White Sands Missile Range (WSMR), formerly known as the White Sands Proving Grounds is located in Otero County, New Mexico, mostly in the Tularosa Basin, a valley between the Organ Mountains, San Andres Mountains and the Sacramento Mountains of the U.S. state of New Mexico, it includes the northern reaches of the Jornada del Muerto. At almost 3,200 mi² the range is the largest military installation in the United States. WSMR is located on U.S. 70 between Alamogordo and Las Cruces; the highway is sometimes closed for safety reasons while tests are conducted on the missile range. The area of the range is approximately three times the size of Rhode Island. Surprisingly, the Range, caught off guard, managed to put up a good fight, until Positron managed to hack into and shut down all their defense systems. Now the remote base as well as its neighbor in El Paso, Fort Bliss, is under Positron's control. WSMR will be one of the heroes' next stops if they manage to push back the borderline.
