Welcome to my quest thread, first off I'd like to thank Astra for being an evil little muse to help me mold some of the ideas I had into shap for this quest. domokun And a really HUGE thank-you to Enoh Love for allowing me to make Umrae as Drow as I wanted! heart whee As for the quest it's self? Why it's a Drider of course! What is a Drider you may ask? A Drider is a cross between a Drow, and a Spider. This is not something that just happens because it does. It's a painful transformation that only the highest of Lolth's priestess' can preform. Over three days and each day during an 8 hour period a Drow undergoes a painful transformation, the lower half of the human like Drow body is lowly bloated and transformed in to that of an over sized spider. Standing well over 6 feet tall these behemoths are a nasty thing to piss off. Most of them once created are shunned from their city and sent in to the Underdark to survive. This is the quest, and the story of a Priestess of a lesser house who took things a bit to far, angered the wrong Matron mother, and found her self cursed to wander the Underdark seeking revenge in her new Drider form. A form that would will it's revenge with it's dieing wish. (Guardian info slowly being written up as you read this... >>)

Oh how the mighty have fallen...
It's a given fact, Drow are power hungry and Umrae'stra was no exception. She was one of the lesser known daughter of a house known as Melarn, some said she was not of the same blood, but rather adopted into the House after her own was destroyed. Others say she was a runaway from another House in Menzoberranzan. But like any Priestess of drow kind she aspired for power. Power her Matron mother would alway decline her.
To gain such forbidden power Umrae'stra sought out a way to deal a crippling blow to the head House Nasadra. Of course Ched Nasda like any Drow city it's always best to do thing's with out drawing attention to ones own house. With multiple failed attempts to kill even one of the Nasadra family daughters it was realized that Lolth was possibly starting to disfavor House Melarn and the adopted daughter Umrae'stra was to blame.
The rulling councile agreed, the only way to solve this was to preform an act that would bring shame on that of any Drow. Umrae'stra was sentenced to be turned in to a Drider and forced out of Ched Nasda to wander the Underdark. Eagerly the Matron mother of House Melarn gave up the adopted daughter even aiding in the ritual her self.
Twelve hours of agony latter Umrae'stra was cut off from almost all she had ever had. While she still remembered most of the basic Drow abilities and clerical spells she found the lack of Lolth's blessing to block all of such powers. Alone and left to the Underdark ways she would wander and slowly loose touch to her self, and to the powers she once held.
After years of wandering (these years leading up to the events that take place in the War Of The Spider Queen books to give any one interested in a general idea of the Drow world at the time) Umrae'stra would finally find a place among a band of rogue males and other Drider bent on destroying the hierarchy of Menzoberranzan and all Drow society. Of course Umrae'stra even in a slightly maddened state could not forget the pain she felt at being shunned from her former life and thrust aside like an unwanted male child. Her thoughts of glory and revenge were cut short however. For during an attack against the Houses of Menzoberranzan she would find her self stuck between some of the best ranking masters of sorcere and the ruthless skills of the Bregan D'aerthe, a place not even a Drider could escape from...
As soon as the fight started it was already won, a strange figure seemed to apear as if from nowhere, he stepped from a hole that opened from the side of a burning building leaping out and pulling the hole shut behind him and stuffing it into his oddly decorated hat which held a large diatryma feather. For Umrae it was far to familure, he recalled the mans offering when she first left the city.
"Come with us priestess, it is rare such an offer! it can be given only to the most worthy! Rarely does the Bregan D'aerthe let a full fledge priestess among their folds!"
Oh how she wished she had chosen that path as he flung dagger after dagger in to her large quivering spider form. All the while she cracked her whip against fools who dared to close while kicking others away. Cuts and burns built up all around her waist as attack after attack came on, and still she could remember his words.
"The first House wished your family all dead..." His voice was no longer excited it was cold, and deadly serious. "...if you don't join us here and now, we can't guarente you will live Umrae'Stra. You will die someday just like your sisters, your mother, and all the males who stood before Bregan D'aerthe this day." She turned away from him then and there pulling her piwafwi tight around her leaving at once.
