A busy place, full of people. Everyone seems to have something to do and those who seem to have nothing still hold a deep sense of purpose in this urban jungle. This is the place that makes children grab for their mother's hands, there are the good parts and there are the bad parts. It is the City.
[Time lapse as of -DATEHERE-]
Cecilius tilted his head as he stared at the orb in his hands yet again. He could already see an obsession in the making. The swirling, seemingly trapped mists inside were so captivating right now. The man stopped in his tracks and moved near to an office building as not to be ran over by the hundreds of people bustling down the busy sidewalks of the city. Cecil breathed in the scent of a nearby coffee shop and listened to the chatter of people and the honk of impatient taxis. To think, in the middle of all of this, he would find such a random thing as a small orb. Perhaps a fortune teller had dropped it on her way to work or something? He smiled wryly at the thought, if he had ever chosen to get his fortune told by that woman he would certainly have believed anything that came out of her lips so long as she had the orb in the middle of the table. Cecil felt a thrill run down his spine as the orb jiggled slightly. He was so puzzled. This orb of sorts was disobeying the very laws of supreme science and nature. Perhaps this was why he kept it close. He had taken it to his apartment the night after he'd found it and set it on the floor, near his modernized, lowered bed. He could have sworn it had moved while he was asleep. Now was no time to contemplate on this though. Not in the middle of a crowd. Cecil located a bench that was shaded by a massive tree growing out of the sidewalk and sat down. He was very near to a park and he could here giggling children, joyous that it was the weekend. No work. Cecilius grinned as he turned the orb in his hands and examined the colors of the mists that swirled enticingly inside. 'Work', was what took up most of Cecil's time. He stayed in doors and typed away at his computer, writing. He mostly wrote for newspapers and the like, but he liked making up things like short narratives as well that sometimes made it into childrens' magazines. The man brushed back his uncombed hair from his face with a hand as he began to relax. Today was a nice day-- the perfect type for new beginnings.

In the park, sat a young woman in her late-twenties. Abnormal silken hair of white, porcelain skin, petite hands, and a pretty face that wore no makeup other than lightly colored lipstick, a nude light pink tint. She was simply clothed, worn and torn lightly colored blue jeans, black dress boots, and a unique white dress shirt that extended in the back into a long train. Almost a trench coat and dress shirt in one. Almost. She had on only two accessories, a 'special' wedding band and a necklace with a good 7 claws on it each carved from bone.
But the most noticable feature, other than her hair, was her eyes. She was blind, at least 99% blind, at least she could see a tiny bit of blurs in a shroud of black in ONE of her eyes. No wonder there was a long ivory cane besides her with a wolf's head atop it. There was no smile on her lips. No happiness in her blind eyes. A lack of luster to her very being... poor woman. She just clung to her walking stick as if her life depend on that very item, and it pretty much did. Being blind in the city had to be tough. Sitting still and sorrowful, she stuck out like a sore thumb.

After a little while Cecilius stood up and entered the park to wander idly though, all the while cradling the orb in his hands. It was interesting how disturbingly precious Cecil found the small object now. Walking around he soon came upon an interesting sight. There was a seemingly blind woman sitting calmly on one of the many benches in the park. Cecilius observed the woman sympathetically before deciding to walk up to her. He didn't know why-- perhaps it was the lack of expression on her face or perhaps he was just feeling that sympathetic today, but, for whatever reason, he started to speak. "Good morning." He voiced, standing a few feet from the woman and her cane. Her shock of white hair was interesting to say the least-- maybe she was an albino or something. Cecilius shook his head about slightly as these thoughts ran across his mind, he musn't think such of anyone. This woman was no stranger than the orb in his very hands.

The woman did not even look in the general direction of the voice. She just kept her chin rested upon the top of the cane she hugged like a lover. Blank eyes just stared ahead. No friendly smile was offered, not that she was trying to be impolite - something was just wrong with her. "Merry meet," greeted with a sugary sweet, yet unfortunately sad voice. It wasn't quite a 'merry' meet, obviously. Not to her.
She might be albino, or something more, but if albino, was that the reason for her blindness, one could wonder?

Cecilius gazed down at the woman. She sounded... tragic. His curiousity was immediately piqued. "May I ask your name?" He said, boldly seating himself to the extreme edge of the bench. Curiousity certainly had killed the cat, but, as far as Cecil saw it, he was human, not feline. He caressed the orb in his hands blankly and felt it move slightly, seemingly adjusting itself in his hands. Once again Cecilius was thrilled at the thought that this might be more than just some fortune-teller orb or something. He forced himself to ignore it's light movement as he concentrated on the woman he was seated next to. Waves of sympathy rolled over him once again; ah, he needed to stop feeling like this. She probably managed to get around just fine.

"Taeria Farrell," she stated formally while rubbing her clawed fingertips against her wedding ring for a short time, one hand still grasping her cane. She still stared right ahead. Keen senses knew exactly where he was - blindness of course boosted them, but she's more than she appears to be. Smell, touch, and hearing were boosted beyond belief, which gave her the ability to... feel, where people are.
Really, it was nice to have company, after being alone so long. Nobody approaches a blind woman, no matter how young or 'pretty' one might be. "What's your name, dear?" That time, there was a wee bit more life in her tone.

