Juu, a scion from the Swamplands, was home sick. There was no other way to put it, no other real need to fluff it up with cuddly words. He was tired, sore, a bit hungry, and dying to get home. He still loathed the whole idea of a naming quest, but he did not want to disappoint his mother and come back with a name that wasn't really within him. So he kept on going, though he didn't have a clue as to where he should turn next.
He had taken some time to stay in the part of Africa known as the Southlands. Though they weren't as south as some other lands, he had a guess that it was because they were south of the Pridelands. And everyone knew of the Pridelands, definately! Juu learned quite quickly about them himself once he had left home. He thought about maybe going there, but it would probably just be overpopulated, and Juu wasn't the best social prince.
"Geez, so tired of all this!" he mentioned to the tree that was next to him. He was used to the feeling of spirits in the swamps, but out here everything seemed dead. He flopped next to the tree in the shade, the morning light still soft and cool. The day would grow warming as the sun passed overhead, but for now it was tolerable.

*Hop. Shuffle. Hop. Shuffle. Tu made her way through the underbrush, doing a sort of awkward three legged dance. She growled raggedly in irritation- her front left paw was cramping up from prolonged travel. The clumsy hobble she was being forced to use was causing her to pant, despite coolness of the early morning air.* Bad leg! Tu hates you. *The brown lioness scowled at her own paw, lurching to a stop and surveying her surroundings. Large ears caught the faint sound of someone grumbling not far away... Squinting westward, Tu could make out a large lump lying beneath the shade of a tree. She whined softly- if whatever it was caught her scent and decided to chase her, she would not be able to run away.*

Juu's own ears caught the sounds of something far off. He wondered, what was stirring on this brisk morning? He wasn't sure if he really wanted to get up, but genuine curiosity urged him to get his lazy butt up and go look.
The lion pulled himself onto his feet, and gave himself a good shake. Only recently had his mane start to grow out, and it was lush with it's white colour. Perhaps a bit odd for one his age, but he had as much control over that as he did the sun.
His brown ears poked through the mane as he looked over, noticing another lump of brown. It was obviously not a rock, for the shape was much too thin. Another creature? Must be, there was no other reason as to why he heard the noise.
"Hello?" he let out, loud enough to hopefully be heard, but it did sound a little too loud to the lion. Whoops. He bowed his head down after that, as if to hide from embarassment. But it stick targeted him, and he flushed a bit. He hated being too loud, but the damn air seemed to amplify his voice rather then muffle it.

*Tu tensed when she saw the shape start to move, clear blue eyes wide with uncertainty. It had clearly noticed her and it was coming nearer. Should she try to run? Her acheing paw reminded her sharply that this was not an option. Unable to think of anything else, the brown lioness lowered her body into as submissive of a position as she could muster.
His voice- when it came- startled her into hopping backwards a step. So loud! And male. But 'hello' was not usually a threat... and now he was lowering his head...? Like he felt bad for yelling? Tu found it a strange and oddly cublike thing for a large male to do. The thought quelled her fears slightly....*
Not wanting to bite Tu? Yes?
*She asked, tilting her head and pricking her ears up. The color of the stranger's pelt was intriuging her.... It was the same earthy brown as her own...*

Juu only picked up the term 'bite', and it confused him. What was the other thinking? It sounded light, perhaps feminine? Only a bit more of inspection would do to quiet his curiosity. He took a few more steps forward, enough that he could talk at a lower tone and not have as much fears of not being heard.
"Bite? I don't bite..." he said, still unsure as to what he had thought she said. He felt a little unsettled by her action, though the thought came to him; his full mane. That signified an adult male, and perhaps hostility. Which Juu was not capable of, unless it was anger at his current quest. "I only said hello. I ah..." he paused before continuing, his olive-coloured eyes studying her body language a bit more. "I'm not mean, I mean, uhh...sorry." Well, he screwed that up, again. Good going, genious.

*Tu listened while the male talked, his words coming in a little rush at the end. He answered that he would not bite...and his extremely embarassed body language seemed to confirm it... But why was he acting so ashamed? Tu crept a little closer, losing some of her submissive posture in favor of curiosity. Up close, his fur was even more stunning....she had never seen another of her kind so close in coloring to herself! The idea that they had something in common made her feel less frightened.*
No biting. Good. Why look sad?
*She inquired, 'sad' being the closest word she knew for embarassment.*
Tu make sad?

Juu curiously eyed her inching closer to him. Well, at least he didn't completely scare her off. He grew a bit ridged, though, just in case she did decide to run away. He didn't want to encourage it. Besides, she could be something to distract him from his stupid quest, anyway. If she wasn't there, he might of slammed his head into that stupid tree!
"Sad?" He questioned. "No, not sad. Is Tu your name?" He struggled to keep up with her speech, though he was quite proud of it anyway. "I just want to go home. Stupid quest." He grumbled a bit, before the name really sunk it. Oh, OH! Offer your own name, stupid! He mentally kicked himself before he offered a small, quick bow. "I'm Juu. Nice to uh...meet you."

