JABBERWOCKY
- by Lewis Carroll -

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

Name Abigail O'Brien

Information on their previous life Abigail was formerly the Jabberwock, the fearsome beast of the Tulgey Wood made famous by a gibberish poem.

The whole reputation was largely a misunderstanding. The Bandersnatch was the monster who had a taste for humans and indulged on a frequent basis, while the Jabberwock preferred to keep a slimmer figure and subsisted mainly on cute little forest creatures. When outraged, humans have a hard time distinguishing one man-eater from another and strike down whichever one they can get near.

The Jabberwock was in fact on its way to the wabe to catch a few toves and raths for lunch when the hapless hero of the poem came upon it. He was a hoodlum in the village two miles away, always trying to shoot down birds with his slingshot. When he finally got his hands on a sword to defend himself with, his parents started sending him on errands to the forest to pick berries and mushrooms. This was not particularly masculine, so the boy looked for something else to do instead some days. There were all those stories of horrible monsters, after all. Maybe if he killed one, people would start taking him seriously, and he could be off to join the King's Army. The Jabberwock's detour past the Tumtum Tree was perfect timing - a couple hacks of the boy's sword and the absentminded Jabberwock was beheaded before it knew what sliced it. If only it was in better shape... if it hadn't been killed immediately, it would have been thoroughly embarrassed that a human heard it burbling on a brisk walk.
Personality from baby to adult. Abigail starts out life as a baby who will. Not. Shut. Up. At all hours of the day and night she'll make noise, whether crying or nonsense babbling. She basks in attention and needs the company of others. Teething will give way to biting, which she will think is merely a way of exploring her surroundings... with her mouth. She seems to be a very physical baby, which leaves the mental aspects relatively untapped as she grows. Once she learns to talk, it's even more difficult to get her to be quiet. She'll voice her thoughts aloud and ask questions, overly-inquisitive. There isn't a whole lot of deep thought behind them, though. Abigail is perfectly happy to live like this, though, her mouth running a mile a minute (except when the jaw muscles freeze up on her). As she grows, though, beauty becomes something she grows obsessed with. She is by no means beautiful on the outside, being the reincarnation of a monster. Inner beauty she believes is nothing more than a lie to make one feel better. This self-consciousness carries all the way into adulthood, as do any grudges she has against those she sees as naturally beautiful.
General likes and dislikes Abigail has a natural affinity for forests and large, easily-mispronounced words. She loves being the center of attention. She dislikes sharp objects, especially knives, and absolutely hates it when people touch her neck.
Hobbies Mostly talking and asking questions. She also likes dressing up, even if the occasion does not require it.
One or two specific features on the child. Stitches around her neck and glowing orange-yellow eyes. (( Beyond that, go wild. I am up for whatever XD ))

Abilities (Based on given creature)

Decapitate and Dismember
Abigail's head can function even if it is entirely separated from her body. The body, while immobilized by the action, does not die from it. Likewise, limbs can be successfully reattached with magic even if cut off. Unlike the head, though, they can't move when separated from the body.
PRO: Gives Abigail one less horrible way to die. Plus, removal of the head specifically is relatively painless given it's already happened once before.
CON: Getting dismembered in the first place really, really hurts. Also, the reattachment thing doesn't work for disembowelment or any other messy injury. Those are just going to keep on bleeding without proper medical attention.

Jaws That Bite/Claws That Catch
Abigail is capable of an unusually strong grip with her mouth or her claws. This doesn't mean her claws or teeth can pierce anything, just that what they can hold onto, they will hold onto.
PRO: Probably good in a fight.
CON: Because her jaws work similar to a crocodile's, she has more power shutting her mouth than getting it open, and overexertion of her jaws or fingers leads to stiffness. Getting the teeth or claws out of whatever they've caught onto is made extremely difficult, as it takes hours or even a whole day for the muscles to work again.

Eyes of Flame
Abigail's eyes glow in the dark.
PRO: Eventually she can up the brightness like a camera flash and blind people for five seconds. Also, works like nightvision!
CON: It's not something she can turn off. Unless she walks around with her eyes shut, her location is always a bit of a dead giveaway when it's dark.

Whiffling
Abigail is capable of moving in total silence for short periods of time.
PRO: Good for sneaking up on oblivious people or escaping without notice.
CON: No increase to speed, and the purpose is defeated if someone sees her.

GUARDIANS

Jacob O'Brien

Jacob O'Brien was not actually born Jacob O'Brien, but that is another story for another time. He is a bitter man with little sympathy for the plights of others. What he lacks in a youthful figure and grace he makes up for in a sharp mind and tongue. Time has not been kind to him, leaving him with a constantly vacant look and dark circles under his eyes that never go away. He is extremely superstitious.

Jacob looks mostly human, and unremarkable at that. Well, except for his scaly red left arm, a pair of sawed-down horns, and a long red snake's tail. Oh, and a slitted yellow left eye with scars across the eyelids. His feet are disturbingly hand-like as well, having opposable thumbs. But other than those features, he's a five-foot-eleven middle-aged man with brown hair and a brown eye. He's growing a beard and tends to cover up when he dresses, hiding a myriad of surgical scars on all parts of his body.

While he wants nothing more than to just die, the man is too much of a coward to kill himself. He smokes cigars and drinks heavily instead, investing in the long-term option.

Sylvia O'Brien

Sylvia is Jacob's wife. A surprisingly upbeat woman, she dresses in clothing that leads many to believe she is colorblind. Unlike her husband, she has always wanted a child, though for the two of them it is physically impossible. Her philosophy is that everything happens for a reason. She is five years younger than her husband, and if one looks closely it shows.

Sylvia has green eyes and dark brown, almost black hair. Petite, she is only about five-foot-five. Unlike her husband, she is slim and healthy, and 100% human too. Sylvia wears makeup and jewelry quite often, having amassed plenty of tacky jewelry from flea markets.

While she will smoke the occasional cigarette, she does not indulge to the extent Jacob does. She enjoys cooking as a past-time.
