what does your school make you read?
so far in my highschool we have read...not alot of books.
Romeo and Juliet. A midsummer's night dream night. tail of two cities. the odessy to kill a mocking ******** hated it!]]
then we had two do two book reports on two books we read on our own. i did. Cirque Du Freak. Vol.1 then Cirque Du Freak. Vol.10 xp all in the same month.. and my teacher was like. WHAT THE HELL!? youve read up to ten already. i was like.. i read ten last week...
and then we had to write four pages of a different ending.
and mine got to fifteen pages. she said i had to start over, and couldnt go over four pages... i was pissed. now i just turned it into its own little side story..>.< of some other girl. its about 80pgs long now. lame. i know.

I take honors English, so we read twice what the other classes read. >>;
In 9th grade I read:
-Great Expectations (THE ******** WORST.) -Mythology part 1 & 2 -Night -The Bean Trees -Farewell to Manzanar -Romeo and Juliet -Animal Farm ( <3 ) -The Odessy (ALSO ******** STUPID.) -House on Mango Street (Useless crap, I hated this book. )
I can't remember anything else. o_O
10th grade so far: -Black Boy -Mythology part 3 -Oh man, that one book... I forget what it was called. It was written by a lesbian... My Antonia -Lord of the Flies -Fahrenheit 451 -Julius Ceasar -12 Angry Men (THAT was good) -Midsummers Night Dream -To Kill a Mocking Bird -I Heard The Owl Call My Name (Lol, I liked this book. Because the main character dies. )
And I can't remember anything else. o_O

I thought it was genius.
You should read the Spark Notes that go along with it. n_n

-To Kill A Mocking Brid -The Giver (twice, I moved and the next year I had to REread it..) -Alas, Babaylon -The Odyess -Our Town -All Quiet on the Western Front -Romeo and Juliet -Frankenstien *Mary Shelly's* -lots of random shorts & poems thankfully most books weren't required, our teacher would get tired of us and say we can chose and write a paper on that... more, I just can't remeber what they're called...

In 9th grade, we read a LOT of Shakespeare. And the Odyssey, Animal Farm, Night, Farewell to Manzinar, and 4 other books. I forget.
And my teacher this year is a really laid-back musician, so, so far we've read:
Julius Caesar. To Kill a Mockingbird. Fahrenheit 451. Lord of the Flies.
I actually think that's it. o_o Yeah, and we're in the middle of TKAMB right now. So this guy goes slow. Although I'm taking AP English next year. I'll read like 12 books. e_e;

Dr[[Acula]] .. schools like to make kids read the same thing.. what the hell?
There aren't that many good books.
Even the ones they make everyone read aren't that good anyways. Like The Odyssey.
And if you take some of the specialized classes, you get to read different stuff. I had IB English last year, and we read Invisible Man, Like Water for Chocolate, and Chronicle of a Death Foretold. They were all quite good.

I don't think I'd ever take an AP english class, that'd drive me insane with all the work and how you have to read between the lines... It's hard enough to read the book as is, *ex:Frankenstein* to many thousts and wilts and and no I won't not...to confusing...

believe it or not AP isnt bad...teachers normally like the class more and tend to be nicer and give you more interesting assignments but reading books for school makes them 10 times less enjoyable then they would be otherwise neutral