All the while that same figure continued his assualt, Umrae lunched forward kicking males aside with out a bother to the spears and swords spilling her dark crimsion fluids all about. She had to kill him, if only to prove he could not kill her.
And what a foolish mistake it would be. The strange male was gone again and back on Umrae's back, suddenly his two daggers, one in each hand where swords with a flick of the wrist, with out even hesitateing he pressed both swords in to the soft fleshy spot between Drow skin and spider hardened flesh punching out the other side. Even as he started to pull the blades apart and wrap them around her stomach she could only do one thing. She cursed them, all of them, she would get her revenge!
And as her still Drow half collapsed to the dirt, severed and dieing from its spider half, a contract was signed and another wand would soon be born. It would never see the light of the day till a Deep Dwarf trading company would find it abandoned in the streets and sell it to the mortal world above...

The Ghost
Name: Umrae'Stra (Meaning Blessed Spider) Hair: Ghost white and shoulder long Skin: Ash gray
Wand: A thin black rod with a webbing like matter wraped around it, at the top two hands placed together like in a prayer with 4 spider legges reaching up around it.
Ghost: A light violet fog with a humanoid form however waist down is a bloated fog like cloud.
Child: At this point we finally see Umrae'stra, her hair is short at the moment. The odd growth covered by the fog in her ghost from is finally revealed to be a large cocoon massed webbing in place of where her legs would be. Other wise she looks like a healthy child of normal size, minus a few odd scars starting from inside the webbing and poking out along her waist and stomach. Clothing wise her upper body is draped in a dark purple robe that she was first presented in before she was cursed.
Toddler: At this point the cocoon finally breaks away revealing the lower Drider body. It's a dark black with a few flecks of dark red markings along the back as if mimicking that of some Underdark Spider. At this point it is also more obvious the way the scars work their way around her waist, some looking like a cut from her waist down in to the spidery lower mass, while the majority look like they tried to come across her waist hinting at her death involving being completely severed from her lower half. Her purple robes are now getting a bit small for her and as such come up high enough to reveal all the scars more easily, the robes only reaching just down past her naval.
Her mouth will also start to slowly develop fangs, these fangs would typically serve to produce venom (May or may not remove this ability, need to talk to Astra about it again) but mostly are needed to sustain her life as Driders do require blood to live. (She will have a normal diet but raw meat will be a favorite) Another thing to note is at this stage she would be the same hight as any normal child, however due to her spider body she stands almost a head and a half taller. She will be able to fully walk at this stage however it will be slow and cautious as the spider legs slowly learn to work together to move her about. At this age she would already be standing almost 4 feet tall her lower body the size of a small dog.
Special note: Both during the toddler and infant stage she is very sensative about being around others, this is a result of the ever lasting paranoia that living in the Underdark can impart on a persons mind. She rarely cries and when she does it's only enough to get food, after that she goes back to a quite state attempting to hide in what ever place she can to be left alone.
Kid: Her first signs of web spinning begin to manifest and she slowly learns more about using them and weaving them together at this age. Her old robes discarded she now wears a more formal like dress made of purple and blue silks, along the sleeves cuffs and hem of it are spider designs and in the middle is a larger spider hanging from a web string.
By now her paranoia mentioned above can be slowly breaking down, at the same time by now she will have had minor glimpses at her past life as a Priestess in the form of short quick dreams highlighting the better moment in her life. This is also why she wears a new set of robes designed to favor her spider goddess whom she feels at the time has not forsaken her. She will also gain a slight bit of arrogance and possible superiority complex over males after seeing glimpses of the social differences between her and the male lackies in her dreams. Size wise she is now 6 feet tall, her spider part can now be compared to a full sized German Shepard dog.
Teen: After her teen quest Umrae will fully understand the extent of what she was in her past life and learn how she became a Drider, she will also learn to the full extent all the powers, prayers, and other abilities she once had. However due to being reborn as a Drider and not a simple Drow she lost almost all of them. She will also grasp the concept of Lolths disfavor for her and forsake the robes she wore before.
