Daemon stretched out his legs, flicked his tail as he sat in some grass that was sort of tall, he could still peer over it. His eyes scanned the area, nothing to hunt today, least for now that he could see. If he was supposed to be a hunter, how could he if he couldn't find any prey? He sighed and turned his eyes in the direction of the water hole.
Boy, did that look good right about now.
Nice, cold water on a hot day...sounded like music to his ears.
Standing and beginning to pad in that direction, Daemon was still frustrated, he still couldn't get through to Ruff, even though he wanted too. He was meeting so many here, he'd even made a friend or two...he thought so at least. Flicking his tail as he went along, his mind pondered over the time he had spent here already, it truly was home.
Home was where his heart was...
...and his friends.

Siri wasn't aware that anyone else was near. Her purple ears were folded back, deep blue eyes narrowed and focused on the water that lurked (so she imagined) a ways down the trail from her. The grass was tall, so she could watch from here without fear of being spotted or watched herself.
Which was certianly what the water was doing.
It was hot, and a few weeks ago the cub would have scampered on the edge of the bank. Water was great for cooling down in! And for drinking, and for washing. Yes yes yes.
But not BIG gatherings of water like this. Ooooh no. This was dangerous. THIS water was good for becoming not alive in. Siri was certain that if she ventured near the water, she would fall in and be... "dead"... was the word Shin had used. Yeah.
Dead.
And that would be a waste, because then who would she give her life to? How would she ever repay all the lives that had been given for HER? So instead of playing on the bank of the waterhole, Siri panted a ways away. Nothing could make her go near there ever again! Not after that incident with that pretty black lady!

Daemon was lost in thought, lost that is until a purple figure caught his attention. He stopped, turned his head and his light blue eyes fell on what looked like Siri, the cub he had met before, rather recently too. However, she looked, bigger now, did she grow already? he mused in his mind, changing his path from to the water hole, over to where Siri seemed to be.
He wondered why she would be way ou here? It was hot, she could use a drink more or less, he didn't want her to get over heated or anything, that wouldn't be good. Man, was he starting to care for others and get soft? Guess change is good sometimes, least what he determined in this situation.
"Hey kid- er, Siri, whatcha doing way out here hmm?" he asked getting closer and sitting himself next to where she was. He hoped she had a reason for being out ere alone, though she was bigger, she wasn't the size of an adolescent yet, she could get picked up easily by who knows what.
"You alright?"

Siri jerked, her startled gaze falling on a familiar snow white figure. Or, if she were to stick to past cmparisons, cloud white. The suprised expression was replaced with a flash of momentary joy, followed quickly by a worried, wary glance towards the waterhole.
"Jus' sittin' around." Well, it was the truth - she was just sitting. And watching. And sweating and panting and baking in the hot sun. The cub licked her lips, her small pink tongue running over parched skin.
A warm breeze ruffled her fur and stirred the water, creating ripples on the dark surface. Her body remembered what it was like to play on the banks and she wanted to cool off, really...
... but she also remembered the thick sense of fear when she thought she was dying. And that was no good!
"Ya, fine." Siri replied distractedly, her gaze darting for a moment to the lion and then back to the water.

Daemon took a spot next to her, peered towards the watering hole, then to her, back again, and back to her. Strange, had something happened? Had she needed him when he wasn't around? He felt a bit of guilt then, perhaps he could've helped Siri with something. He'd just been too caught up with things, that had to be it!
He knew he had to pay attention to others more.
"You sure you're alright? You lot a bit hot, come on Siri, lets get a drink alright?" he asked standing up, flashing her a smirk as if a challenge. Perhaps she would accept the challenge, if not, then he knew something was wrong with her involvement with water.
A shame really, especially on a hot day.
Maybe he could help her after all...even now.

"Oh, ya, real good. Just fine." The cub smiled, and if it was a bit strained, well... who could blame her? Her eyes darted towards the water at Daemon's suggestion and the smile became even more fixed.
"Naw," She panted, "I'm not thirsty or nuthin'. I can just stay here, no big deal."
The water glittered wonderfully, deliciously, -treacherously- at her. She wrinkled her nose and pointedly returned the "stare", her eyes narrowing. No way she was going near that water! It would jump all over her and there was no Ruffian to save her this time!
She was too young to die, and hadn't found the one to give her life to. Her eyes flicked to Daemon and her smile turned apologetic. "You can go, though! I'll wait for you here."

