Jeesh, no takers on this one. Alright, my turn.
The answer is simple, there is no answer. No one was there so it's impossible to be sure. We can all believe what we want and argue about who's right or wrong but the answer won't just drop out of the sky. Sure, one answer is written in a book and the other was hypothesized with tons of research, both ways aren't very stable. There might be more ideas, who knows. All I can say is that it's even pointless to worry about. We're here, and despite how we were put here or evolved or whatever it won't change the fact that we're here. What's the point of even knowin'? If we find out it was evolution then a bunch of religious people will either get incredibly depressed or go into denial and get angry and possibly violent. If we find out it was some higher force, then a bunch of non-religious people will suffer the same effects as mentioned in the sentence before.
We all have our ideas and that's just fine, but I only get upset when they start tellin' other people they're wrong because they have no possible way of knowin' the truth, and they should keep their opinion to themselves. Debates, that's fine as long as it doesn't get nasty, but just tellin' someone that their idea is wrong and the other idea is right is just plain childish.
