I feel the same way. My mom has asked me about it before, and I don't feel like it's the right time. God isn't asking me to get baptized yet. And I can't help but think that he's going to use my baptism to some extent that will change someone for the better.... or something along similar lines. If you're not ready, then don't do it.

i just found what the other day that a baptism was also a public announcement of your faith. i never thought of it that way. i know im ready to say that Jesus is my savior and all but the thing im not sure on is the duty that follows it.

There's nothing wrong with that. I mean, jesus wasn't baptized until he was around 18 or 20. It is something that you should choose to do freely on your own.

Think about it, and see if it's the right decision for you. There's no hurry, and as always, make sure it's YOU who wants the baptizm for yourself and not because someone else wants it for you.

heart
I really do know what you mean there. Baptism is not something you want to do halfheartedly. it is something meaningfull. and significant in a christians life. just to clear up any accusations, no, I am not implying that if you never get baptised you will not go to heaven. but it is something beautiful which you can make a choice to do in the name of our Lord.
I myself 2 months ago would have had your same answer when asked... but It became set in my mind not too long ago that it is something every fiber of my being wants/needed to do and the only thing holding me back was my fear. (fear of what? who knows...) And I am now to be baptised... I don't know when yet I am still waiting for him to come up with a good place.
anyway in saying no, I support you all the way untill you are spiritually ready to do so if you wish.

You'll know when you're ready. God will call you to it. No one else can tell you when.

It all depends on where you think you are on your walk with God. Personally, my baptism was the first step I took toward God. But for you, it seems that you really want to know that you're ready to make God a full time priority before you get baptised.
Pray about it. God speaks to us in many different ways. He'll help you know when you're ready.

I'm with Forgotten_Skys and KayRouge.
Baptism is the irrevocable declaration of your walk into the Christian faith. Granted, there is nothing wrong with that, but it is a serious action, not to be taken lightly. Approach it with awe and sincerity.
As long as you walk faithfully in Him, don't worry: You will know when the time has come.

sunshinehearttrob i have people ask me if i want to get baptize recently. maybe about 3 to 4 people. and i just told them that i want to think about it cuz i dont think that im ready for it. ive accept and known the Lord now for over six years. do you think my answer and acceptable. and any suggestions would be greatly accepted. If you have accepted Jesus into your heart then you are ready to be baptized. Thats the only requirement. Being baptized is a public announcement that you have indeed accepted Jesus. Your also putting to death your old self and rising up a new person. Literally according to the bible. Being baptized is very important. If you are not ready then you need to look at your life and see whats getting in the way, then you need to get whatever it is out of the way.

I actually have a question about Baptism. What does it do for you? Why do people do it?
