well there's no rule that says you HAVE to come out. I'd wait a while to tell them. wait untul YOU are ready, and they're ready, and you're ready for them to know. After all, unless you're already past your teens, you don't know how many changes will affect you. In my case, I thought I was bi for about 3 years. luckily, I didn't tell anybody, and I've recently figured out that I'm straight.
main idea: dont' come out until you're ready for everybody to see you as a gay person (real homophobes don't care if you're bi, we're all in the same category to them)

Like wordman said, you aren't required to tell your parents, or anyone else, that you're bisexual. I haven't told my parents yet (although I think they might have an idea...) and I've known about my bisexuality for four years. It's just all about being comfortable with who you are, and being comfortable with others knowing who you are. You never have to tell them if you don't want to... but only tell them if you are ready. Coming out to your parents is a big deal.

Ms. Garcia_91 well hun i havent told my mom im bi either but when u r ready to tell them go ahead ur family is always going to love u no matter wut. she does have a point, i mean i was unsure for 2 years, and hid it for four and been openly bi for 4 mounths, and my parents don't know either. it's usually because you feel your parents would abandon you, but they won't, because they love you, it would probly be wierd around them, but only for a little bit, i think sweatdrop

Everyone seems to forgot that once your parents know, the family knows. Tbh, they're gunna be shocked and have to tell someone. (When I told my sister, she told her boyfriend.) and I'm guessing parents arent gonig to be much different Untill you think you can handle the, seemingly, whole world knowing, then don't tell your parents.
-My personal view.-

hmmm i don't know if it's to late for the advice but my personal experience was that i held the fact i was bi from my parents for all of my high school years and only soon after when i moved out was i able to tell them.... though my parents are understanding, they said what happens behind closed doors is none of their concern. and they accept me for me and my mom asked if i wanted her to ask her gay friend if he could find me a bf so yeah lol.

I've got the same kind of problem only my parents are homophobes and told methat if I was ever anything other than straight, they'd disown me. It really kinda sucks but I'll tell them sooner or later I think.

The only person that doesn't know is my mom. I'm still too afraid to tell her, but i think she knows... I've been trying to get over it for a long time... It's been 6 yrs since I've realized it myself. It was the summer of 2001. That was my revolution for this Century. But some people can be oddly comforting and accepting. biggrin
The story of when I told my dad:
My dad and the rest of the family knows and embraces me. whee I was afraid at first because the whole family is Roman Catholic stare but it went ok. He's always been uptight about my sex life, he's liked very few of my girl friends. He also had a long list of anti-gay jokes and slurs stressed Every one of them was a stab after i learned who i was. And he told me he didn't like gays.
I dropped it casually like after my first bf, to my dad and he was like "Wait, you're bi?" that scared the !@#$ out of me. redface I was like "yeah..." and he shrugged his holders and was like "Good for you, you get to hit on the whole world's population." eek
So i guess what I'm getting to is, you'll never know how they react until you try. I was sure he would at the least be angry and yell at me for not being "natural" stare I had a whole argument in my head.
My argument would have filled the whole car ride from Cincinnati (where i was) to Chicago (where i live) exclaim I was sure i could convince him... But it was an oddly quiet car ride, because he was so accepting... It was a comfortable silence sweatdrop
Only broken every once in a while to talk to him about why i was afraid and he told me he never wanted to prevent me from being who i am. Even though he doesn't like general population gay men, I am his son and he will always love me. xd And since all that has accured he's hung out with alot of gay guys and he's been more accepting over all. 3nodding
P.S. I hope that story is at least a little helpful to someone. sweatdrop

I would do what you think is right for you in your situation. You are the only one who knows your parents so only you can guess how they will react. When I told my mom I was bi she almost threw me out of the house untill I lied and told her I was just confused. Then she wanted to send me to therapy. That was a situation where I was probably better off just not telling her in the first place.
