Anyone seen it? domokun To my knowledge, it aired in December 2002 on PBS. ):
Ken Burns is an amazing filmmaker who truly goes in-depth in all of his films. You might've watched his Civil War in 8th grade. (: What excited me about this film was that he supposedly focuses in on the trials that many of the artists faced like alchohol, drugs, racism, sexism, and the like. He also does a great job with the soundtracks. X3 Yeah, I want it - the film and the soundtrack. ;x
I looked it up on Ebay, and the "Buy It Now" for the 10-disc DVD set was $89. :/ Pshh, like that's gonna happen any time soon. It was quite a step from the next highest price, though, which was $110. ;__; Damn, and my birthday just passed!!
Concerning the CDs - apperantly there're five discs (@__@). They sell for around $5-6 each, and the boxset around $35.
edit// I JUST MADE UP MY MIND. I'LL GET THAT BOXSET OF CDS IF IT'S THE LAST THING I DO. mad

That was an awsome series of documentaries unfortunately it's hard to cover everything and they missed a few artists or only breifly mentioned them. The cd's that were released for it are a great way to introduce yourself to jazz and it's artists.

I own the entire series on tape cassette. Bought it off of E-jazz lines. It's good stuff for the most part. The only problem I have is that it's just a liiiitle bit jaded and one sided.
Oh, and thanks for taking me aboard.

Oh, and thanks for taking me aboard. Hey no problem and yeah i agree with you on that but then again it's hard to cover and keep everyone happy. Also notice how much Wynton Marsalis was involved with it.

That's what really pissed me off. I'm sorry, I've seen Wynton live. Love his band, think he's a superb musician. But the crap he says about jazz....ARHG!!! It pisses me off SO much.
