Feel free to bring in your Nightmare Kitsusagi, because this is all about them and their curse. <3 --------------- Zeph was a very bored teen to say the least. He was at the stage of his life where he was allowed to wander out on his own, did so frequently, and was becoming confident in doing just that. He had a better grasp over his abilities now, and felt more confident in general. He was also more graceful than he had been when he was a wobbly squeaky little hatchling. Lithe strong legs carried him through the heart of Kitsusagi Realm territory, ears high, tongue out, tasting the air for anything interesting, his aura-sensing ability high as he sensed the life energy in the grass, trees, everything around him within a 15ft radius.
It had been some time since he had last eaten, or had contact with another. He had been alone since his surrogate mother had told him the truth - that he was blind, and that his ancestors had made a terrible mistake and brought a curse upon him, her, and all the rest of their kind. He had wanted to be alone after this fact - he was furious. Why should HE be blamed for a crime he didn't actually commit? It absolutely smacked of unfairness. He growled as he continued on his path, and part of him felt like he wanted to get into a fight, or just to ram his horns into something. He was an edgey aggressive male teenager, and sometimes he could not work out why.
He shrugged off his thoughts and moved ahead further into the territory, seeking out others like him. He knew what their auras looked like now, they all had roughly the same familiar shape, even if they were different colours.
He had a request to ask of them. And a quest.Meanwhile, Hale'oki was quite unhappy. Her surrogate son had gone missing quite some time ago, and she needed to find him again, just to give him some reassurance. Had she made a mistake in telling him the truth about their kind?
No, she thought to herself finally after some thought. He was old enough to know, and he SHOULD know. It wasn't fair to deny him of the truth, even if it had made him lose a degree of his childlike innocence.
"Zephyrizon?" She called out, standing in the middle of a grassy meadow. Her ears were high, her tongue lashing out of her mouth to taste the breeze on the air. Nothing.
"Curse that bratty child..." She snarled. And continued on her own way, tongue continually tasting the air. She would find something eventually.

Adjo himself had actually wandered away from home and his mother, but he really didn't see it as a big problem since he was now a fully grown adult and even told he was pretty big for a Nitemare. He flicked his long tongue about, catching any scents that weren't normal and he did actually catch the scent of another. He stopped in the meadow and flicked his tongue in and out fast, catching the particles that made up the scent that was blown his way and it made it easier for him to figure out what it was.
It seemed to be....a female, since (to him) all females seemed to have a softness to their scent, and it seemed to be another Kitsu. Aha, so it was a Nitemare! He met very few Nitemares, the only ones he knew so far were the ones in his family, his mother, father and sister. He made his way to where the scent was coming from, quite curious over who it could be.

Hale'oki slowed down in her paces as she detected the scent of another Kitsusagi nearby. A low hiss escaped her maw as she first thought it was Zephyrizon, and she intended to scold him. But her tongue soon told her that although this was a male, it was a bigger one and she discovered that it was unfamiliar to her as she tasted the air further.
She came to a dead halt. Edgyness rose up from within her and she pinned her ears back, not knowing what to expect. She avoided the most of the other Nightmare Kitsusagi normally, for fear of them doing something mean to her. She had been thumped by their horns in the past, which was one of the reasons she had initially fleed from their homeland territory.
"Hello?" She finally gave up and grunted out. "Who is there? And are you an ally or an enemy?" She lowered her head slightly, ears pinned back, although they listened to the air attentively. If this male wanted to attack her, she would at least be ready for it.

Adjo halted as he heard a feminine voice address him and he had to admit, this one sounded different from his mother or sister. His ears flicked about and he scented the air again, smelling she was quite close, "I guess it would depend miss. I have never met any others like me, except for my family, and I was hoping to gain a new friend." he admitted.

