Prompt
I made my way along the sandy shores of the Poseideen Ocean, admiring the waves as the soft resonation of the waters soothed my mind. I felt something calling me to the waters, I dove into the clear blue depths. What a sight. Colorful fish surrounded me by the schools as bubbles cascaded all around me. I swam deeper and then something caught my ear. A sweet melody. I could make out a sillhouette in the darker depths and found a gleaming egg.

What do you do? What happens? Where's the singing coming from?
Use your imagination ;D

The melody ringing in my ears seemed to be yearning for me to stay. I realized that it must have been what I know as a Siren Call, the sweetest music to one's ear, but also the deadliest. I swam as quietly as possible.
By the time a was deep enough to get close enough to touch the egg, I was ready for some air again. I just couldn't leave the beautiful egg in the dark depths, so I snagged it and scrambled to the surface for some much-needed oxygen. In my attempt for air, my struggling and splashing, I attracted the attention of the singing creature. The singing stopped when I reached the surface, and the silence instantly pulled me into a state of fear. It finally connected to me that whatever I had taken, this creature was surely guarding it.
I floated there, unable to move, and I couldn't tell of it was because of my own fear to move, or some kind of spell. After a long silence, the creature jumped out of the water in front of me, then flew over me and landed in the water behind me. From what I saw in the split second, it was a dark, eel-like creature with small resemblances to a woman. It's eyes glowed with evil intent. The single moment I was taking everything in, my ankles were grabbed by slimly hands and I was pulled back into the depths.
My air was limited and I knew not to struggle. Instead, I held my body very still, and after a short time, the 'siren' let go off me and started poking me. I assume this is because she thought I had already died, who knows and I didnt care. My legs were free and so were my arms. I knew I couldnt punch or lick underwater, so I grabbed the seaweed-like hair with both my hand and pulled with all my might in different directions. Obviously the creature had never had it's hair pulled,so it flipped out, spit ink in the water in front of my face, and fled. I closed my eyes and swam to the surface, full of joy at my accomplishment: I had saved a creature that was going to be raised as evil, and it was mine!
I swam back to the beach and sprawled myself out on the sand. I smiled to myself as I pulled out the tiny egg from my seashell satchell and held it up to the sun. The swirling blues entertained my eyes almost as much as the siren's melody.
The egg felt as if it was getting a little too hot in the sun, so I grabbed my things off the sand and started my short walk home to my beach house. Once I was inside I made a shallow tank with two inches of water and some sand, and then put the egg in it. It has stayed there ever since that day, and I am waiting for it to hatch.

I looked down at the gleaming egg in awe. It was a beautiful. It contained every color possible in a rainbow and more. Just when you think you have all the colors figured out there were more that glistened on its surface. I didn’t have much time to think about it though as I was slowly running out of time for air. I swam closer to the egg and picked it up. As my fingers brushed against its surface the singing only seemed to get louder. It sounded like it was coming from the egg itself. I quickly turn around for air. I had been under for too long. I send powerful kicks to my legs and slowly inch closer to the surface.

I break the surface and take a large gulp of air. I pant heavily and look around to see that no one is around. I pull the egg to surface to hear that the song stopped. I placed it back into the water to hear the song start up again. I had figured out what the source was. It was the egg. Before I could cheer over me victory, I saw the most horrible thing….a shark. How it got there was beyond me. I must have been too caught up in the egg to notice that it was there in the first place. I stole a glance at the shore and judged the distance. It didn’t look like I could make it. I decided to take the risk. I place the egg in my pocket and swam like mad to shore. I looked be hind me to see the shark on my tail and pushed my self harder.

I some how managed to reach the shore with the shark reaching. I crawled as far away from the water as I could. I laid my self on the sand for a few minutes panting. After I could catch my breath I pulled the egg out of my pocket. For some reason it looked like it had lost its shine and almost seemed to shrivel up. Without another thought I hopped up and began to run to my house. I reached my door and almost had to force the door open in my mad dash to save the egg. I ran into the kitchen and turned the facet on. I placed the egg under it and when to find a suitable place to put it. Luckily for me I had a tiny aquarium that I was planning on using in the future. I quickly poured water into it and placed the egg inside. At first there was dead silence as I watched the egg soak in the water. Before I knew it, it began to sing. I figured that it must sing in happiness. My heart swelled as I thought of how happy it must be to stay with me. I made it my goal to supply this egg with as much love as I could possibly give it.

I swam closer, unable to believe my eyes. The egg was so beautiful that I couldn’t take my eyes off of it. It was about the size of an ostrich egg and it shone with the colors of the rainbow. But, even stranger, t had a face and it was singing one of the loveliest songs I’ve ever heard. It had no words, only a melody, but what a melody, indeed! The sound of it made me both peaceful and suddenly filled with joy. It was a tune of hope and happiness, its meaning evident even without lyrics.

The egg itself looked content as it sang and I stayed there, floating motionless as I listened. I felt dazed and dreamy, unable to think clearly. The song was all I heard and the egg was all I saw. After a while, I found it hard to breathe and I realized I was running out of air. I hadn’t noticed I was still in the ocean until it was too late. But, my limbs felt limp and my head still absentminded from the song. It was then that I saw a dark shadow, creeping slowly from a cave. It was a dreadful creature, ugly and deformed, its teeth bared. From the look in its eyes, I could tell what it meant to do with me.

It wanted to eat me. I had no doubt in it. But the song still had an effect on me, and I couldn’t help feeling a desire to relax. The creature came even closer now and I tried my best to stay alert. But, I was choking by then, and still immobilized by the song. I could only stare helplessly as it came closer and closer.

“Good work, my egg.” The creature said in a low, deep voice. I could see it clearly now and what I saw terrified me. The creature was fat and its skin was covered with green scales that protected it like a suit of armor. It moved slowly, half walking and half swimming as it came towards me. Its face was even worse. It was large with bumps on it, its wide mouth open, ready to eat. I still couldn’t move and I felt myself getting weaker and weaker. I had only the slightest bit of oxygen left in my lungs, but I couldn’t move. The egg continued to sing, though now it looked sadder as if it felt guilty of what it was doing.

Just when I had given up, the egg stopped singing. It looked miserable by then and simply stared at me, its eyes full of pity. The monster stopped, momentarily, to stare accusingly to the egg. But, by then, it was no use. I had no energy left to swim back up to shore. Still, I struggled and tried my best to escape. But, soon, my lungs giving out and my energy all spent, I blacked out.

When I awoke, I was in my own room. The memories of the ocean came flooding back to me, but it seemed unreal to me now. It must be just a dream, I thought. Reassured, I was about to get out of bed when I spotted something unusual on my dresser. An egg, the very egg that had nearly caused my death. My eyes widened as the realization hit me. It was real, all of it. I walked towards the egg, whose eyes were closed, sleeping.

Then, I noticed a small piece of paper near the sleeping egg. It was a short note, written on a piece of blue stationary

Please take care of the egg. He had been enslaved by the sea monster Usular and meant no harm to you. He is still young, but soon, he will grow up and I hope you will watch over him. Keep the egg warm and speak to it. It may not talk yet, but it does understand you.

Sincerely,
A friend

I stared at the egg, his beauty still so attractive to me. His eyes fluttered open, and upon seeing me, gave an apologetic look. I smiled gently and the look turned into a grin. And at that moment, I knew I had found a new friend.
