Okay, if this isn't what can be discussed, feel free to delete it.
I myself not only RP online and table top, but I also go to a lot of LARP (Live-Action Role Playing) games. Does anyone else here attend these type of games? If so, what genre/type?
I am mostly a White Wolf/MET player (Werewolf and Changeling), but I being introduced to boffer LARPing as well.

Ooh, happy birfdei! biggrin
I, myself, would probably LARP, if I had friends to LARP with. However, the few friends I have IRL are not the RP type, much less the LARP type. xd
I'm fairly certain that Penden and Fenny have both mentioned that they've LARPed upon occasion, though....

ChocoHearts I'm fairly certain that Penden and Fenny have both mentioned that they've LARPed upon occasion, though.... Yes, and we did freeform! Then my group started switching to not-free-form for some reason rolleyes so I stopped trying to squeeze into every game they played. I liked it better when it was casual. The problem with LARPing is that you need people to, you know, invite you, and it needs to be at a time and place where/when you can join them. But I loved it!

*Avid DnD player*
I've been playing for 4 years now! (I'm only 16;; wink
I would love to LARP though. There was actually an entire basement floor of SDSU dedicated to DnD LARPers. But that was when my Pop was in college...it was cool, there were stone walls and torches, and you dressed up like your character.... Haha!

I have never LARPed, in fact, I'd never even heard of LARPing until I saw this thread and decided to find out what it was.
So... would some one please give me a basic run-down? It sounds kinda fun... whee

It sounds kinda fun... whee LARPing is Live ACtion Role Play. Forgoing Models and Character sheets (at least in my experience) the states actually apply to you as a person. you get your costum, you get your (hopefully padded) weapon and you wear your armour points and you walk around AS your character. If you wanna be a halfling...you better be short!

I mean, I just came out of a performance course, which I did for a year and a half, and I played enough characters (and even did some fake fighting - I got this move, right, where I swing my legs up and I... oh never mind redface ) that I'm just not into it any more. xp

Geez, drama is completely different than LARPing, at least if you're shy at all like me. Even improve is different because they give you ridiculous settings/situations to go by in drama class. LARPing is a ton more fun and less stressful, at least if you're with friends. basically, if you can WRITE a character, then you can get over your shyness enough to BE a character. But I think in that situation, if you're reluctant that is, freeform would be better especially if that's what you're used to in text. That way it's harder to make a huge mistake. wink

Hell no, I'm not shy! The performance course was for serious actors - I had to audition for it, and I amost scored a movie part out of it. And improv games are also way different to character building, which I specialized in for the last half year, is a lot of modern theatre and looks like LARPing as well, kay?

Ehile I prefer tabletopping it, LARPing allows you to do somethings with roleplaying you couldn't do otherwise. Character interaction goes to a whole new level. biggrin

I know what LARPing is I have just never done it. Although It is something I definitely would love to do! Unfortunately I don't have many RP obsessed friends. I have a couple friends from school who roleplay with me here on gaia but other than that there's no-one.
!!!+if there was a lightbulb emoticon it would be inserted here+ I should start a LARPing club at my college next year! if there isn't already one that is... ^^ That'd be awesome. Anyway, I've only ever roleplayed over the internet so I'm restricted to one type, but I love it and LARPing would be a great experience.
Anywho I'd love to hear any stories you LARPers out there have. ^^ Get a feel for it from people who have actually experienced it. Feel free to PM me.
