Alright, so as some may know, either from prior knowledge, or the conversation presently running(kind of) in the Intro thread, there is a possiblity of a continuation of Oban, either in the form of a movie, sequel series, or prequel. I've even heard a bit about a possible manga series!
So, Sheba has created this thread in order to get all these rumors and such out in the open, and to share her own knowledge! I get my knowledge from the Savin interview on the official OSR forum, so yeah. Don't take everything I say as undeniable fact, this is just what I'm getting from an interview with Savin on the official site, and even then he's still playing with ideas himself. So here's what I know!
((And I don't think I'm breaking any rules by using this info on here(I am after all giving credibility to the forum and providing a link to the site itself), but if I somehow am, I will pull this from the guild upon word of a qualified person. ))

Though I already burned quite a few years of my life on Oban, I’m still very much in love with the characters. So it’s quite possible that I’ll extend my journey on that mysterious planet for a little while longer...
Whatever I decide one thing is certain: a new Oban series will be quite different from this one. I wouldn’t want to repeat myself, especially regarding the racing element, which I believe we have been exploiting to the full in the first two cycles.

...I have not moved ahead as much as I would have wanted to due to various promotional and business activities (including the production of animated TV ads by STW) which have slowed me down a bit. Nevertheless the development of the next steps Oban could take in the future continues. I still haven’t decided which form this will take (sequel, prequel, feature film) but am playing with ideas and plan to present to partners and investors a fresh project soon. This will be an important step as you can imagine for a future Oban creation.
In all cases, these projects would be connected to at least one central character of Oban Star-Racers and will shed more light on the universe of Oban as a whole.
I will also try to push the envelope a little further in terms of character-development and storytelling.
To sum up, I can’t guarantee what will happen and when it will happen just yet, but be sure that we’re working on keeping the world of Oban alive!

.:Sheba's thoughts:.
I found this particularly promising, both in the thought of the new series following some of the existing characters and the thought of more character and story develoment.
I love the existing characters (Aikka and Molly in particular!!), so I'd personally love seeing more on them, hopefully both. And more development is always a great thing in anime and storytelling as a whole, so I'd absolutely adore seeing Savin getting more into it and building onto an already great series!

I wouldn’t want to lose the younger fans, but I would certainly aim at pushing the barriers a little further in terms of character development and emotions.
.:Sheba's thoughts:.
I gotta say that I'm uber-excited now (even more so than before this particular announcement!). The show is already totally awesome, even considering it was aimed more towards kids, but to think that it may be more developed and aimed towards the upper ages, makes me all the more eager to see it.
...Maybe I'll stop feeling that vague feeling of wierdness I get when I'm watching Toon Disney waiting for it to come on! Sometimes the commercials on that channel scare the crap out of me...*shudders*
.:Sheba's conclusion thus far:.
possibly returning characters + more character/story development = A very happy and excited Sheba-chan
whee
...Excuse me while I go bounce off some walls...
*Ahem!* Anyway, that's what I got, if you guys have anything to add on as time goes along, feel free to add in here!
I invite you as well to go see the interview for yourself, I found it all quite enlightening to see more into Savin's ideas and such. Good stuff for use in fanfiction too!
