if you're here then you've been curious of a game based on the Gaiaonline website.

the begining of this vision I have for this site is fantastic.

Opening Cinematic and Story

opening cinematic: Johnny K. Gambino opens up a new arena, several fighters clash like various anime characters, and cause damage to the arena, some fighters are shown fighting in the streets, some in the Gambino Casino, some using massively fought battles in the fields, even some clashing in a Zero Gravity inclosed UFO stage in space! Johnny and Gino are almost drowning in funds until an item of random selection hits Johnny in the head and he dives shirtless into the fray, before the Gaiaonline Battle Arena logo covers the screen, just a button prompt prior to the main menu.

the story is simple enough. the people of Gaia are starting to build up aggression to eachother, some becomming more and more violent, the admins and other NPC's are having trouble keeping it under control which had Gino worried. Johnny K. Gambino, being the businessman that he is, decides there's profits to be gained from these aggressors, and thanks to reopening agreements with the Zurg, create battle arenas all throughout the world of Gaia, and beyond. Johnny opens up gambling on the fights to feed the need of gamblers everywhere, and much money is gained. the players and NPC's use the arena to gain much in funds, and let out bent up aggro, thus making the workload lighter on the admins, the arena takes off, who shall fight in the next round?

game engine/combat system

Game engine: following a third person view of behind the character in a way simmilar to DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 2 for the Wii, you'll move and acr in a simmilar control scheme, using the control stick on the nunchuk to move, forward, backwards, and side stepping. using the directional pad, A button and B trigger, you'll execude various moves. varied actions you select will preform your desired attacks. the arenas will be massive areas of fully destructable locations throughout the world of Gaia, so you'll be able to smash an opponent with a chair, bash them through a table, smash them through a wall, scortch the earth itself to fight in an incinerated wasteland, and even cause a massive crater from your fighting area. starting from inside or outside, it's all your call.

Weapons/items will have varied tree's relating to their elemental background. for example, the Raptor Fire Tail will cause fire related burn damage, as the whip of ice will cause icy chill damage.

these specific adjustment tree's can be modified by earning Gaia gold from winning or losing matches based on how well you preformed, so you could make more than your opponent even if you lost if you fought with enough skill and potential. these trees or adjustment range from improved elemental damage, to improving elemental resistance.

Fire is both stronger and weaker than Water/ice attacks. as there is the stalemate between Angelic and Demonic powers. swords slash while maces bash.

weapons will also be able to dish out other effects asside form simply running a stalemate.
the dark/demonic powers will be able to cause shadow/poison damage should they hit the victim correctly, which can reduce the opponent's vision of the field.
Angelic/Light powers can illuminate and defend against blindness and also blind an opponent temporarily by a white flash.
Fire causes burn damage which can reveal the location of an opponent should your vision be clouded.
Water/Ice weapons cause a slight slowing in the animations of the victim.
Blades will slash and almost half the time cause bleed damage which ticks away at the victim's health.

there are different relating effects in relation to their contradictions, their rivalries, as Burn damage is minimized by those wearing items made from the water/ice element, and those wearing items relating to fire gain higher resistance to being frozen, often imune to being frozen. Light and Darkness blindness cancel eachother out. a weapon that slashes can be blocked by a proper strike from a smashing weapon.

an example of some items would be the Ancient Katana, which can be upgraded to dealing more damage, to more likely to cause bleeding damage. Mithrill armor can be upgraded to increase it's defense rating(it multiplys by how many pieces of armor you have).

sets of certain attire add effects relating to the form, such as the Raptor sets if mixed add primal boosts, bringing the sets to near completion add boosts relating to their element too, so the Fire set allows you to retaliate with either Fire or other elements. as the Dark set such as the cape, tuedo jacket, pants, and shoes allow the wearer higher mobility, one item allows for a special double/afterimage using skill.

specialty skills for verious attire and equipment relate to how much you've put into upgrading it. this will cost Gaia Gold, which you earn from battle.

Collectable items can be added in updates, or be uncovered in game as rewards for exceptional fighting or finding a certain hidden merchant.

the damage dealt will incorporate a damage points system including a % guage or just points that rack up damage taken, the only true way to finish a match is to use a finishing move to knock your opponent out, or to damage then so much that a hard hit knocks them out.

the basic controls are:
Wiimote:
+ directional pad: Attack 1, 2, 3, 4.
B trigger: hold right handed weapon.
A button: charge special attack.
Home: home menu
+ button: pause menu
- button: toggle cursor on or off

Nunchuk:
analong stick: movement, forward, backwards, sidestep left or right.
Z trigger: hold Left handed weapon
C trigger: jump/fly(hit while in the air to fly)

retro control: comming soon.

Music(suggestions etc)
some songs I can think of off hand(suggest more songs if you like), are the following...

