It had been the same mundane schedule for Kerryna today as always: Get up, get dressed, drive to work. That's where she was right now: work. Once this was over with, she would drive home, talk to Ryan on the phone, eat dinner, shower, go to sleep, and start all over again. The same as always. She made a mental note to add "search for a new job" to her list when she got home. This one was driving her nuts. Working with the general public was not for her. However, it was the only thing she could find that would take non-college grads. Her previous thought was replaced with "search for a college." Having decided she'd rather go out and live on her own after college rather than continue an education was a bad choice.
Once again contemplating her life, Kerryna closed her register and trotted off to the employees only room. It was deserted, as usual. She sat down on an old, beaten brown couch and ran her hands through her dark hair. "Ugh.." she sighed, retrieving her baga nd pulling out a small bag of cheesy snacks. As she opened the bag and popped a few into her mouth, she began to think out loud. "So Ryan is moving in with me in a few weeks," she said to no one, "and it's pretty exciting. We've been dating for more than a year. I wonder if the question will be popped anytime soon..." She sighed again, this one much more girlish and swoon-like, and began to drift off into thoughts of a grand wedding, the one she had dreamt about since childhood. She laid down on the couch, dropping her bag of snacks beside her as sleep set in..

As she slept her soul left her body. Though luckily for her, it didn't go flying off to bond with a deity. This time it just hovered above her obviously sleeping body, looking ahead to a strange door she'd never seen before. The ghostly relic on her neck seemed to want her to enter this door.

As she slowly came to, Kerryna shook her head. "Hm..snoozing on the job, silly me." As she looked around, something seemed odd. At the sight of her sleeping body, and the beckoning relic, she knew something was finally progressing with the diety. "Ookay..well, stranger things have happened.." she mumbled to herself, glad to still be on earth at least. Looking forward, she saw the door that her silver necklace wanted her in. "Alright, I suppose it's worth a shot.." Lerryna began to walk, er, float forward, pulling open the newly appeared door.

When she had passed beyond the door it vanished, keeping her in the place she was currently in.
This place seemed to be a giant banquet hall. At one of the seats closest to her was a young woman. She had long ears, large hands, a huge tail, and she was white with black tiger stripes. This young woman's long hair was spread out on the table and her face seemed to have crashed into her food. The relic seemed to want Kerryna to touch the lifeless being.

A gasp escaped her lips at the sight of the fallen woman- if you could call her that. Kerryna found her beautiful, even in this desolate state. She was like the "anthros" Kerryna had drawn in her younger days. A great grief passed over her at this sight, as she had quite a soft spot for animals; if this lifeless body counted. She walked forward with an outstretched hand, feeling the tug of the relic, and with her own unexplained urge to touch the cat-like being. 'It /did/ look like a cat..' she tought to herself, looking down at the silvery chain before placing her hand on top of the woman's head, between her ears. "You poor thing.."

When she touched the body it started to glow, as did the relic. Shooting from her neck and into the body, Kerryna felt the weight of it gone. The body started to shrink when the relic's light went into it. After the glowing-somewhat like a de-evolution of a pokemon-there was a baby girl sitting before her. The child looked the woman that had been there before only much smaller and without her huge tail.

The ghost-girl's hand shot back from the body as it began to glow. She watched the entire process in awe, mouth hanging open. As the light faded away, her gaping mouth shut and formed into a grin. "Oh!" She exclaimed, hazel-brown gaze set on the baby before her. She ran forward, and picked up the youngling, cooing and cuddling it. "There, there," she whispered, "I'm here to protect you." She swayed her arms gently back and forth, so as to keep her from crying. "I suppose you are my charge then? What shall I call you?"

The baby didn't really have an answer to that, but now there was something else to think about. The door had reappeared, wide open, in front of her so that they could go back to their bodies. And with that the guardian had recieved her charge.
