Ismene sat under a tree outside of the pound, a light smile on her face as she read a romance novel Kali had lent her. Such angst and stubbornness... it was actually funny... To Ismene at least. She turned the page and kept reading, though paused when she came across an inconsistency. Flipping back a couple pages with a frown on her features, she reread a part on the page, before the frown lifted and she went back to silently reading now that she had cleared up the issue.
Her back was to the tree as she shifted her shoulders to get more comfortable. One of her hands flipped her hair out of the dog's face and when that didn't work, she simply tossed her head in irritation. She was really involved in the book, and didn't seem too aware of her surroundings.

It had been almost a month sinse Kegan had gone out by himself. Usually Chii had him go with Nomi or Eva on little arends for her, but today was going to be different. Today Kegan was going to go out and be himself for a change.
He set flight as a means of faster tranportation. Though he wasnt able to reach the skys he made over a few trees. Upon gazing down to see if anyone was around, Kegan spotted a greenish-purple figure fixed under the tree he was appoaching. Out of boredom and curiousity he dropped low enough to latch his claws onto one of the higher sturdy branches in the tree.
To his surprise he recognized the dog girl. It was someone he would not forget, the first girl that ever spoke to him. well, wrote to him. Ismene, and in Kegan's oppinion, the beautiful dog girl. She had grown sinse last he saw her. She looked pretty fixed on the book she was reading, so out of being polite Kegan stayed in the tree, hanging upside down, watching her.

The dog's ears perked up a bit as slowly but surely, she became aware of the fact someone was watching her. Hesitantly, she lowered the book and lifted her head up to look around to find the origin of the feeling. She didn't see anyone, and gingerly rubbed her left shoulder with her right hand, looking around still.
She couldn't call out because of her disability, and it bugged her a bit. Of course, like everyone else, she didn't bother to look up into the tree. Even then, she probably wouldn't have seen anything.

Kegan became aware he had made Ismene uncomfortable. Feeling a bit guilty he dropped to a lower branch, making sure to ruffle a few leaves. He still hung upside down as it was the most comfortable position for him. His wing/hands wraped around his body. His intention was to let the dog know he was there, but he didnt want to disturb her.

Her head tilted upwards quickly and she saw the bat child there. It was evident she relaxed when her shoulders slumped a bit and she gave him a small smile. He was still as Handsome as she remembered, even if he was still a child by all technical means. She waved up at him and gestured for him to come down if only to say hi.
From beside her, she pulled out her notebook and a pencil and wrote out a greeting to him, holding it so he could read it when he came down.

Kegan smiled as he let his claws loose enough that he could drop out of the tree. As he fell he carfully grabbed a few branches with his hands to try and slow his contact with the ground. Even being as careful as he could, he still landed with a thud.
He sat down next to her, and gave a friendly smile. Up close he realised Ismene had grown a lot. She was more mature and taller then he rememberd, making her even more attractive.

'Kegan! It's good to see you!' That was what was written on the notebook page as she smiled at him. Her teal-green colored tail thumped against the ground a bit to show she was truly glad to see him.
It had been so long since she had last seen him, and he hadn't changed too much, but was still rather handsome nonetheless. She tucked the writing utensil behind a striped ear as she waited for his response, dog-earing the book she was reading and putting that aside to fully pay attention to the bat.

Kegan smiled, "It's good to see you too Ismene. How have you been?" He asked as he situated himself so that he could sit comfortably on the ground. Being on the ground was a bit different that he was used to. Mostly he would hang around on the ceiling or in a tree or even somewhere up on a high cliff. Kegan was at home anywhere high above everyone else.
He wondered if Ismene had ever been in a high place like that, or even if she had ever flown before.

The dog shrugged casually, writing bit more on the page before holding it out to him to read. Her tail thumping had calmed down and she was smiling broadly.
'As well as anyone can be while living in a house with over 50 residents I suppose. How about you? Haven't seen you in a coon's age as the saying goes.' Her smile widened at him.

Kegan blinked, "50 residents?" he wouldnt be able to stand more then ten people in the same house, how can she handle 50? shaking the thoughts of a hectic house hold he leaned back with his hands on his head. "I've been ok I guess, not much happens around the pound anymore so I've been spending my time exploring the towns. Mostly at night."

'That's understandable. But, there are a bunch of little ones running around the pound at least.' She wrote out, looking skyward as she put the pad beside her so he could read it. Sometimes, she disliked being mute, but it couldn't be helped and she accepted it.

"yeah little ones. Kids dont like me very much." He laughed after reading the notebook. Most times little kids would tug on his ears or pull on his wing-webbing. So he avoided children as much as possible.
(sorry it would be longer but I have to go for a check up xp )

She smiled, her shoulders moving as if she were laughing, before she wrote out again, 'They can be a bit of a nuisance. One was clinging to Braewyn's tail a little while ago and wouldn't let go. But, they are still adorable aren't they?'

Kegan laughed, "They can be pretty annoying sometimes. I've good an bad things about children." He propted his right knee up and rested his right arm on it while leaning back on his left hand. Kegan never thought about kids, yeah sure they were everywhere, but he never took the time to notice them. The few times he did think about kids was when he over heard Chii and her love talking about having one of there own. "I've heard that kids were the best thing that ever happened to some people. Even the most horrid of creatures would calm themselves if they had their own child." He said without even knowing it. Sometimes he trailed off like that, saying what he thought without knowing it.

She nodded slowly in agreement, getting lost in her own thoughts. Idly, absently, her hand drifted over to rest on the hand closest to her belonging to him. 'Yeah... It does it to everyone. They... get a type of wake up call to reality I guess.'
