UPDATE: This is now the Harvest Moon OOC thread, as the RP is open for business!
Update Part 2: The RP Has officially started!
Update 3: RP is on hold.
Alright folks, here's the deal.
Some of you may or may not be familiar with the Harvest Moon game series. For those of you who aren't, it's a farming themed game. You raise crops, make friends, go to festivals, and even get married or have a child within the game.
The idea here is the same as some other guild out there, but in this case, it would be contained within a subforum in this guild, meaning only members of the guild could join. It would mean membership would be more literate than others of its type, and hopefully improve the experience as a whole.
Because this requires a whole subforum, I'm hesitant to start it immediately. I wanted to check and see what sort of interest there was among the already established members of the guild. Your input would be really appreciated, since I'm not sure how many HM players there are in the guild at the time. This could be both a fun experience, and a good way to pull more literate people into the guild, as I'm rather picky.
The basic idea for the mini-community is to have individual threads for businesses, homes, and one thread for "diaries" of sorts. Festivals and specific areas of town will be stickied, and the day/time would be updated so as to keep time flow going. This means we'll need a dedicated group, to prevent hangups in play due to inactivity.
If you need more information, feel free to ask. I haven't cemented everything, and anyone with prior experience is welcome to make suggestions!

Oh! I love Harvest Moon! I own A Wonderful Life, Another Wonderful Life, Friends of Mineral Town, and Magical Melodies. Magical Melodies is my favorite. @.@
I used to be a member of whole forums dedicated to this sort of thing. They were Invision-free stuff. I was an admin on a few, too.
So if you start one here, I would definately join. Abso-freaking-lutely.
But I do think that it would get cluttered if it was only contained in one subforum. Would you like to look the forum idea? I'd love to help out if you need it, as I already know my way around setting them up.
Here's the link, if you want to check it out. http://www.invisionfree.com/

I can see your point, but the one I was in was somewhat smaller scale. It's no longer up, cuz the captain decided to kill it when it wasn't as bustling as she hoped. But there were a few stickies, like character profiles, a "diary" thread, where everyone got one post to update their feelings on other characters, and maybe make an entry or two, one thread for each home, unless two people lived together, and business and key location threads.
It wasn't terribly cluttered really, which is why I figured a subforum would suffice. If it got really big, though, we could look into maybe even starting a guild of its own, but I don't want to shell out 20k until I know it'll be successful. In this case, it's not money wasted, as it flopping wouldn't be an expensive blunder.
Thank you SO much for the input, though! I was afraid no one would respond. I'm not quite ready to set up the subforum yet, as my planning hasn't gone through. If you have some ideas, though, feel free to AIM me!

We had diaries, as well. They were always fun to read. x3
We had heart rates, too. Black, Grey, White, Purple, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Pink, Red. Those were fun.
A guild of it's own. Wheee. <3 ...Eh, don't mind me. Crazy HM Fan, coming through.
I don't have AIM, but I will try to contact you otherwise if I think I can help. I'd really love to. I miss the days where I managed HM role play sites. -becomes lost in her memories...-
-le sigh-

Oh I'm with you. I remember that guild so much, it was great. I was sad when it disbanded... tsk...
It's disappointing that no one's responded to this thread but you. I guess we don't have much of a fan base in here, but it's not that we couldn't pull in others from outside, but I'm REALLY picky about profiles, I sometimes feel bad for being so picky, but then I see what happens when I'm not, and it gets better, lol!

Hey, were you ever a member of Orange Village, Orange Network, or any HM board that started with the word Orange? Or Kayako Town?
I know what you mean. I was always very picky. It bugged a lot of people, but I didn't want bad characters to mess up my site. Dx

Heh, good to know I've found a kindred spirit. Too bad you don't have AIM, we could probably gab for quite a while on the matter.
Afraid not, I was only ever in the one HM guild, the rest of the time I was unwilling to join because they were either already dead, or full of scary emo stuffs...

Probably so. You have email?
Ah. Well, here's Kayako Town if you want to look around for a few ideas for places, systems, or something. ^.^

I do have email, but I almost never check it. If we wanted to, we could PM though.
That's an interesting place. I should spend more time looking around. I'm still wondering if there's gonna be any interest. Of course, I know we could venture out and look for members on the outside, but I wanna set things up first.

I've never played Harvest Moon. I've read this thread a couple of times but hesitated to post in it until now.
I like the idea of having a mini-community. The thing that bothers me is figuring out how much time I have to allocate to this Harvey Moon thing—I'm already in Metamorphosis, and I know that I'll be heading to college soon. College calls for time.

I'm so glad you decided to comment!
I completely understand that there are lots of time requirements for any RP, especially one like the Harvest Moon one. In other RPs, time flow is often plot driven, but because of the way the Harvest Moon game series is, there are preschedule festivals. Plus with so much going on in various areas, time flow can't be dictated by plot, because then things will get skipped and people will be left behind.
I'm sorry if the thread frightened you. I know the whole thing can seem pretty daunting, but if you're really interested, I'd be happy to help you figure out something that would be more time-flexible and still in the RP.

I have a question: how many people do you plan to have before you begin?
I'd be glad to cooperate to work out the time flexibility issues.

Harvest Moon isn't really something you need to play to be able to role play. People who know nothing about it never have any problems, so long as everything that needs to be explained is explained well.
I rarely check my email, either, come to think of it... @.@
Well, thank you. I was so sad when it died. And it was all because of the Amy Incident.
I loathe Amy. Dx Damn that girl.

Well Izenteen, I hadn't really thought of how many people I wanted to gather before starting, but around now, five might do... but we might be able to with just three, and build from there...
No problem about the time stuff. It may require somewhat different circumstances, but it's doable. Once things are about ready to open, we can go PM over it to iron out details.
