You have to talk to them a lot, but don't annoy them. Like for example when you see them, but don't have time to talk, just tap on them on the touch screen, and wave. Just be really good friends with them, and you'll get their picture once they want to talk to you when the exclamation mark comes on their head, then talk to them.

There's a glitch when it comes to lazy male personality animals. I don't remember what exactly. And it's possible to get snobby girl animals to give you their picture without even being friends. You can find out all about it at www.gamefaqs.com
I actually got my first animal picture just yesterday. smile Gwen (she's a penguin) gave me hers, although I would've preferred Drake's or Aurora's even more. whee
