For those lucky enough to hold a parking pass (a rare and valued item) access to the underground parking garage is afforded. For the other peons... they are stuck with the pay-as-you-exit parking complex down the street. As to obtaining one of those passes, well, lets say you have to be a certain caliber of person.

And by that, I mean you have to ask me nicely. Like all out, pretty-please-with-sugar-on-top nicely. Of course, the passes are mostly reserved for the technicians that live as well as work in the building. Oh, and there's the lowest level of the three level garage that is reserved for company vehicles. Since some of those vehicles are - ahem - highly modified, level B3 is locked off, and you need yet another parking pass to get in. Yep, two parking passes, the pinnacle of redundant security.

It's essentially what you'd expect from any parking garage: A dank, poorly lit mess of concrete and yellow paint. And while the yellow paint is very informative, especially in the not driving into pillars area, it isn't very pretty to look at.

A squeel of tires would be the stereotypical thing to hear between a driver and his new car. But those drivers are as delicate as an elephant handling a blade of grass with its toes. The Chauffeur calmly rounded the corner to reach the main street of the Alpha through Epsilon building. Though, in his mind, he couldn't help but complain. And I wanted a good car chase.

He had taken his client, Mr. Brown, as well as the girl and owner of the restaurant to a private hospital just out of town. It was easy enough to convince the girl to stay, but when it came to convincing her to let Lester, the owner of the now-destroyed fish-n-chips shop, stay with her in case something went wrong. Well... it took a while.

But they were far from the hospital now, led to Mr. Brown's corporation by his new car's very advanced GPS system. Charles let out a whistle when he saw the place. "Damn, I guess you've been doing well with the reclaiming of your fortune..."

He wheeled the car in the directions the GPS gave him when he came across the barricade to the lower garage. He began to look for some sort of scanning cards and was about to ask Joseph when a pleasant bing emitted from outside the car, the barricade sliding away.

"Niiiiice. So, Mr. Brown, where do I park this delicate beauty of a car?"

"Just keep going the way you are" Joseph was looking out the window to a mostly empty garage, "That little box clipped on to the visor gives you access to the third level of parking as well. You know, the place reserved for company vehicles."

Joseph turned and smiled at the chauffer, "The cool ones."

Once they lined up with the reinforced door, quite different from the small barricade prohibiting entry to the first floor, it wasn't long until there was a different bing sound. Right on cue the door began rolling up, and as soon as they were finished rolling through it rolled right back down again. The door had revealed to the driver and passenger a room that was not much different in structure but very different in content.

The first things noticed where the small trailers, all painted with the A~E logo, waiting to be hooked up to a diesel powered pulling monster. That was the extra-high entrances and lack of steep turns explained. There were also three armored cars, one marked, one unmarked and the third bearing the logo of a make believe bank. Near the back there was a classic limo, as well as what seemed to be a few more modified vehicles similar to the VI-two.

The was also another reinforced door, only this one looked as if it needed more than a pass to get into. It was hooked up with sliding locks, input terminals as well as being god knows how thick.

"Any old spot will do," Joseph made a vague gesture in the direction of the spots, "And I've been meaning to ask you, do you have a place to live? Bizarre question I know, perhaps an even weirder one, do you want one?"

As Charles pulled into a spot he looked at his client through the rearview mirror. "I have a place to live, but.... eh, long story." He wasn't about to reveal to his client that his place of residence was the island upon which the creators of the world, as Mr. Brown knew it, lived.

"If I'm going to be under your hire for quite some time, which will probably include some protection, a residence close to you would be best." The Chauffeur parked the car and shut off the engine. "By the way, what exactly is it that you will have me doing around here? You don't just hire the Chauffeur to drive you around, keeping you protected. There are plenty of muscle that can do that. And I know it's not just because I'm one, if not the, best. Your intentions please, Mr. Brown?"

"You're quite right," Joseph began as he exited, "If I could have easily found any old driver, but I was looking for you specifically. Why, because quite simply besides being the best you can assist me with this mysterious list I received. A list that you are the first name on."

From his jacket pocket Joseph pulled a photocopy of the list Thirteen had written, the very same one with the sketch of the shaded serpent and the pile of names Degobah would be familiar with. Without so much as another word on the subject he tossed the folded paper on the Chauffeurs lap.

