Rarenia was not having a great day. And it took quite alot to get her in the dumps. Today, not only had she managed to rip out some vital hairs from her mane - by accident of course -, but had stepped on a rock and got it stuck in her hoof until she had dragged it out by her teeth, bonked her horn on a stray tree branch, but after that, still managed to slip and fall into a smelly pond.
Wonderful, She thought savagely, sitting in the middle of the pond she fell in, covered in mud. Just freaking wonderful. She scowled at the water that came up to her shoulders, almost daring it to come closer to her face. She inhaled and almost gagged at the smell of this pond, Yuck!

Taking full advantage of his newly rediscovered freedom, Safi was out wandering the countryside and visiting his old haunts. At least, that had been the original plan of action, subject to change upon something else of interest cropping up.
The 'splash' had been something of interest; enough interest, at least, to cause him to head off in the direction of the noise. From the size of the splash, it sounded like it might have been a Soquili, and if it was, he could do with a conversation.
Of course, he wasn't expecting the water in question to be a boggy pond, one that the pink mare looked VERY out of place in. And judging by the expression on her face, she likely felt the same.
It was a funny sight, but laughter could come later. For now, he merely schooled his features into a look of bland interest before inquiring, "Do you need any help, Miss?"

Rarenia almost flinched when she heard his voice. Greeeaaaat, someone had seen her, in this state. Bleagh. She turned her head towards him and blinked. He was sure colorful. Not colorful like she was, but colorful as in....well she couldn't really describe it.
"I don't know if I need assistance, as I have just fallen in and have not tried to get out yet. I hope I will not, as it will be very embarassing." She stated bluntly, moving her front right leg around, trying to get a hold on the mud bogged ground under her.

Well, that was honest. He wasn't exactly enamored with the idea of getting in that bog anyway, so he could live with that. It had just seemed appropriate to ask...so he'd asked.
"Well, good luck with that; and trust me, I've seen things far more embarrassing than falling in a mudpond. Been in things more embarrassing than a mudpond, to be honest, but that's just me. I'm sure you'll be able to get out, regardless; and if not..."
With that, he struck a dramatic pose before finishing the sentence, wings spread and everything. "I shall talk reassuringly to you until the mere magnetic force of my speech pulls you out!"

Rarenia couldn't help it, but she laughed at that. "Well good. I hope the treacherous smell of this...stuff...doesn't knock you out though. It's very potent!" She said, choking a bit and she found something to balance her foot on and pushed up.

"I doubt it; I can be very tenacious when I feel like, even to the point that smells can't overcome me!"
The mare's laughter was a cue for Safi to laugh as well, knowing now as he did that she wouldn't take offense. He'd been hoping that such would be the case, as over-serious Soquilis were absolutely no fun to hang around with. Well, they were when you could bait them, but that was it.

Well, She could stand, she found out. "Bleah, this stuff is so sticky. I'll probably never ever get the smell out." she said sadly, looking down ath er legs which didn't really want to move in the mud.
"I love mud, but this is ridiculous!" she stated, the seriousness in her voice droning out as she started laughing again.

"Well, look on the bright side; just think how great that has to be for your pores! A mud pack is healthy, right? And I'm sure you just have to find the right plants to roll in and you'll be fine...like maybe a field of mint."
Grinning, Safi watched the comedy of actions unfold before him, noting with an amused shake of the head just how muddy the mare was. "Seriously, though...you did quite a number on yourself there! I never knew Soquili were that into mudbaths."

Rarenia sighed. "Apparently, neither did I." she said, truding out. her legs were very sore by the time she managed to haul herself out. She wrinkled her nose at the sight of herself. "Yuck!" she exclaimed, shaking something that looked like a warty toad out of her tail.

As the mare came out of the pond, Safi couldn't help but wrinkle his nose in symapthy for her predicament. Mud might have healthful properties, but it ALSO looked unpleasant and smelt horrible. Stepping back from the mare, Safi made a slight 'tsk'ing noise, then gave her a reassuring grin.
"You know that there's a river nearby, right?"

Rarenia blinked. "I was not aware of that. WIll you be kind enough to show me? The mud is making me itchy." she said, shuffling her feet around uncomfortably. This really sucked, she liked meeting new people, but the timing SO could have been better.

Chuckling, Safi returned Rarenia's question with a nod of the head. "Certainly; after all, there's nothing quite like spending time in the compant of a friend. Or an enemy, for that matter, although encounters with enemies tend to be much more...well, hostile. That's why I try to avoid getting enemies!"
Good plan, alright. Harder to practice than to preach, naturally, but so far Safi had actually managed to AVOID acquiring enemies...and meant to keep it that way.
"I'm Safi, by the way; and the river is this way." And with that, he was starting off.

Rarenia laughed. "I try to avoid mud ponds. But not really, I wish I did, thats why I left my regular stay-place, I wanted to see a bit more of the world." She flipped her tail up and down in thought.
