"Hrm...nice going, Kildegard. For once, you actually managed to get back to your senses without getting lost first!"

The comment, wryly spoken, was nevertheless colored with more than a small bit of pride; and one only had to look at the speaker to know that that was indeed the case. Standing on the bank at the curve of the river, the white stallion stood looking out over the water, a pleased smile on his face.

And, for Kildegard, it was with good reason. A misstep on the rocky bank of the river had caused him to all but tumble into the river, snapping him back from his personal dreamworld at the same time. As he blinked about him in an effort to get his bearings, he'd realized that he, for once, actually knew where he was; thus the elation.

"Oh yeah!"

The dappled sunlight that fell through the canopy of trees around him caused the stallion to squint on occasion as his eyes adjusted to the dim and brightness of the light. He sighed, his large sides shaking as he shook his head from side to side sending the braids of his mane to rattle against his strong white neck.

Graceful and agile as a white ghost upon the shadows he quietly walked through the dirt path towards the sound of the babbling brook. The crystal clear water shimmered like liquid diamon as it moved on its never ending path through the forest.

His hooves splashed delicately into the water sending ripples out into the stream only to be washed away from him with the tide. An echo broke his attention as his lips barely brushed the top of the waters surface. The cold caress was a breath away before he snapped his head back, ears flicking towards the sound. Squinting through the dark and light....he spotted another stallion. One whom was down the stream a ways and on the rocky shore line where the drop was rather steep.

Maybe... if he was still he wouldnt be noticed.

That thought almost made him angery inside, who was he? His father? He snorted softly.

Yes, this was familiar alright. Glancing about him, Kildegard ran his gaze along the trees, the winding of the river, even the rocky shore he was currently standing on. All of it was familiar to him; he'd definitely been here before.

Granted, that didn't necessarily mean anything, as he quickly realized where the problem came in. He'd wound up here before, alright, but had no idea of where he'd been before or after. Yep, that was a problem.

"Hrm...that's a complication." Shaking his head, Kildegard couldn't do anything about the rueful grin that rose to his lips as he realized that he, even in knowing where he was, was lost. Talented fellow, wasn't he?

"Well, you're not going to figure out where you are by standing around. Onward!" That said, he started off down the river, his stride remarkably purposeful for one who honestly had no idea where he was going. But then, that was a common state for him; if he set off, he was bound to either figure out where he was, run into someone he could ask, or else just drift off into his thoughts again; either way would work out in the end.

Deja's ears flattened against the back of his head as he saw the stallion turn and start walking towards him. So he had been spoted then. Damn his white coat! Why did he have to resemble his mother so much. With his fathers darker coat, or his brother or sisters for that matter he may have gone unnoticed.

That uncomfortable knot in his stomach began to twinge again. Why was he so anti social...was it because he wanted so much to be like his father. Well... he had to be his own stallion. He couldnt live in his fathers hoove steps forever. Besides... there was no glory in outcasting yourself from everyone.

The stallion slowly flexed his wings, his hooves kneeding the ground like a large hunting cat. He swallowed hard had forced everything from his mind. To hell with it all...

"Greetings!" He called out to the stallion, in a voice whos bousterous jovalty scared him. Why did he sound so happy when he was so...uncomfortable? Rolling his eyes lightly and forced himself into a light smile. Its no wonder he had no friends.

Not expecting that. The booming greeting from nowhere caused Kildegard to jump so high he almost fell into the water; but once he'd managed to recover from the surprise he was swift in seeking out the source...and then couldn't help but burst into laughter.

"Christ on a cracker, how did I miss seeing you? Greetings to you as well, friend, and hopefully the day finds you in a far more organized state of mind than me!"

Granted, that couldn't be hard; he'd missed seeing a WHITE stallion in the dark. He hadn't thought he was spacing out, but it was far from unusual for him to drift off without knowing. All things considered, it was pretty nice of the other stallion to get his attention like that, and grin Kildegard gave him was genuine.

Then again, who couldn't grin at someone who sounded that happy?

Well Cripes the stallion hadnt seem him then? The natural hermit in the stallion cursed loudly but his smile remained. After all he'd gotten himself into meeting with another.. .might as well make the most of it right?

"As well as can Be expected I suppose... and how are you doing?" the general plesantries felt like sod dripping from his mouth. Like his father he lacked many of the social graces and he found his jaw moving with the smoothness of a rusted joint.

Never the less he didnt want to break apperances, and the stallion seemed friendly enough..perhaps this would be a day to remember after all.

"What brings you out here in this...area... of the... forest?" words failed him as he aimlessly tried to make small talk.

"As well as can be expected sounds as though you're used to having a generally unpleasant time, which is too bad; although if you're NOT having a generally unpleasant time, I suppose that's good. And I myself am fine, if confused, which ties into what brings me out here: my feet."

After that rather cheerful statement, Kildegard proceded to scowl down at the offending hooves, perhaps an unusual gesture for one unused to Kildegard's ways. But then, why wouldn't he be annoyed? If his feet just left him alone, he could space out and be stationary, then actually know where he WAS!

Which reminded him. Looking at the other stallion, Kildegard gave a somewhat apologetic look. "Forgive me if this sounds ridiculous, but on a totally serious vein...just where are we at the moment?"

He was unsure how to answer everything until that last querry. The stallions lighter side peeked through and a true smile broke through his mask light a ray of warm sunshine.

"In the middle of the forest." Came his reply followed but a light chuckle as near to a genuine laugh that the stallion had managed since colthood. He smirked at the stranger. "In all reality we're to the south west... the stream dumps into the ocean further south I believe. Why... Are you lost?" He asked the stranger.

