Ok it's not so much of a fanfiction as it is an AU story. In my AU the Doctor has been born a girl. Her name is Ari and she's just landed on Earth...
Jackets. In the middle of summer. WHY did he have to wear a jacket in the middle of summer? James Johnson shrugged it off and put it in his backpack. He hated his school's uniform, it made him look like a nerd. And why did they have to make them a maze to get out of? A longsleeve shirt, tie, sweatervest, jacket. It was all just too much to wear in August. James sighed and began trekking the route from school to home.
This road was special. Nobody drove on it, nobody jogged on it, and nobody saw the flying tree that was coming James' way. It launched itself at him with the speed of a rocket as James looked at it. He thought it was a hallucination but soon realized it wasn't when it came closer. At the last minute he ducked and rolled out of the way. The tree flew past him at an outrageous speed and crashed into another tree. The way it stopped developed a triangle between the two trees and the earth below.
James got up and cautiously approached the tree. He got within a foot of it when something made him jump with a start. The part of the trunk that faced the earth was pounding, as if something inside was desperately trying to get out.
James thought about calling for help but could only stand transfixed as the tree opened up and a young woman fell out of it. She crawled away from the ship and turned on her back once she reached the end of the shade. Her white dress was spotted with blood and a trail of it led from under her short green hair to her chin. She was pale, her lips were almost blue, and steam seemed to rise from her, but she laughed. She held up her hand, enclosed around a small black object, and laughed. She put her hand back down at her side still smiling and breathed deeply and opened her eyes. It was then that she noticed James for the first time. "My name is Ari. Who are you?" she asked.
James fidgited and took a step back, but answered. "I'm... James. Do you know you came out of a tree?"
"I did?" She looked over at the tree and smiled. "So I did!" She put her unconcerned head back down and looked at James. "Tell me, what planet am I on?"
James almost asked her what other planet could she possibly be on but stopped himself and just said "Earth."
"Earth? Earth..." she concentrated for a moment before stating that she'd never heard of it. "What's the customary greeting here?"
"We... shake hands." James found her weirder by the minute.
"Alright then! Let's do that!" she raised her arms up in front of herself and shook them from side to side, on hand still clamped on the small black object. "Strange customs you have here. Are you primitave?"
"No." James said as he backed up more. "We used to be, but not anymore."
"Oh don't leave." Ari said as she rolled onto her stomach and looked at him with impossibly blue eyes. "We've only just met."
"But I have to... go home." He finished lamely as he pointed in the direction of his house.
"Oh great! Let's do that! Let's go home!" Ari raised herself to her feet and immediately fell down. After she got over the initial shock of finding herself back on the ground she laughed. "Still haven't got proper use of my legs." she announced cheerfully as she extended her pale hand towards his. "Could you help me up?"
"I don't... But you're..."
"An alien?" Ari supplied. "Yes it's true, now would you help me to my feet please?"
"I..." James grabbed his head and gave it a good shake before helping Ari to her feet. She was cold to the touch "I'll take you to my school." He said. "It's closer."
"Oh, brilliant! What are you learning to become?" Ari asked as they began their hobble-walk towards the school.
"Nothing. I'm just... learning."
"Oh fabulous." Ari nodded her approvement. "You should always learn something. Never stop learning."
It took them ten minutes to reach the school, by which time Ari gained full use of her legs. James led her inside and to a drama class dressing room. "Stay here." he said. "I'll go get somebody."
"Whatever for?" Ari asked with a tilted head.
"To... talk." He closed the door in her face and sped toward the Teacher's Lounge.
Ari smiled at the closed door. She turned around and placed the small black object on the table, leaning on her elbows to look at it.
"You thought you had me, didn't you?" she asked it. "You thought I wouldn't notice a tracking device on my MOSAT. But you're wrong. I'm much cleverer than you give me credit for, and you'll never catch me." she laughed. "For two hundred years you had me!" Her face went dark. "But never again."
Ari turned around swiftly and began rummaging through drawers and boxes.

"You have to believe me!" James cried as he walked his two friends down the hall. "I'm telling the truth, she came out of a TREE!"
Patricia and John exchanged worried glances, but continued to follow James to the drama class dressing room that held Ari, and stood in the doorway when he opened the door.
"I'm back." James announced.
"Hello." Ari replied as she held a hammer over the tracking device. "Please make sure that any part of you body that can be injured by small projectiles is covered and safe."
"What are you talking about?" Patricia stared at Ari, who was easily a foot smaller than her.
"Small projectiles." Ari repeated. "Please cover yourselves." She then raised the hammer and brought it down upon the tracking device with strength John had problems thinking could even come from her. They all dodged the bits of flying machinery and continued to stare at Ari.
Ari stared right back, taking in James' eye-length black hair, John's slender build, and Patricia's large grey eyes. She smiled brightly at them, hands clasped behind her back and said "So. What are your names?"
