As you know(if you have read my introduction) I love Zombie movies, games all that stuff. But I have a serious question...
Being so infatuated with this subject I have slightly driven myself to the brink of insanity pondering on whether or not zombies can really exist. I have read things talking about actual sightings and skirmishes against live zombies that is all hidden by the government...
I am wondering... Is it possible for the human race to be capable of being either A.genetically altered to become brainless primitive beings that have cannibalistic tendencies? or... B.is there some other "supernatural"/scientific way that humans can just out of the blue mutate into these things?
I am asking for any scientific proof of a zombie existence. Please help me.

ok I saw something about this on the Discovery Channel I think...In voodoo they believe in zombies. Basically the "victim" is givin some sort of herb or potion that makes them become unable to remember the past, recognize loved ones and are under the control of the "zombie master" More

Here we are now going to the south side I pick up my friends and we hope we wont die
-----------------------------
Hmmm I would possibly think so. I think if Someones DNA could be altered, to lose most brain activity, and not regain information, and just retain basic motor skills, I'm thinking so. I can't see the cannabolisum occuring as such Though, The "Zombie" in this case would be almost like a 1-year-old, crewing on anything, seeing if it can be eaten. So, I'm not thinking, no. No actual Zombies.

I see... Well I have heard about occurrences where somewhere on the east coast a zombie washed up on shore and had to be neutralized by local law enforcement. Now the people there have booths set up selling t-shirts depicting a "real" photograph of the abomination. They operantly have many novelty items for sale.. lol I have seen, read, and heard about so many things giving moderately believable evidence that they have already existed and are being covered up by the government. That they will spawn from hell(A.K.A. Biblical beliefs). And that they are literally walking around in rural ares constantly beings destroyed as to cover up the existance. It's crazy if it's possible for these things to be actually be able to be created. 0.o

Dan Of The Dead Well I have heard about occurrences where somewhere on the east coast a zombie washed up on shore and had to be neutralized by local law enforcement. Now the people there have booths set up selling t-shirts depicting a "real" photograph of the abomination. They operantly have many novelty items for sale.. lol As amusing as the Zombie Survival Guide is, the stories in it are fiction. I'm fairly sure what you just described is right out of it.

Again I agree with Kitten.
I too saw the documentary on the Discovery Channel. As for facts. Can you imagine someone digging their way out of a grave and starting to eat peoples brains? I love those Dawn of the Dead movies! "Give me a target!" "Rosie O'Donell" "Come on, way too easy! Give me something harder to find!" lol
The brain is completely uncapable of sending signals and activating or firing up the neurons. Muscles become atrophiated meaning they're weak and can't be used. Besides, eating human brains will give you a disease like Mad Cow disease!!!

I'm sure a person can become a "zombie" in the sense of a mindless drone under drug influence or something, but as far as an undead, definately no. Corpses cannot be reanimated. Well, at least not to the point of funcuality. I assume they can be jump-started so to speak to prod the nerves into causing muscle spasms, but that's it. Hmmm... I wonder if you could implant A.I. into a machine in a corpse and have it send jolts to move the body around until it decomposes. But who would do something as pointless and sick as that?

So, you wish to take an ordinary man and turn him into a flesh-eater with low intelligence? Cutting off the frontal lobes and a few bits of the hypothalamus should do it, though it would simply make him insatiably hungry rather than a homovore specifically.

I think the person would just die by not even being capable of movement. Important things other than memory take place in the frontal lobes. Yes there are people alive who only have half a brain (literally). Taking away the hypothalamus would be almost impossible due to its location. Plus, we need the stuff that's produced there as well.
To make a cannibal just make the person have a period of fasting followed by starvation then introduce him to human meat. Hunger drives people to take drastic measures. In addition, like Fanto stated, give the person close to a drug overdose but not a high dose sufficient enough to kill him.
I agree with Fanto in the machine that sends electrical impulses to the brain while attaching machines that provide for body functions such as pumping blood.

Seconding Kitten and Fanto. No true undead, you might be able to drug, hypnotize, brain damage, use an circuit based brain implant on something, and get something sort of like a zombie but no true brain eating undead... fiction fiction fiction. creepy rat zombies with computer chips in head http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2002/05/0501_020501_roborats.html wink are about as close as I can find in science.

Agree with the above. Dead bodies actually make sounds if you turn them on the their sides. The liquid that collected at the bottom of the lungs cause it to make a sound kind of like "aahhhhhh"... So zombies can existing as in brain damage/ hypnotize people walking around, but not as in dead bodies raised from the grave... I read a newspaper article on how there was this person who was dead in a coffin, kept on growing nails and hair, but that was explained by how the coffin was not shut all the way and how the muscles shrink after death making nails appear longer... I can't remember the rest... it was years ago.. This is like if you believe vampires exist, which they don't, and everything about it can be explain by science. I read a book on it and it explained everything about it.