Hale'oki seemed a bit more relaxed now. As she heard the word 'friend', a small grin made its way across her maw. Her tails raised slightly, the middle one wagging. Although neither of them could see it, she couldn't help but supress these once-communicative gestures.
"Oh, good. Good." She nodded, calmed again. "Generally I say the other Nightmare Kitsusagi are beings to be avoided as I have been thumped by their horns many a time. But if you are willing to make friends, I would be more than willing to, also. My name is Hale'oki, or Hale for short. I am curious to know what your name is."
"I am also curious to know where my charge is," She continued. "He is no relation of mine, but I have been raising him. His name is Zephyrizon. He is a hotheaded youth, I am afraid. I was out here and looking for him. I would ask you if you have seen him, but as you have just stated, you have never met any others like yourself." She sighed. "He is a Nightmare Kitsusagi also, so thus concludes the answer to that."
Her ears raised in curiousity as she finally made her way over to the other, tilting her head. "And what are you doing out on this fine day?"

Adjo sat himself down and his ears twitched as he listened to her speak and heard her get closer to him, "My name is Adjo, son of Kae'lic and Charna, and I am sorry to say I haven't scented any others around here since I arrived. And I am out because spring is here and I wanted to find new scents around here." he stated.

"Spring..." Hale was thoughtful for a few moments. "It's a pleasant season. That is, until the pollen gets into your snout. Although I am incapable of smelling, the pollen and dust still easily manages to get inside my nose and make me sneeze. It is most frustrating." She flexed the claws on her right paw as she made the statement.
"Adjo, huh?" She nodded. "Your family's names sound unfamiliar to me, but I am indeed pleased to meet you. It is good to meet another Nightmare Kitsusagi who isn't just interested in ramming their horns into my side, or getting underfoot and demanding to push me around. You can probably already guess that I am somewhat smaller than your average Nightmare Kitsusagi. A shame really, but..." She shrugged her shoulders. "What can you do."
A curious thought suddenly crossed her mind. "How good are you at tracking?"

Adjo shifted about so he could scratch at it itch that was right next to his horn, but he sat right up when she asked him how good he was at tracking, not really taking into account she called herself small, since size didn't seem to matter to him. "Well, I am the best tracker in my family, but I wouldn't say I am the best. Do you need help tracking down your charge?" he asked.

Hale nodded her head slowly.
"That would be rather helpul, indeed. Thank you for the offer. Though, he seems to be able to know where you are when you are close enough... it's most tiring. Even if you are masking your scent behind something very strong such as brambles, or peppermint plants... he can sniff you out and run." A tired sigh escaped her. "Are all male youths like that?"
Hale made a soft grunting sound and began to move onwards, her tails low, snout raised high in the air, her tongue flicking at it every few moments.
"He is nowhere I can tell," She grunted. "What a stupid mischevious brat."

Adjo started following after her, his own tongue flicking out to catch any new scents, but he did chuckle lightly, "I don't know about all male Nitemares, but I know I gave my own mother alot of trouble when I was young." he said, a scary type of amused smile going across is muzzle.

"Oh, really?" Hale was curious. "Now that just makes me wonder if such a thing is just a mechanism of all youths." She smirked at him. "Or just males in general. You mentioned having a sister... was she as mischevious as yourself?"
A small chuckle escaped her as she continued to pace through the meadow. She began to slow down as she tasted another scent on the air. This one was more familiar now... She made an aggitated low rumble and swayed her tail in annoyance.
"Up ahead... I can't tell how far away, but I can hear him. It's the brat."Zephyrizon idly scratched at his side, kicking at some stray fleas in his coat as he yawned. He'd found nobody yet, and that was an utter shame. He fluffed up the fur on his back in his irritation and idly nipped at some flies that buzzed around his head.
"Hmph..." He snorted, finally deciding to lie down on his side and roll in the grass to relieve some of his itching. The spring was here, but with it came more and more fleas. He could vaguely smell Hale'oki in the air now, but didn't seem terribly worried about that fact now.
Until he picked up the other scent, at least. "What is that...." He rolled onto his belly and kept low in the grass, awaiting to see what would happen. "I'm either in a lot of trouble... or in a lot of trouble..." He kept his hind legs at the ready, so he could bound up onto his feet and run if necessary.