Castles in the Sky by DJ Satomi
Awaken by Dethklok
Dum Dadi Doo
Revenga by System of a down
Planet Hell by Nightwish
game by Ayumi Hamasaki
Orochimaru Fighting Sasuke by Toshiro Masuda
Duel of the fates as composed by John williams
White Reflection by Two Mix
Give a Reason by Megumi Hayashibara
Within Temptation(suggested by Psycho Maniac)

personally I think a Japanese favored soundtrack would make the game feel very anime-like.

relations between site and game

combining the customization system from the site with a full on fighter with massive arenas is a simple idea, but takes time to develop.

the world of Gaia is so large, many unexplored areas, fights have been preformed, assassination attempts on NPC's, rivalries exist, people have shown aggression toward eachother.

since it seems the battle arena is too large in scale for a flash service, it would be fitting to make it a full video game.

the account you have on the site will be your default for entering the game, so if you have an account on the site, you simply have to connect to the site, and viola, your avatar is in the game itself taking a custom character slot. based on alternate forms you choose, you can set different outfits you wish to wear in battle.

this will mean console game exclusive features for whomever is playing, access to an outfit selection system that allows you to put an entire set on without having to select EVERY ITEM YOU WISH TO WEAR.

the Site Gaiaonline.com is a unique site, very interesting, it's massive story is memorable, with random filler events to change the pace and make things seem more exciting. the community and anime inspired avatars look breathtaking to first glance.

I saw other video games and thought a fighter would be perfect, a massive deep fighting game with access to the site itself, allow a 3D version of TOWNS to communicate with other players.

it's a good idea in my oppinion.

one thing i can suggest, raptor, is that you also add about how in towns you should just be able to type the name of the user in and it goes to it, instead of having a really long code.(yknmow, i still havent got a house)
PostPosted: Thu Apr 19, 2007 3:04 pm

to go to another user's house yeah, type the user name, if you wanna bunk with another user you pay rent according to what the other player sets for rent. like someone might charge 100 gold for rent, some might charge 1 gold for rent. set rent prices for weekly, monthly, biweekly, bimonthly, annually, etc. the price cannot exceed 1000 gold, and the rent cannot go any sooner than weekly, or further than annually.

you can even help training your friends or housemates, friendly duels, or group battles.would be an interesting twist.

team capture the flag in the streets of barton?
PostPosted: Fri Apr 20, 2007 9:50 am

I was thinking more like team beatdowns. it'll be 3D massive arenas that are fully explorable and fully destructable. destroy a wall, you'll be able to move through the hole freely, and teams can be seperated in groups in several locations in barton, like how some anime clashes are divided up like how one duel can go on in one location, it could be 2VS1 in another, and some could be wandering and looking for their opponent.

oh, i know what you mean now. if i had to fight you in the streets of barton, id smash the wall and hide in the back of durem debot, and wait for a team member to come to i could swap with them... i dont want the beatdown of raptor.(sayin that hed prob find me first)

something like that, or if I was too difficult an opponent for you to face alone, you could try to find an ally or an ally could try to find you to lend a hand. or if I'm about to finish you off in a team match, someone could jump and take the hit. finishing moves only do heavy damage to a target that has not taken much damage, but can K.O. and opponent who has been hammered to being heavily damaged.

if I have you at like 800% amage, and a friend comes in with about 150% damage and takes the hit of my finishing move for you to save you, he'd have 450% damage. finishing moves deal 300% damage but can only be activated when your intended or targeted opponent has more than 699% damage. an opponent with 1000% damage can be knocked out in a single vicious attack, like if I used a charged swing of my sword while you had 1000% damage, you'd be knocked out.

if a friend took the hit for you it'd be normal damage.

so sword attacks can deal 20% damage, elemental influence adds 5% damage.

the damage point system will be highly effective.

Raptor, shouldn't this be better suited for the DS?
It has two of those thingies. (I forgot the name. But you know what I mean. Those thingies where you see text or the battlefield. PC's have them too. You are staring at one right now. Man. My memory is getting worse with the minute...) EDIT: Screens! That was what I meant.
So it would be easier with fighting and making combos.
And the avi's aren't very graphic.
So it should also be easier to make for the DS.
That means it won't be superhard to convince Nintendo to do what the hell we are saying them to do.
And with the DS it would be easier to fight.
You are walking down the street and some a*****e kicks you.
You should fight now.
BUT!
Now you can say:
GAIAFIGHT!
And then you would kick his a** of WiFi. (If he isn't one of those Sonyfanboys. If he is, you should still use the old method.)
And if I am right then the DS also haves a browser, so you can get on Gaia.
And not to say about that the DS will be more popular so that the PSP will be KILLED off.
With a shovel.
By Mario.
With the help of Peach.
And then Optimus Prime would swipe in and destroy the world with laserbeams whils shouting:
I AM IMMORTAL!

I kinda had this idea that based on the arena you start within, you hear a voice for a Gaia NPC, John or Gino Gambino in the main arena, Ian or Ruffus in the Barton Boutique, Cindy for the streets of Barton, one of the casino employees for fighting in the casino, even the Zurg for their ships.

the arenas would be huge, like the Zurg mothership quarentines the area being fought within, you can fight until you force the ship to crash and fight from a pile of smashed and scattered debris to the rest of Gaia, or fight in Jacks haunted house, or even in Santas workshop. you hear the respective NPC's voice in regards to the arena, and there's 1, 2, or more NPC's chosen for each arena to begin.

so say if you're fighting Jack at his home, he'll cheat and say Go after his first attack, if you're away from him further than his attack then he'll miss and you'll hear a wailing spirit call the fight begining.

one of the many Zurg will be calling the matches in the mothership.

the whole point to thisis to use an expansive world to hold numerous fights, just like in anime. you fight in town, you can take it outside of town to prevent destruction, or take it to another town ad smash it up, even bashing away at the high clock tower.