"Hello, Taeria." Cecilius voiced politely with exact pronunciation as he set his orb on the bench and began to thoughtfully examine his fingernails. He looked up at her as she asked his name as well, "I'm Cecilius." He said, with a wry smile. He listened closely to a lone bird chirping away in a tree silently. "What a lovely morning." He intoned, not untruthfully. The day was balmly and bright, slightly cool under the trees, and the sky was amazingly clear-- devoid of clouds completely. This was something to be admired, a perfect day starting out.

Taeria tried to smile, "Well it's a pleasure to meet you, Cecilius. It does seem to be a good day." Her sense of smell was wide awake with the many scents all over the park, above all of them was the smell of trees, flowers, and fresh-cut grass. Her ears could hear every bird and squirrel, laughing child, and loving couple on a stroll. It was a good day not only for weather but attitude. Yet she couldn't find the same joy everyone else did. Still, she was attemtping to appreciate the day and it's glorious weather.
"I wouldn't have even made the effort to make my way here if not for the weather... I could use fresh air. It's not good to clam myself up in bed at home, no matter what happens in life." Always look on the bright side of life... with a hard-to-interpret sigh, she rubbed at her wedding band again, trying to think about something other than... what was always on her mind.

Cecilius nodded, forgetting that Taeria was even blind. Her speech was normal enough of course. He listened closely as Taeria spoke, it must have been hard for her to make it to the park from where ever she lived-- especially in a city of the size. "I'm usually inside myself," He admitted, unconciously relaxing a slight bit more on the park bench. Nagging curiousities once again filled his mind to the point that they were bothersome. "So." He began uncertainly, "D'you get around the city well? It seems such a feat to me." He was speaking of the obvious at the moment. He wanted to know how she hadn't been run over when people with just cell phones and iPods managed. Who knew? Maybe he'd write an article on blind people when he made it back to his apartment.

"I manage. When you lose one sense, others are boosted, as I'm sure you know. Without sight, I can hear where people are very well, and when you've learned it well enough, you can feel where people are... if that makese sense to you." It was hard to explain. It was a mystery of life.
To prove her point... she turned her head and looked in his general direction. No eye contact of course. Just looking his way. Then she smiled (finally) in pride, and shifted a bit, tapping the tip of her cane softly against the side of his shoe twice, though hitting a different area on the second light tap. Of course she couldn't aim...!

Cecilius nodded, listening intently to the blind woman. It was fascinating to hear it straight from one's point of view. He blinked as she looked in his direction, and grinned when she finally smiled. He glanced down at his shoe blankly, "So it would seem your senses are most definitely heightened." He said, letting a bit of admiration flow through to color his speech. "In truth, I'm surprised you don't have a dog." Cecil was more of a cat person, but dogs leading blind people along the streets were always cute too. Even with heightened senses, Cecil believed that if he were blind he'd probably need a dog to drag him along to where ever he wanted to go.

Taeria was silent. She pondered this statement of Cecilius'. Should she reply as she was so aching to do, or restrain? Tae did feel trusting towards this individual, she generally has a good judge of character. Okay, choice is made.
"Dear Cecilius, why do I need a dog when I already am one?" If he didn't catch that, he should just take a long, good look at her. She wasn't albino - her eyes weren't the right color, they were milky. Almost white irises of the lightest lavender-blue, and pupils were a darker hue of pretty much the same color. So that couldn't possibly be the explanation of her white hair, now could it? On her shirt collar were two metal decorative buttons of a wolf's bust. Then there was her cane - another wolf...
He might think her crazy, but that was a risk she was willing to take.

Cecilius stared at Taeria in disbelief. Sure, he wanted to believe it... oh, it would be so very interesting just to believe it! He felt a shiver run down his spine. Not only did he want to believe the woman. He did. "How?" He breathed, barely audiable over the small noises coming from the rest of the park that now seemed so far away. Looking at her, he could see how easily that description would fit along with what she had just told him... well, it would fit in a fairytale world, he reminded himself haughtily. Yet... just for once, what was it like to go along with the impossible? Cecilius knew he would find out. He was finding out as these thoughts raced through his head.

Taeria looked away with a smug smirk. Before she'd met Cecilius, she'd never smiled, since her tragic life-changing series of events. Though he barely spoke his single word, she heard it clearly. "I was born one. My father was bitten, however, then took a mate who was also born one." She smiled at the memory when she was still living with her parents, eyes closing for the reminiscent moment.
But one flashback led to another... and another... and another... as they did, her smile faded, and eyes slowly opened, teary. Again, she was stroking her wedding band before she leaned her upper body forward and rest her chin on the top of her fingers that were curled over the top of her cane.

Cecilius watched the woman with open fascination as she started to explain how exactly she had come to be an actual dog. Yet he was even more fascinated with her smile; it held something strange to it, as if it were something very, very, rare that could break easily. And it did. He scooted over on the bench to try and comfort her somehow though he was feeling completely out of place. He was really just one of those people that didn't comfort others. He didn't know how. So, he just ended up sitting there, waiting helplessly for something else to happen.