"And on that same key ring is the piece of electronics that will get you into your office, plug it into that elevator over there," He pointed to the elevator doors, " and it will automatically take you to where you need to go. On top of all that, you'll find another elevator key in your office, that one will take you to one of the floors designated as living space. I've moved a couple of home comforts there already, so you won't be totally screwed."

Joseph realized how long he had been chatting with his new driver; he might have even been cutting into his second interview for the day.

"Anyway, I've got a meeting. There's a brand new PDA type thing in your office if you need me." He turned around and made his way towards the elevator, "G'luck"

After sticking his own electronic key in the doors they slid open and then closed momentarily after Joseph entered. He was now on an express flight to his office.

The elevator doors slid open to the parking garage, very familiar turf to Charles. As he thought over which vehicle to take, he checked his ammo. Good on all guns, and in that time he had decided. The vehicle of choice this time around would be the Suzuki Hayabusa, proclaimed by some as the fastest crotch-rocket ever.

He threw on a helmet, pulled his gloves tight, and started the bike. It kicked to life and, after a few revs, he was out of there. He didn't need any of the A~E contacts to find a core.

He just needed one old friend...

The VIP elevator doors came open and a determined Joseph Brown came out. He was already on his phone dialling a number. He had finally figured out who that guy he saw at the temple was. With any luck he'd pick up his cell and patch him through.

He hopped in the armoured car that Lester had prepared. Started it and waited for it to warm up. When Elysia would hop in he would open all the garage doors and roar towards the Temple of Falis.

On his way, Charles used his cell phone.

"Hey, it's me.... yep. You've been watching this Carter City stuff?......Yeah. Listen, I need to know what happened to the cores, and I know you and your people are- you will?.....Excellent....... Yeah, no, don't worry about payment, you'll get plenty. I just need a location.......Right...... Yeah, look forwards to hearing from you."

He closed the phone and shoved it into his pocket again. Next it was to find out where the psychic was.

And hop in Elysia did, settling herself in a seat and... buckling her seat belt?

Then her cell phone rang. She answered.

"I hope you're not getting yourself into life-threatening danger again."

"Yes, I am. Now, if you'd kindly leave me alone..."

"Don't get yourself killed." And then Aric hung up.

She blinked at the phone. "Faster than normal."

The same armoured car, only with a different logo, rolled back into the A~E garage. Once they reached the lowest and most secure level Joseph climbed out of the car and opened the back of the van.

"Allen," He said as he tossed the keys at him, "There's a PDA on the dash, it has all the information you need to find Charlie. Take this van and everyone in it to there. Make me proud or something."

"Lieutenant," He turned, "Follow me if you please. I've prepared a repair kit and some things you need to see."

Grabowski advanced on the hole. Sey was in the way, and it seemed he would trample right over her, should she not get the hell out of the way.

Once free, he fully stretched out, tossing one glance back towards the van full of adventurers before walking away from it, and getting some room from the shady Joseph Brown.

About ten feet from Van and Man, he waited, watching both.

Sey moved over so she wouldn't be trampled and gave a nod of her head to Liutenent Grabowski.

"It was a pleasure to meet you. I hope your problems get settled eventually..." She said, waving slightly.

"Forgive me for my reaction in the Temple. If you had stayed there any longer, someone would have eventually come to attack you... And harm my home."

"These fellow's can make their own way from here lieutenant Grabowski," He began to make his way towards the elevator, "There's a hidden robotics lab on floor 27."

He waited for the robot before he would swipe his card, "I'm pretty sure hidden and robotics lab are two good descriptors of a room you'd like right now. As an added bonus I've had someone prepare a report on Carter City for you. Might as well know why people want to kill you."

After being handed the keys, Allen promptly handed they to Stryphe, taking the core from the man. Forcefully if needed. Ignoring the blindless.

"I can't drive. You'll get this back when we're wherever we're going."

Thirteen simply sat quietly, happy that the robot was out and the space was less cramped. Still, there was really nothing for her to do, so she twiddled her thumbs idly. What was this about driving? They were all adults, surely one of them could do that.

Shifting under Thirteen's skin restlessly, Requiem wondered why they weren't going anywhere. Couldn't they drive? She mused over if it would be more dangerous being in a car with this bunch than having missles fired at you. At least she could drive. Or... used to.
