Talk about a touchy subject! mrgreen

I will start the discussion with scripture (where everything should start):
Read what St. Matthew records in the 3rd chapter:

13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. 14 And John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?” 15 But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him.

Now, my question: What does Jesus mean "to fulfill all righteousness"?

Um...yes it's very cool!
Here we see a miracle taking place. Christ dips himself into the dirtiest river in the area and cleanses our sin. In this single act, Jesus "cleans" the baptism waters for us and takes on our sin when we are baptized. "He became sin" for our sakes, to take the wrath of God and grant gifts to men.
So, now when you are baptized, you are baptized into Christ's death and ressurection. Your baptism washes your sins away and gives you faith.

I know, but heres what I don't get, batism is importaint and most religons can not see that, I mean why is it so hard? God asked us to do it for the right reason and so we should, I mean see what he did for us, how can we tell him, no its not good, I'll wait later? *blinks* why?

plus why is Baptist called that when they don't even beleive it?
If you do thats great just please tell me why that is.....I mean in Acts 2:37-38 he talks about why you should and what it will do, the Lord's prayer isn't going to help, its not even mentioned in the bible, so why do it, its not going to save you.

This is a good point. How long should you wait for baptism? There is no age specified in scripture.
The next questiion is, is it a gift from God or is it a gift of intellect?
If it is a gift from God then everyone, including infants, should be baptised just as Peter did.
If it is a gift of intellect and WE decide, then what is the age? I have preschoolers confessing the creeds in my church. How are we to judge anothers faith? We can only do it by a confession. We are not able to tell if they mean it or not.

Actually Peter writes that "baptism now saves you" and there is only one baptism. Jesus was baptized once, not twice. Baptism is now a means of grace in which God works faith in you.

Yes there is. There are many views on this, and nobody will EVER come to agreement on a single answer.

why can't they come down to the one answer that the bible says? Isn't that why we're here on this earth is to follow Christ and his word? Poeple don't make since to me crying

Because not
everything in the bible is flat-out and literal, and there can be different interpretations of what it says. neutral neutral

this is also true and its very hard in revelation's what exactually are they talking about but in the book of acts, and i think mark or mattews ( in know its very helpful ^_^ sorry) it does explains well on what we should do with batpism

Yes. Christ our Lord says in the last chapter of Mark, "Whoever believes AND is baptised will be saved. But whoever does not believe will be condemned."
Scripture is very clear that baptism is a life giving water, rich in grace, and a washing of the new birth of the Holy Ghost. As Paul says in Titus chapter 3.
You know, the ridicule of baptism is a very new thing. the Church has always believed in the saving and faith giving power of baptism. What's changed is American christianity. the American idea is that we can do it all ourselves and we don't believe that water and the Word of God can do such great things.
So the true Church does agree. It is those outside the Church that can not make up their minds.

people think that christians change their ways just like the jw's the mormans the cathlich, but really we didn't chanage not the bible, what did change is the things aroung us yes, but we shouldn't change the word of our lord just because things that are being reconider, I know we live in a country that thinks that Football is the real religon to believe, that right there should tell you how messed up people could be brain washed and its not even thier fault.