"I am not quite sure. You see, my parents live with two different humans, so they couldn't always be together like they would have liked. My sister, Elysia, stayed with my father and I stayed with my mother, I am not sure how she was with dad." he said. He stopped when she stopped and he flicked his tongue, catching the new scent, and this one defienetely smelled male. But he stayed right where he was, his large ears perked up high to catch the sound of the beating heart of the young male.

Zeph's heart hammered away in his chest as he saw the new aura walk into his radius of 'sight'. That was indeed one of the Nightmare Kitsusagi kind he had been seeking out, but... it's aura was huge in comparison to his own. He'd never encountered another apart from his surrogate mother before, but from some of the stories she had told him in the past, they were typically not friendly creatures that stopped to chat. To add to the problem, the larger male was accompanied by Hale - all signs pointed to 'bad'.
He kept his ears flattened against his skull, his hinds wobbling in anticipation. "Please don't hurt me... don't hurt me, don't hurt me..." He mumbled all the while. He flattened his back spines as much as he could, but their ends fluttered in the slight breeze. If he could keep those still as well, he would have."Ugh, humans..." Hale crinkled the remains of the skin on her snout in distaste. "I have heard nothing but unpleasant things about them. And encountered more of the same. I do hope your human behaves for you - I avoid mine at all costs."
"It must be nice to know family, however," She continued. "I have always been alone, for as long as I can remember. And I suppose it is why I picked up the wayward hatchling here." She had to grin at that.
She sniffed the air once again and growled, her brows scowling in her anger. "Excuse me for one moment," She said to Adjo in a calm manner. Her next statement was anything BUT calm, however. She rowled out to her missing charge, snarling in his general direction. "Zephyr, get the hell over here right now! Whatever game you are playing, I suggest you cease it at this very moment. I have been looking for you for some time and I tire of your silly childish game!"

The flavors wafted down on the air, followed by the sound of a raised and angry voice. One of them seemed familiar to Khael, though she could not place it.
Though she no longer had to shuffle her feet across the ground as she walked, and incidentally tripped over herself and other objects less, her movements were still markedly slow. There was power there; she'd decided that since she was likely to lack in speed for the rest of her life she could make up for it in other ways. Still, there was no guarantee as to whether she would be forced to use it in the near future as she made her way toward the source of both flavor and voice.
She realized all at once that there was one that was closer than the others. Apparently she was approaching at more of an angle than she'd realized. This closest one smelled younger than the other two, and while the familiar scent was one of the more distant, she decided to approach this young male first.
Her posture, thoughts, and especially the slow, akward gait with which she tread more than indicated that she was not a threat; though if the other proved himself to be one that would quickly change.
She moved just within easy speaking distance, not wanting to alarm him or allow him to get too close if he should prove irritable or even violent. "Grrreetingsss young one. Isss that angrrry voicsse forrr you?"
He was of course free not to answer. She would leave him be if he disliked her contact. Though more diffucult for her than most, walking away wasn't all that difficult when it came down to it.

Adjo frowned lightly at the tone she took when she talked about humans and he wasn't sure he liked it all that much, "Not all humans are bad. My human has always treated my mother well, and she stayed up with her during those long nights when she was carrying the eggs me and Elysia were housed in. And she has always treated me well all this time." he said softly. He turned his head in the direction where the new, young scent was coming from, but his ears folded down when Hale spoke like that, but he decided to take a different sort of approach with it, "Zepyrizon, was it? Are you playing hide and seek with us? If you are, I wouldn't mind playing with you. Me and my best friends, Hanzi and Pika, we play it all the time back home. We just really need to see you, you had Hale very worried when you disappeared, anything could have happened to you and she wouldn't have known until it was too late." he said in a calm tone, something that was found often in Nitemares, but he wasn't your typical Nitemare, well, at least not from his parentage.
