Does anyone have any neat info about a martial art they'd like to share?

My piece of neat info is that just after any kind of belts came into karate there were no colours only white and black. What you did is you trained with your white belt untill it went black from dirt and it getting wet from sweat and so on. Then you kept training untill that layer came apart and came off the belt then you were white again! Neat eh?

Ask me most anything about Goju Ryu Karate im really good at theory. cool

So you got a yellow belt if you pissed yourself? XD
I'm so sure that's how they invented the s**t. XD
Lots of people pissing themselves simply led to an entirely new rank. XD

So... Why do women in ninjutsu get red belts and guys green belts?

I know about the white belt turning black. Belts were invented so that students felt like they were progressing somewhere because it takes years to get black belt and some students lose interest, thinking they're not getting anywhere. I know that's probably why kyu's were invented in Aikido.

or you could train every day until your belt changes from white to yellow/orange (sweat/urine?) to green (mold/fungus) to red (blood ...) to brown (dried blood/mud/s**t) to black (ok, it stinks a lot by now ...) sweatdrop

My neat peice of info is that one my instuctors got shot in the knuckle and was good enough with both arms to be able to disarm his attackter with his left and get help.

I know its morbid, but I like stories about people being hurt and having to use martial arts.

Take a jump in a pile od dirt and voila you have your black belt.

Like you belt eroded away from it getting way to dirty and wet from sweat