Wearing a robe like top with large sweeping sleeves of dark purples and reds it stops just above the naval openly displaying the wounds that killed her. By now they will stand out a ghost white on her ash toned skin. The spidery mass will have also increased in size, standing now 7 feet tall her spidery portion being that of a small pony. She would weigh almost 300 pounds now but due to her spider like limbs she can move just as quickly and easily as a normal spider would. (Provided she can fit any where... xd ) Also at this point she will have regained the knowledge at least of how to effectivly use a whip. Granted said whip will no longer be the same live snake headed kind a priestess would have it would indeed be a rather long whip with which she would have no complaints using in combat due to the tip being spiked and possibly dipped in drow made poison.
As of learning why she was created she will possibly shift towards an even more negative personality refusing to trust others and holding an extream ego over males.
Another thing to note is with her finally having re-learned all her clerical and priestly spells she does have the option to try and invoke them. However such occurrences are rare, and only happen when she is deeply angered at her Goddess for forsaking her. Often in a mad fit of rage starting a prayer to the Goddess with enough anger and chaos about her can grant Lolths attention just long enough to give her the spell, if Lolth deems her unworthy of blessing at the time... well your last words just fell on deaf ears probably. However her ability to levitate and summon darkness are lost to her as they where never really 'learned' they came almost naturally. Levitating in general by now is most likely impossible due to how large she is.
Youth: Still 7 feet tall it seems she has slown down in growing, however her spider portion has gotten much more powerfull, her spider legs can easily support her weight allowing her to jump (not very high jumps, and when she lands she could probably shake the house down) and even aid her in climbing to a degree. She can't actually stick to a wall and simply walk up it, but if a wall has foot holds in it she can use her spider appendages to move up it with the aid of her hands to guide her. Also her ability of web manipulation has become much more efficient, given enough time she can construct crude webs that she can use to maneuver down a wall by creating foot holds for the webbing. (Think over sized silly string webbing that can support up too half a ton) However she still lacks a full ability to commune with her goddess. Clothing wise she still continues to show off the scars that killed her but she has abandoned the colors of her former House and now wares dark reds lined with just a hint of gold.
Adult: One last sudden burst of both strength and growth makes Umrae an 8.5 foot tall Drider, she is now able to easily scale walls with out even using her hands to balance or guide her upper half. Her ability with web making has increased greatly to the point where her webbing can actually compensate for any weakness in the architecture it's built around. (This would mean if a wood platform couldn't support her with enough time she could strengthen the supports with her webbing. How ever a lone strand of her webbing even if it is proportioned to her size it can not support her to free dangle from it.)
At this point in her life Umrae has finally decided to forsaken Lolth and instead follows the Goddess Eilistraee (The Dark Maiden) her outfit is now a silver and cream colored gown like robe that reaches down past her waist and is about 6 feet long so it barely extends past her lower body when fully standing. She also wears an amulet of her new faith that is show as a silver long sword outlined against a silver moon with silvery filaments. She still carries her whip about for self defense but prefers to avoid fighting now, her focus in the power of spells has also shifted away from offensive and lethal spells blessed by Lolth to more defensive and healing as another sign of trying to forsake her old ways. With proper time to pray she can preform one large spell a day and a few minor ones on site given time to properly pray and create the gestures needed.

Name: Gerowen Alias: Gero Gender: Female Race: Human Occupation: Minor Priestess / Scholar Hair Colour: Dark black Eye Colour: A light blue Skin Tone: Peach toned Distinctive Habbits: Always carries golden bound book of her religion along with others in her shoulder pack General likes: Books, classic music, studying, her religion, being left to her study for the most part. General dislikes: Disrespect to books, losing her notes, heretics and anarchist, messyness. Hobbies: Reading, antiques, music, her studies.
Abilities: She has no real abilities, she can perform minor healing spells due to prayer to her Goddess, other then that she is simply a well learned women who’s good at learning new things.
Personality: Think like a librarian, she likes it quiet with the sound of birds and the wind outside while she settles down for a nice read. Sometimes she likes the sound of a piano or violin, but for the most part she likes her life as a calm quiet study of the world around her and her religious view of it. When she is in public she is often soft spoke and often very polite, the only thing able to ever work her up in a fury is a heretic or some other blasphemy against her religion. Even then she isn’t a very angry person to strike out at others.