*Tu knew she wasn't using the right word to express what she meant- it was so frustrating to have such a clumsy tongue in a world full of lions who could run lingual circles around her. She nodded when he correctly guessed that 'Tu' referred to herself.
Home... He wanted to go home? Tu frowned slightly, glancing out at the horizon. His home must be a nice place if he wanted to go back there... Where she came from was a totally different story.*
Juu...
*She repeated- it was easy, very similar to her own name. Yet another thing they inexpilcably had in common.*
Juu and Tu.
*The lioness giggled softly, liking the sound of the rhyme.*
What is...'quest'?
*Tu had never heard that word before.*

The lion's brown ear flicked in the mass of his white mane, curiously watching the female. He could tell that there were more thoughts then words in that head of her's, though he didn't know why, or exactly what those thoughts were.
He did know what his quest was, though. So he'd share, and quite happily, for it was something he could talk about. Even if he hated the quest, he knew how important it was.
"I have to find my true name," he said proudly. "Juu is the name my mother gave me, but there's a name that's inside me." He drooped a bit when he continued. "But...I can't find it yet."

Name inside....
*It was a strange concept to Tu, who's name had always been, and would always be, the same. It was just as well- having more than one would have just confused her. But this lion was searching for his...*
Must know name. Name is self.
*She said slowly, nodding at him with a serious expression on her face. Juu had something very important to find... It made a spot inside of her ache...for it reminded her of how her own searching had been fruitless. All this time she had been wandering, seeking a place wheres she belonged... Sometimes it seemed as though it did not exist.*
Maybe....Tu help?

Juu was a bit surprised that she wanted to help. He didn't even know what he was doing, but was offered help? He wasn't stupid enough to turn it down but he also wasn't sure with what she could help with. His olive eyes wandered a bit as he thought about it, though he never actually had a negative thought cross his mind about it.
"Well, if you want to..." he started, unsure of himself. Here he was, this big adult male, and sometime he still felt like a little cub. "But I don't know what I'm doing to find my name." A frown developed on his face, a bit in frustration. Well, it wouldn't do good to vent about it, though. "I've looked everyone, 'cause I thought I could just. Well. FIND it but...no luck." He had childish thoughts about how to find it. He just assumed it would be lying somewhere, or someone would tell it to him. But no, he hadn't really gotten anywhere in the few moons it had been since he left. But if this Tu would help him, then that might work!

*The brown lioness listened thoughtfully, her tail flicking from side to side on occasion. It sounded like a difficult sort of quest to undertake... but the poor lion looked so frustrated and lonely. Tu wanted to help and she found she was already more at ease around Juu than other males. Normally they made her nervous....
...the ghost biter... with teeth so long and muscles so large... He was male...
Tu shook her head hard, willing the bad thoughts away. That way the madness lay. She tried hard to refocus her mind on the problem at hand.*
Tu knows what we do first.
*She said, nodding decisively. Tu calmly sank to her haunches and settled herself down among the sparse grass. Blue eyes slid closed in an expression of relief.*
Rest. Tu's paw is killing her.

Juu's ears flicked forward when she mentioned her plea to rest. Well, what else was he to do? The lion slowly brought himself down on his rear, giving a sigh as he settled down. He wasn't tired, but obviously Tu was. Something to do with her paw. Strange, he didn't notice anything wrong before, maybe it was just...tingly?
"Will it be alright after a rest?" He didn't want to seem impatient, but pushing an injury wouldn't work well for anything, and especially if Tu seemed like she wanted to tag along for a little while.
His olive eyes couldn't help but wandered downwards to eye her limbs noticing that one had scars all across it. He averted his eyes, not wanting to seem rude, his mind mentally waiting for a diciplinary snip from his mother. She brought him up well, as best she could, but his heart still had not grown into the body he had now. He blinked a few times to let the thought pass before expectantly waiting for an answer from Tu.

*Tu opened her eyes, following his gaze down to her wounded paw. It really was an ugly mess, criss-crossed with jagged pink scars across the front and back. She was used to seeing it- as the limb had been that way ever since she could remember.
...ever since she was tiny and helpless... flattened against the wall of the den in the shadow of the one who bites...
Tu ground her teeth, shoving the paw up underneath her chest and out of sight.*
Yes. Not be long.
*She finally replied, her ears lowering in embarassment. She knew she wasn't very strong... Would he leave her behind?*

Juu's ears flicked forward at the bit of a story that was coming from Tu's lips, his eyes wandering towards her mangled paw. It was something that he couldn't help, since it was, for a short time, the current subject of conversation, but he knew it was rude. He flinched when she hid it, knowing that he was doing something quite wrong.
He shifted his weight on his hind legs for a moment, unsure as what to say, but also not wanting to keep quiet. Both seemed so rude, but ugh! He wished he had learned more skills from his mother before he left.
"My little brother's been kinda small his whole life..." he mentioned, hoping to switch the subject a bit. "Not really safe in a swamp, either."
Stupid! That wasn't much of a good subject, but he didn't really know of anything else. Just to find his name and go home, really. But...there were a lot of fun things out here, too. Like meeting other lions with totally different lives. His eyes shifted back to Tu, wondering what stories she would have to tell. Maybe one day he'd get to hear them. If he deserved to, anyway.
