The Qu'ran itself talks more on the subject of homosexual LUST, and is quiet on LOVE. I also personally think that experience of Allah is more important in following Allah than living in a specific way. Not all muslims follow that way to the letter; many actually do not. Also, the Sufis (not all orders, but a fair few) has accepted homosexual love amoung it's laymen and laywomen, and sheltered those people from more radical sects for centuries.
That's my take on it...

1)If I cannot follow Allah and be a homosexual at the same time, then Allah is NOT the universal God I have beem worshipping for the past ages.

2) If I am not a Muslim, then I am something better.

So if you sin you're not muslim?

Islam forbids eating pork or not praying 5 times a day. So those millions of muslims that don't pray 5 times a day aren't muslim?

Naw. They're just sinful muslims. As.. we all are..

In fact, I remember a muslim scholar once saying, "Not praying five times a day is worse than homosexuality."

PrinceWitch has a somewhat right idea going there. Things are always haraam for a reason... drugs cos they mess you up, liquor cos they impair your judgement, etc. Same would go for homosexuality.. it's probably haraam since the communities as a whole are usually promiscuous and are best avoided, no offense to individual homosexuals who don't follow this trend. It was made haraam since, although a few homosexuals are sincere and chaste, many of them are not so, and so it's best to avoid it. Since Witch is not partaking in such lustfulness as he says, the sin must not be nearly as bad, or might not be a sin at all. At least, that what seems right somewhat to me.

Also, in quoting Sahih Bukhari:

Quote:
Volume 1, Book 2, Number 42:
Narrated Anas:

The Prophet said, "Whoever said "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah and has in his heart good (faith) equal to the weight of a barley grain will be taken out of Hell. And whoever said: "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah and has in his heart good (faith) equal to the weight of a wheat grain will be taken out of Hell. And whoever said, "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah and has in his heart good (faith) equal to the weight of an atom will be taken out of Hell."

All that one needs to not remain in hell is an ATOM'S WEIGHT of faith. So.. it says nothing about having to be straight.

Some people are born with different chemical balances and such. If a muslim is born with an attraction with the same sex, surely Allah will be more merciful in judging them in terms of homosexual behavior, especially if they answer the test by remaining unlustful.

yepyep.

It is an abomination of mankind and is unforgivable in Islam.

Uh, guys...

Get your proof before you start making declarations.

Nothing in Islam is unforgivable, and nothing in Islam is enough to condemn you to hell forever as long as you have at least "an atom's weight of faith." This isn't me saying this to be liberal, but only to stay strictly to the facts.

Are there any Sufis here? I know for a fact the certain Sufi groups allow Homosexuals who are interested in loving relationships into the religion. It is also said IN THE QU'RAN that :"if a man does...with another man and he asks Allah for forgiveness, then leave him alone" i.e don't give him the punishmen mentioned in the previous passage.
I'm also going to say this once more: the Qu'ran only mentions homosexual promiscuity, not LOVE! I don't intend to live life humping every gay man I see: I want to fall in love, get a relationship happening, get a blessing, and perhaps, after that, have sex, but only as an expression of love.
I will also state that the Qu'ran was written 1500 years ago. It doesn't always have good jurisdiction in these days. I am much life the Christian form a Quaker, much like a Sufi: I believe that talking to God may very well be more important than blindly following OUT OF FEAR some words that, lets face it, could have been influenced by legalism in the tme it was written.
That is my arguement, and if Allah doesnt "like" it, then I not only evoke God, but desire God, to stike me down.

What I said for number two isn't even an explanation. What makes you think you're better than anyone else in the first place?

When I said that, I meant that my religion is better, at least for me. This is because the thoughts of Allah represented in this thread (definately not all) does not fit a more Univeral idea of Allah that I think is right. It seems many Muslims here think God is some human-like spirit who lives in the sky and sends people to Gehenna when they don't pray in a certain way. This is barely attachable to an all-pervasive, pantheistic Allah that I am used to.
BTW, do you have an arguement for the first point?
