealing with hacked accounts. If you get scammed I don't have as much sympathy for you. Since they have only told you not to give your password to anyone ever. Also when you do a password make sure that it has at least six alpha-numeric chars in it. Preferably it should be more like 9-12 alpha-numeric chars. I get the feeling people who are getting hacked, either have small passwords or ones that are close to words. Thus just getting dictionary hack. Just brute force attacks at the database. There are many things wrong with protection for gaia.

And it really should be, we made Gaia what it is, we the people. I am hoping that will change. I feel the same way. Yes I agree. I met someone today wdo uses his POSTED BIRTHDATE as a password! AND he was "hacked" a few weeks ago. He had next to nothing and was new, and the person had the audacity to message him (the account wasn't worth stealing I suppose) and TOLD him she had used a "hacking program" to get in. *HUFFS*
Its nice to meet you, by the way, and sweet of you to answer. Its a shame how FoJ has gone down, including the Guild. I am hoping to be able to help with that, at least to some degree... everyone seems so ensconced in their own little hidaways anymore, and stay there...
I will wait to see how the planning where is going. Have you been in there yet? I do not remember the names of so many new people (new since I have been so neglectful myself, I mean).

I am composing an actual letter to the main office, which I will send snail mail AND fax! Ohyes... they have not heard the likes of "Mahayr-not-happy" HA!

I wish that, for one thing, they wouldn't give you your password right there when you answer account recovery questions. You could get hacked by anyone that knows enough about you; it would be better if they just mailed you.