Daemon didn't say anything just watched her, raised a brow as she spoke, she seemed, intimidated by the idea. He watched her stare at it, and it appeared as she did want a drink, but didn't. Kids these days, could they not make up their minds? he flicked his tail, took a step, waited, watched her again, why wouldn't she go? It was hot out, even dipping her paws in the water would be good for her.
Hmmm.
"You sure then? You don't want to come?" he got an idea, to see what would happen. If she stayed here, he had a plan, if she followed, he still had a plan. Seemed like little Siri had some trouble with the water lately, why would she worry though? He was there, he wouldn't let anything happen to her, didn't she realize that?
"Positive Siri?"

"YesI'msure!" Siri nodded emphatically, willing Daemon to believe her. She didn't mean to be rude (and she was sure she was being so!) but the purple youth REALLY didn't want to touch that lovely, horrible LION-EATING water.
Nope.
Nu-uh.
Nooooo way.
She licked her lips and watched with keen interest as her friend started towards the watering hole. He was big, surely the water wouldn't try an' attack HIM? Cuz if it did, she had no idea what she would do! Maybe she would run for help! Drat. She and Cam had missed the worst monster ever!
Blue eyes broke their lock on the water and cast around for a moment, searching for a familiar figure.
Nope. No Ruffian.
She was on her own. Her only hope was that Daemon could save himself!

Daemon raised a brow at her and chuckled, "Alright then, guess I'll be all by myself then..."he said, trying to sound disappointed that she didn't want to come along. He didn't want to be alone anyway, but how could he get her near the water, how? He'd have to try and find a way that would work well, and not scare her even more, and not get himself into trouble by crying 'wolf' when just trying to help her.
He neared the water's edge, and took a few laps of the cool water. It was cold, and tasted so good on a day like today. He glanced at Siri from the corner of his eye, watching her, surely he couldn't see he was trying to see where she was, to try and make his plan work. He was at a shallow part of the water hole, and he took a few steps in, first one paw then the next.
Then it hit him.
He took another step, stepping a bit deeper into the water hole, but he could still stand...though Siri wouldn't know that. he lurched himself forward as if to make it seem like something had pulled him down, and he created a large splash.
Now he was cold, and wet.
He started to flail, to make it look like the water was attacking him, all the while while sitting on the bottom, dunking himself under the water's surface a few times. "Help, someone help! I can't swim!" he really couldn't swim...well, that well anyway.
Though Siri didn't know that either.

Siri didn't like this.
Didn't like this at all.
She watched suspiciously (and tried to pretend she wasn't), certain that something was going to happen. Surely the water monster wouldn't let such a great lion escape unscathed! She and Ruffian had been lucky. Daemon might not be!
Her eyes widened to saucers as the white lion lapped at the water.
Nothing.
She nearly shrieked as he stepped deeper into the cool pond. As it was she lept to her paws and nearly shouted a warning. But --
-- nothing happened.
She waited for the inevitable, and was not dissapointed. A soon as he started to sink, flailing and calling for help, Siri knew what it was. And froze. Her legs wouldn't move! A terrible shivery chill sped through her body, rooting her to the spot.
Daemon slipped from view and reappeared, spluttering and coughing.
"Aiiiieeeee!" The shriek she'd been holding back ripped loose, along with her legs. The cub raced down to the pond in a streak of purple fur, and lept outstreached into the horrid, dark, hungry water.
Surely she was going to die!
But not without trying to save her new friend first. She hadn't fought all those other monsters with Cam and learned nothing! Gurgling and flailing, she made it to Daemon's side and began tugging at his ear.
"Swim! Swim!"

