This is something of a preqel to the RP I'm trying to set up in the main forum, or at least the start of one. It's set in Malcoya during the Armistis between the Empire of Aldren and Malcoya.

The idea came to me when I was playing FFVI. I was about half way through, when three fugitives (the party) escaped after fighting their way through an Army Camp. And I sat there and I thought 'how the hell did these guys take over half the world?' So I set to work creating an Empire that actually could rule the world, the Empire of Aldren, to use as an antagonist in an RPG.

As time ran on, the Empire became more and more competent and the Resistance less and less effective. I mean, how can one country hold out against an Empire that controls most of the continent? So I decided to do a double subversion. Not only was the Empire competent, it would be the perspective the story is told from. I took the reoccurring 'mini-boss squad', the Unspecified Services, and made them the heroes of the game. The old 'heroes' became good intentioned but deceived dupes and the cause of the Big Baddy at the end of the series switched sides (yes, the plot is planned out to the end).