Conversation was coming easier now, and that above all else pleased Deja the most. "So...what is your name stranger?" He asked with a quirked brow.

In the middle of the forest. Of course, why hadn't he realized that? Because he already knew that, of course!

Still, he could appreciate a joke, and chuckled a bit at the other stallion before sticking out his tounge. "Gee, in the middle of the first. I never would have guessed, what with all these trees around. And of course I'm not lost, not in the sense of not knowing where I am." Because he was obviously here, in teh middle of the forest. However... "In relation to where I SHOULD be, though, or knowing where I am in relation to everything familiar? Yep, totally lost. And I'm Kildegard, otherwise known as the Uninformed One. What handle do you go by, Stranger?"

Probably something a LOT less ridiculous, that's for sure!

Deja chuckled softly, after all his new found compainon did look funny with his tongue sticking out like that. He tossed his head moving a few of the blue braids to the side so his blue eyes could peer out more clearly at the white stallion before him. "Well how did you come to be lost? Surely you where somewhere you knew where you where before right? So now we know we know where you are not, and that is not where you know you are. " He grined again, talking in circles could be fun and it was something he had learned from his sister, she often used this tactic to get what she wanted.. he just liked it use it for fun on occasion, and this did seem an occasion for it.

"Im called Deja.. No fancy tittle just a name. " He bowed his head softly in formal greeting to his compaion. Things wernt going to badly now where they? So then why wouldnt his heart stop beating so quickly? He felt seat beading on his brow and knew how funny that must look, after all it wasnt that warm out.. damn his uncomfortable nature ruining an otherwise ok meeting, if unexpected.

Ah, the simplicity of it all. Too bad Deja didn't know who he was talking to, or he'd know that with Kildegard, things WEREN'T that simple.

"Well, it's not so much where I last was as where I last was when I was paying attention. Last time I was coherant...I was in the mountains. Near them, rather, and it was....sunrise, I think? It could have been sunset, though, I wasn't really coherant for that long that day. I think that it was raining, too..."

The question was, how far had he come and how much time had passed? Not that the second question was really relevant to anything but his own curiousity, but when one was trying to break a bad habit...well, it was good to have all the info possible on said habit.

"And just for clarification purposes, I'm being serious. Can't tell you how much time's passed or how far I've come; bad habit of mine to not pay attention."

Deja's smile slowly faded as the stallion told him with all simplicity of his plight. He couldnt fathom how that must be or feel and in all honesty the socialy ungraceful stallion was at a loss for words. He furrowed his brow softly and cleared his throat all the while thinking how to express his sorrow at the situation.

"I uh... am sorry to hear that friend." He said with all the gracefullness of a moose charging through the forest.

"Well Uh.. whatever the case this is where you are now... where is it that you need to be, maybe I can point you in the right direction."

Unsurprisingly, Kildegard was a step behind the thought process Deja had entered into, meaning that the somber expression adopted by Deja caught him completely off guard. Deja was upset, now? That was a bummer, had he done something?

But as realization caught up to confusion, Kildegard's own expression turned back into a wide grin. "Hey, don't worry about it; trust me, it happens all the time. Once you get past the hassle of having to figure out where you are and the ponderance of whether or not you met anyone you don't remember while out walking...you're actually very well off! Everything's an adventure!"

Granted, there were times he'd rather NOT have adventure, but such was the case with anything: you liked and wanted what you did (or couldn't) have.

"And I dodn't really HAVE to be anywhere, if that helps you out any; but I do sorta try to keep a 'home base,' so knowing where I am relative to that would be great. Do you happen to know where the huge inland sea is?" That would be the lake; his two-legger lived in a teepee on the southwest side of the lake. "And actually...has it rained around here any time recently? I'd like to know how long I've been gone."

Deja chuckled a bit as a smile once again cracked over his features a sight that was rare enough to see. Much less twice in a day. The wheels in his head where turning, this stallion for all his problems was as happy as a clam, proud of who he was and didnt seem to mind one way or anyother. He took things as they happened and just rolled along with life. Maybe he did worry to much about what others would think of him, and if that was the case had he ever truely ever been himself since he was a colt?

Those thoughts scared him a little, to think that he was so dictated by his fear of rejection and a life of solitude that his father had lead that he was forcing himself to go against the grain and be someone he wasnt. This very meeting was a tribute to that. So many questions followed by a sea of emotions... Things to ponder later.

"Well.. Suppose it rained about noon yesterday, just a bit of a shower nothing like a major down poor... home base?" Home?

"well... you can get to the see if you follow the streams, but I dont know about this... inland sea would be.. I dont believe I have ever seen one."

Hrm. So they were down near the coast and it had rained here yesterday. Assuming that the rain moved in a west-southwest pattern... No, that couldn't be right. He'd gone east, hadn't he? Or HAD he gone west and not realized it.

Ha. Not realized it. Good one. "Yeah, home base; place where I can crash at when I'm around, where the Soquili I know tend to hang out. It kind of varies."

Considering that there were seven of them (or so; he'd never really been sure of the numbers himself) and only one of them actually lived at the teepee full time, the rest of them truly could be called nomads. However, they all knew each other, thus they all called each other herdmates. For whatever that was worth.

Still, he was paying very close attention as Deja spoke, trying to sort some sense out of what at the moment seemed to be an absolute mess of words. "Hrm...I don't want to go to the actual sea, I want the inland one. It's not salty, and you can walk all the way around it?"

This last was delivered in as helpful a tone as Kildegard could muster; maybe Deja just wasn't connecting the words. Or maybe he knew it as something else? Anything was possible, as he himself should know!