Daemon's ears flicked as he heard Siri shriek, his eyes fell on the purple blur approaching him, Siri, she was coming. He smirked to himself, his plan was working, she thought he was in trouble, when he really wasn't. Was tricking her like this the best idea...though, how else would he get her this close to the water.
He flailed his arms a bit more, had his hind legs pushing against the mud on the bottom to keep himself somewhat stable so he wouldn't really fall over, and put himself and Siri in danger. His paws were feeling really disgusting now, muck on his paws, that'll be hell to clean off later. "Siri..." he said after hearing her say swim, he dunked himself under, then pushed up towards the surface so that Siri would be non his back, they were a bit forward from where they were before. Though still not too close to the edge.
He stood up straight, kept his back as flat as he could to have Siri balance, get calm, see that the water was nothing to be afraid of.
He hoped she wouldn't hate him.

Siri gasped and clung on as Daemon rose up out of the water. Her fur was clammy and stuck to her body, her ears flat against her skull. He was... standing?
Wait... what? I don't --
Understanding dawned, and with it came anger.
"You TRICKED me!" Siri was far from calm, but was smart enough to keep somewhat still. "MEANY!" She wasn't sure if she was crying (it would be hard to tell with all this stupid water on her), but her vision blurred and she shook her head to clear it.
"YOU COULD HAVE DIED!" She shrieked. "THE WATER --"
... the water wasn't doing anything. It was just... lying there, in its little hole. Glittering and swirling a bit where the drops from her and Daemon hit it. But didn't the monster want them? Shouldn't it be reaching up, even now (especially now!), trying to pull them under?
This was just confusing.

Daemon flinched when she yelled, closing his eyes, keeping still, waiting for her to either jump off, hit or bite him, scratch or never talk to him again. He seemed to have upset her more then he thought he would have, which made him feel so bad, so much worse then he could have predicted. "But I didn't..." he said, softly, though his voice was still as rough as it usually was, the strange tone of his voice always stayed no matter what.
"The water is alright see?" he said, swiping a paw through it, taking a few steps, crouching down so his back, Siri was closer to it, so she could look at it better. "See? I'm alright, you're alright, there's nothing to be afraid of Siri, as long as you know how to act around it, swim and such, you'll be alright, thats all I wanted to show you..."
His ears fell back a bit, he didn't turn to look at her, she would probably hate him now.
How'd she get so afraid of the water anyway?

Siri's ear flickered back and forth in confusion. Her eyes were dark with fear and they never left the water. It didn't matter how innocently it gleamed, how wonderfully cool it felt on her hot coat...
"I can't swim though!" She cried, her eyes glued to the deep, dark depths beneath her.
... well, in reality it wasn't -that- deep. Really, it was kinda pretty and light blue in spots. But still! You didn't need a whole lotta water to die in, after all. Siri sniffled and dragged a paw across her nose. Why couldn't lions just let things lie? She didn't need to deal with water!
She narrowed her dark blue eyes. Well... maybe it wasn't too bad. And she did need to drink, after all! And getting wet was nice when it was hot...
"Do you--" She sputtered for a moment, ears flat and fear overcoming her. With a deep breath Siri gathered her courage and continued. "Wouldyouteachme?"
She shouted the question all at once, hopeful that he would say yes and fearful of acceptance at the same time. What if the water was only waiting?

Daemon listened, and smiled to himself, chuckled lightly too, "You just swam a bit there ya know," he said with a flick of his tail, paws still in the water, it was nice though, it was hot, so the cool water was nice. He didn't step out of the water though, he wanted to her to see that he could just stand there, and nothing would happen, that he would be alright. "See, water like this is very calm, it barely ripples, there's no current, or else you'd move," he tried to explain, so she'd know of which water is safe.v
"You see, streams, rivers, and the ocean have currents, which make it tough to swim in, those are the places you have to be careful at Siri, but this..the water hole? Its quite safe," he smiled when she started speaking, and even beamed a bit when she asked her question. "'Course Siri, I'll teach you..."
He was a softy after all he guessed.
He crouched down so that his stomach was touching the water, and so that she could jump into the shallow area where she could stand. "First just stand in the shallows, get a feel for the water being on your fur, I'm right here, I won't let anything happen to you...I promise."