When she’s alone she still maintains a clam quiet nature, but exhibits more openness, she sings to her self as she plays the violin, she tends a garden talking to the plants, more so talking to her Goddess feeling at ease in her home to speak freely.
Back Round:
Gerowen was always the crown of her family, both her parents instilled her religious mind and her older brother the world of tomes and scrolls and all that was about them. She was always surrounded by others of like mind, always polite, always kind. Though her brother did stand out a bit, he wasn’t religious so much as a scholar, and some of his books always seemed to work their way in to Gerowens bag for reading at night.
Some people eventually caught wind of Gerowen’s interest in things outside the religious community and asked politely that something be done about it, as well as her brother who had started such issues. For a while things could be brushed aside and Gerowen with her brother remained at the close-knit community, but by the young age of twenty the town once more stated it’s displeasure, able to make her own choices she decided to leave with her brother. Eventually they parted ways, seeking their own knowledge. Gerowen still always continued to study her religion along with the world. She still maintains some contact with her brother by letter, and every now and then a letter to her parents too to reassure them of her well being.

The Perks of Being A Drider (Okay so it sucks these are just cover ups for the fact that you have a spider butt rofl )
Spider Webbing (Kid and up) - At Umrae's kid stage she will start to show signs of her ability to spin her own web, it is unclear if her original cocoon was made by her or if it was simply a sign of what she was. None the less at her kid stage she is able to produce low amounts of webbing. Unlike James Dean (Astra's character) her spider webbing is really nothing fancy. It sticks to stuff and makes webs, and a lovely way to wrap ones enemies up for snacking on later.
Drawbacks: While the webbing is efficient, it requires a good amount of time to do any sort of massive web work. Being a Drider making a web between two large buildings could take quite a while you know! Also if it lacks the proper support around it the webs up until her adult stage are subject to being just as weak as the support it holds on to.
Efficient With Whips (Teen and up) - After a full trip through her past Emrae gains back the knowledge of how to properly wield a whip like she did as a priestess. However she no longer has access to a living snake whip she is none the less still able to attack, disarm, and defend with one.
Drawbacks: Unless the whip has a barbed head with poison it's still only a whip and as such is not always the most efficient weapon. Also she lacks the vars tile knowledge that a male Drow would know with weapons having been raised only using a snake whip like most priestess. No whip = Umrae with out any weapon other then her body.
Priestess/Clerical Powers (Teen and up) - With her knowledge of her powers as a priestess restored from her quest she can finally attempt to tap into them once more. At first she attempts only to tap the power of Lolth which she was originally raised to do, however at her adult stage she switches her alignment following Eilistraee instead of Lolth granting her a new less violent book of spells and a better chance to cast them. (Healing and defensive mostly where as Lolth would grant spells to hinder and harm.) Drawbacks: Before Eilistraee spells from Lolth are hard for her to pull off. Most often they can only occur when Lolth finds amusement in Umrae's constant pleading and praying for her powers. Should they be granted they will work, however if Lolth does not deem the situation worthy of blessing her (Meaning the situation is chaotic to Lolth's liking and the prayer is strong enough to gain her attention in the first place) then the spell will fail and well, Umrae may have just spent her last words begging for a blessing from a Goddess who turns a deaf ear to the call. Enhanced Climbing - (All stages, most efficient at adult stage) - Having 6 legs makes climbing oh so much easier. Using her 6 legs and 2 hands at almost all her younger stages she can find an easier way to maneuver and climb over objects. When it comes to straight up walls however she lacks the ability to easily scale them unless they have foot holds for her to grasp. At her youth state she will be able to fully climb using nothing but her legs while her two arms can move separately to do what they wish. Downside: It's not really a down side as much so as its a limit, she needs at least minute foot holes to climb, it may be possible for her at her adult stage to stab her legs into weaker material to climb but if she isn't able to make webbing on the surface to climb (which takes time to do) then she can't climb it. And walking on the ceiling is only possible if she slowly applies webbing to it to make what could be seen as 'monkey bars' for her feet to hook in to and hold.
